Chapter 255: Repent and Change

Although Zhang Binglin was mentally retarded and paralyzed, he could still sense hunger. Whenever he felt extremely hungry, he would struggle to get out of bed and try to find something to eat. However, most of the time, he would fall heavily to the ground, defecating and urinating in his pants.

Wu Ju came back in the evening, originally in high spirits, but when she saw him looking so lifeless, she lost all interest and felt nothing but disgust.

She talked about her twilight romance even more unscrupulously, and even wished that Zhang Binglin would just die. Living a half-dead life like this was hurting both himself and others.

In the Fu family courtyard, Zhang Xiaoqin was teasing her ugly daughter.

Since that day, Zhang Xiaoqin listened to Wu Ju and stayed at home to take care of the children every day, no longer hanging out with that kid.

When Niu Wa saw that Zhang Xiaoqin didn't come to see him for a long time, he always ran to the outside of Fu's yard and wandered around, wondering if something had happened to Zhang Xiaoqin and why she suddenly stopped contacting him.

He felt guilty, but he didn't dare to rush into the Fu family's courtyard openly. After going back and forth several times, he could only seek help from the children running and playing beside him.

"Come on, Qiangwa, come here." He waved at the group and called the name of one of the children.

The child named Qiangwa walked towards him.

He leaned over and took the faded basketball from the child's hand. He took a closer look and a strange smile appeared on his face. "Qiangwa! If you throw this basketball into the Fu family's yard and then run in to pick it up, I will buy you a bag of sour jujube candy each."

"real?"

"Of course it's true."

"Okay, I'll go now." The child said, snatched the basketball from his hand, and prepared to run towards Fu's yard.

"Come back, come back..." Niu Wa quickly waved the child back, "I haven't finished what I'm saying yet! Do you know Zhang Xiaoqin?"

The child nodded.

"When you go in, you must help me check whether Zhang Xiaoqin is there and what she is doing. Only then can you truly complete the mission. Do you understand?"

"This—I'm afraid I can't do it with just this basketball."

"I don't care. Anyway, if you don't see Zhang Xiaoqin and tell me what she's doing in there, then you won't get any sour jujube candy."

The child frowned, scratched his head, and looked at the old hen tied next to him.

The old hen was reluctant to lay eggs, so the child took it out and tied it to a tree, hoping to cure its habit of staying in the roost.

"Got it." The child exclaimed, ran to the tree and untied the rope on the old hen's legs. With a smile on his face, he returned to Niu Wa with the old hen in his arms, "With my Ah Hua, I guarantee that the task will be completed."

The child called his friends and ran towards Fu's house with the basketball and the hen.

These kids really have a lot of clever ideas.

They threw the basketball into the Fu family yard and took the opportunity to release the old hen in. Then, a swarm of bees swarmed into the Fu family yard, chasing the hen everywhere, and for a while, the Fu family became lively.

The yard was in a mess, and Zhang Xiaoqin's child was screaming in fear. Holding the child, she yelled at them, "You naughty kids, what are you doing? Get out of here right now! Can't you see you scared my daughter to tears? Are you trying to turn the tables? Look at the mess you've made in the yard! Get out now, you bastards who have a mother but no one to raise them."

While chasing his hen, Qiang Wa responded to Zhang Xiaoqin, "Aunt Xiaoqin, my hen ran into the wrong door and ended up in your yard. We're here to catch it."

A child accidentally bumped into Zhang Xiaoqin, nearly knocking her down. She screamed, "Ouch! You—my waist, ouch, my waist is almost broken by you. Are you going to leave or not? If you don't leave, don't blame me for being rude. I'll tie you up and take you to see your parents."

When the children heard this, they were scared and rushed out of the Fu family's yard.

Qiangwa also quickly picked up his mother and child, followed closely behind his companions, and ran out of the Fu family's yard.

When Niu Wa saw them running out, he couldn't wait to greet them, "How is it? How is it? Is Zhang Xiaoqin here?"

"Want to know?"

"Of course, tell me."

"Where's the sour jujube candy? There's no sour jujube candy. We agreed to give us sour jujube candy after we complete the mission."

"They are all evil spirits, come with me."

Niu Wa brought the children to the storage room and bought some sour jujube candies for them.

"I ate the candy too, so you should tell me, right?"

They then told Niu Wa what was happening in the yard, "Aunt Xiaoqin is in the yard, holding Fu Jiaorong in her arms, basking in the sun."

"Are you sure she's not locked up?"

"It's in the yard. We can all go in. How could it be locked up?" After saying that, the group of children jumped and ran away.

Niu Wa was left standing there in a daze, bewildered. If Zhang Xiaoqin hadn't lost her freedom, why hadn't she come to see him these past few days? Not only had she not come to see him, but he couldn't even see her in the village. It was as if she was under house arrest. He was completely baffled.

Although he was confused, he could only let it go. He didn't dare go to Zhang Xiaoqin to ask for an explanation, so he could only worry on his own.

During the time of waiting for Fu Jun to come back, although Zhang Xiaoqin changed her ways, Fu's mother did not seem to look at her differently because of her change.

Fortunately, the two of them were still doing their own thing, without interfering with each other or making a big fuss. But from the looks in their eyes, it was clear that the two of them still didn't get along.

Mother Fu didn't want to waste her breath arguing with Zhang Xiaoqin now. She was waiting for her son to come back and went to the village entrance to see him several times a day.
