Shumei's words were like a revelation to Wencai, and it dawned on him that he still had sins to atone for. He had made too many mistakes in the first half of his life, and he really shouldn't make the same mistakes again for the rest of his life.
He finally figured it out and woke up from a dream.
He hugged Shumei excitedly, feeling extremely grateful.
Shumei's clothes were soaked by the water brought by Wencai, but she did not push Wencai away. Just like before at home, she was willing to give Wencai a hug to cuddle with.
However, Wencai's sudden action, coupled with the driver's surprised look, made her a little at a loss, and an embarrassed look appeared on her face.
When they returned home, Shumei quickly found dry clothes for Wencai to change into. Wencai cooperated, taking a hot shower and changing into clean clothes. At noon, his appetite was surprisingly good, half his usual amount, and he devoured every last bit of the pig intestines Shumei had stir-fried.
That evening, he informed Shumei that he was almost well again and that he would be going to the company tomorrow, starting a frantic workday from now on. He also agreed with Shumei to go see Li Yushu together on Sunday.
The idea he once had of driving Shumei away disappeared without a trace as time went by and Qingke left completely.
Shang Xin was finally relieved. With his arrangement, Qing Ke found a good home and he no longer had to worry about Wu Meng coming to harass Qing Ke.
On the second day after the engagement party, in the dead of night, he was secretly on the balcony making a phone call. This call was to Mr. Bao. Wu Meng had been imprisoned for so long, it was time for him to see the light of day again.
As soon as the phone was connected, I heard Mr. Bao's domineering voice.
"Mr. Shang, congratulations! Two business giants are marrying each other. Congratulations on finding such a wonderful son-in-law!"
Mr. Bao was wearing pajamas, with his hairy legs placed on the coffee table, and his beautiful wife, Yu Furong, in his arms.
Yu Furong lay obediently in Mr. Bao's arms, her hands constantly wandering all over his body, looking impatient.
Shang Xin glanced into the bedroom, making sure Bai Meng was sound asleep before turning back to Mr. Bao, "Thank you, Mr. Bao. You've been working hard lately. Let that kid out tomorrow! It's a done deal now, and I doubt he'll be able to cause any more trouble."
"Okay, I'm glad to cooperate with Mr. Shang."
"I'll have someone send the remaining half of the money to Mr. Bao tomorrow. I hope you'll keep your word and pretend we've never met."
"Don't worry, Mr. Shang. Even if I go to jail, I won't betray you. I, Master Bao, don't get my name for nothing. You righteous men have your own rules, and we in the underworld have our own rules. We will never implicate our employer."
While Mr. Bao and Shang Xin were talking, Yu Furong coiled around Mr. Bao like a water snake, kissing his neck and face randomly with her lips.
Mr. Bao was busy dealing with her and responding to Shang Xin at the same time.
"Is that kid okay? Even though he's a loser, his father and I are friends. For his father's sake, I don't want him to get hurt."
"Don't worry, not a single hair will be lost. Okay, Mr. Shang, if there's nothing else, I'll hang up first."
Mr. Bao was so intrigued by the little fairy in his arms that he had no intention of talking to Shang Xin anymore. He said a few perfunctory words and hung up the phone unilaterally without waiting for Shang Xin to reply.
Shang Xin saw that there was only a beeping sound on the phone, and he seemed to be unsatisfied. He stared at the phone in his hand for a moment before reluctantly returning to the bedroom to sleep.
Mr. Bao picked up Yu Furong and walked towards the bedroom impatiently. He used his full beard to poke Yu Furong's neck and the snow-white area below her neck.
Yu Furong giggled and said delicately, "Hate it, you hurt me, itchy, itchy, itchy..."
As soon as Mr. Bao entered the bedroom, he threw the Jade Hibiscus in his hand heavily onto the bed, and then began their carefree nightlife again.
Wu Meng was still tied up in the basement. Judging from his mental state, he had been treated well recently.
The two men in charge of guarding him sat at the worn-out square table, peeling peanuts and drinking wine.

The henchman fed the duck leg to Wu Meng's mouth, and Wu Meng took a big bite. When Wu Meng had almost finished eating, the henchman fed Wu Meng the wine in the glass.
For Wu Meng, this henchman was indeed good to him. He was not attentive to him in every way, but he was considerate in every aspect.
He couldn't imagine how much suffering he would have endured if it weren't for this stupid henchman.
Wu Meng smiled and asked the man standing in front of him, patiently feeding him, "Who else is in your family?"
