Chapter 23 Boyi is forced to marry

The wedding was held as scheduled on the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month, and Ji Zong and Shu Mei also attended.

During the meal, the talkative Fu Jun teased Ji Zong.

"Ji Zong! I didn't realize you're so good at this. You better be careful and don't let your sister-in-law be so overwhelmed that she can't get out of bed, haha..."

Everyone laughed along after hearing this. Ji Zong grabbed the chicken leg on the table and stuffed it into Fu Jun's mouth.

"Even if there's food to eat, it won't stop you from talking."

Boyi turned to toast Jizong and Shumei. Jizong congratulated Boyi first, and they drank together. Then, Shumei also raised her glass and congratulated Boyi. Boyi looked at Shumei silently, his expression particularly awkward.

"Bo Yi, I wish you and your sister-in-law happiness, love, and a happy marriage soon..." Shu Mei wanted to ask them to continue the Tang family's bloodline soon, but then she realized that this would definitely hurt Ji Zong, so she quickly changed her words, "May you grow old together."

"Thank you, Shumei."

Looking at Wen Xiaomei, who was laughing so hard her face was shaking, Shumei couldn't understand why Boyi agreed to marry her. In the past, Boyi's sister had introduced many good girls to him, but he had rejected them all. Now he had married the woman in front of him so hastily.

Looking at Boyi and Wen Xiaomei who turned around and went to other tables, looking at Wen Xiaomei's fat buttocks that were bigger than a winnowing basket swaying from side to side, and her two elephant legs that were tightly pressed together, everyone pointed, talked and laughed, which was another way to tease Boyi.

"Tell me, if the bride sits on Boyi, will he be able to get up?"

"Still getting up? You'll probably get squashed, hahahaha..."

On the wedding night, Boyi took a quilt from the cabinet and went to sleep in the room where his sister lived before she got married, leaving Wen Xiaomei alone in the empty new house.

Wen Xiaomei thought that Boyi was drunk, and since it was their wedding day, she did not pursue the quarrel and went to sleep quietly alone.

Two days, three days...

The Spring Festival passed quickly, but Boyi still didn't want to touch Wen Xiaomei. Every night after dinner together, Boyi would go into his room and sleep alone.

That day, Wen Xiaomei was filled with grievances and could no longer bear it. However, she was still a girl after all, unlike those middle-aged women. She couldn't just ask Boyi to consummate their marriage with her! Seeing that Boyi had finished dinner and was about to leave, she hurriedly called Boyi to stop.

"Stop!" Boyi stopped walking with his back to her. "My sister said that husband and wife should sleep in the same bed. What do you mean? If you don't want to, why marry me?"

"You misunderstood. A while ago, when I went to choose an auspicious date for my wedding, the fortune teller told me not to have any contact with women for the next six months, otherwise I would suffer a bloody disaster."

Boyi had already thought of a plan to deal with this, and he had been talking about it for half a year. It seemed that he still couldn't let go of Shumei in his heart! He still couldn't get over that hurdle.

"Ah? There's such a thing? Why didn't you tell me earlier? You've made me worry for so long, I'm almost having a heart attack."

Wen Xiaomei actually believed it and breathed a sigh of relief.

She did the laundry and cooked every day, and she and Boyi treated each other with respect. They went out together and never argued or blushed, which made outsiders envious.

Seeing the two of them so loving, the matter of Boyi and Shumei naturally faded away. Although a few people still asked about Jizong's situation, Shumei had become immune to it and ignored it.

Shumei was just feeling relieved that she could finally enjoy a quiet life, at least she wouldn't be embarrassed in the village. As for the matter of the child, the two of them didn't talk about it anymore, and Shumei just let things take their own course.

Wu Ju and Zhang Binglin had also become much more well-behaved. Furthermore, Wu Ju had recently been buying fish and meat, claiming it was for Ji Zong's health. But at the table, Wu Ju kept putting more into Shumei's bowl, which truly flattered her and made her fidget.

One day at noon, when Shumei came back from the fields, her clothes were all wet because of the hot weather. When she got home, she wanted to go into the house to change her clothes.

"Mother, my clothes are all wet. I'm going to go back to the house and change before I come out to cook."

"Shumei! Mother will cook this meal, and you must be tired. Go take a bath and relax!"

Shumei was stunned. What was wrong with Wu Ju? How could she be better than her own mother? She couldn't believe her ears.
