Chapter 24: Unethical Behavior

Shumei saw through Wu Ju's timidity, and she thought she had no choice but to take a risk. As long as she could see Ji Zong alive, everything would be solved.

"Mother, you still won't let me go. Fine, I'll leave first."

Shumei raised the scissors high, handled them carefully and prepared to stab herself in the neck.

Seeing Shumei was about to get serious, Wu Ju hurriedly shouted, "Stop it! We won't force you anymore."

Zhang Binglin was so frightened that he was stunned, his legs were shaking, and beads of sweat were beading on his forehead. Seeing Shumei stopped, he wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and breathed a long sigh of relief.

Finally the storm was over and the sky cleared up, but Shumei couldn't smile at all. She had just been through a near-death experience and was now terrified and frightened.

"All of you get out, all of you get out."

Shumei still held the scissors tightly in her hands, unwilling to let go of this only lifeline. She pointed at Wu Ju and Zhang Binglin tremblingly, wanting to drive them out.

Wu Ju turned around helplessly and prepared to go out. Seeing Zhang Binglin standing there in a daze, she walked up to him, twisted his ear, and dragged him out of the room.

Shumei saw them leave and hurriedly closed the door. The scissors in her hand fell to the ground. She curled up behind the door, crying softly and aggrievedly. She just wanted Jizong to come back soon. She wanted to tell him everything. Without Jizong to make the decision for her, Wu Ju would definitely find ways to plot against her again.

"You're really stupid. You can't even subdue a weak woman. But this wife is really stubborn. Next time I'll have to tie her up or do something with her."

Wu Ju sat on a chair in the main room, with no intention of giving up, and was still planning for her next move.

"Aju, forget it! We have a good family, and if you continue to make trouble, I'm afraid it will fall apart. Besides, this is not an honorable thing to do. If it gets out, our Zhang family will really not be able to stay here. If Ji Zong finds out, he will definitely not let us go."

"Look at you, such a coward! If she were a smart person, she wouldn't tell her man about this. She wouldn't bother to pay attention to you."

Shumei sat behind the door for a long time until she heard Jizong coming in, and then she came back to her senses.

When Ji Zong entered the room, he did not see Shu Mei, so he quickly asked Wu Ju who was sitting in the room.

"Mother, why don't you see Shumei?"

Wu Ju hadn't figured out any response plan. She looked at Ji Zong guiltily and pointed at the door of Shu Mei and their room reluctantly. At this moment, she was still a little uneasy. She was also afraid that Shu Mei would tell Ji Zong the whole scandal without caring about her face.

Ji Zong couldn't wait to knock on the door. He looked at Shu Mei, whose eyes were bloodshot and face was haggard. He was very worried. He went up to Shu Mei and wiped away the tears that had not yet dried on her face.

"What's wrong with you? Your neck?"

Seeing Ji Zong's worried face, Shu Mei's grievances flooded back, and tears welled up in her eyes. She looked at Wu Ju, who glared at her fiercely. Even Wu Ju's eyes, no matter how fierce, did not waver in her determination to tell Ji Zong the truth. Sobbing, she told Ji Zong the whole story.

Upon hearing this, Wu Ju kept quibbling and tried to interrupt Shumei, but Shumei still told Ji Zong everything she wanted to say in one breath.

Ji Zong stumbled back in anger, slumping into a chair in the main hall. Initially, he couldn't believe the humiliation. He looked at Shu Mei, sobbing like a tearful woman, and then at Wu Ju, feeling guilty. After a long internal struggle, he finally chose to believe Shu Mei. They had been childhood sweethearts, and he knew Shu Mei well. She would never use such a filthy thing to frame her own mother.

"Mother, how could you be so foolish? How can your son have the dignity to go out like this?"

"Ji Zong, you ungrateful bastard! I carried you for ten months and gave birth to you. I raised you with all the hardship and effort. But now, for the sake of a woman, you are wronging your mother. Oh my God! What sin did I commit in my past life? I gave birth to such an unfaithful and unfilial son. I am left alone in my old age. I might as well just die now..."

Seeing that her son was not on her side, Wu Ju quickly used her trump card of crying, making a fuss, and then threatening to commit suicide. She sat down on the ground, crying and making a fuss, trying to commit suicide.
