Chapter 27 Shumei is pregnant

"What are you doing, Sister Huimei?"

Wen Dazui didn't answer her, but kept dragging her into the house. Once inside, he pulled her under the bed and table, unzipped her clothes, and gently pressed her stomach. Although Wen Dazui had a good guess, she also wanted to further verify her idea.

"Sister Huimei, what are you doing?"

"Silly girl, you're pregnant now. The baby will move. I guess it's been a few months."

"What? What did you say? You said I'm pregnant? Sister Huimei, you didn't see it wrong? This, this... I... I... Why don't I have any morning sickness at all? My mother said that every pregnant woman will have morning sickness. She even told me about it when I went back last month..." When Shumei heard this, she was so shocked that she jumped up from the bed, her eyes wider than dumplings.

"Don't worry, I won't be wrong. It's 100% certain that you are pregnant. If you are worried, go to the hospital for a check-up. Congratulations, sister Shumei." Wen Dazui said confidently, patting his chest to assure Shumei that he would not be wrong.

Shumei was so excited that she was at a loss. This was such a great joy that she was spinning around in excitement.

"Go to the hospital, yes, go to the hospital... Sister Huimei, I... I won't accompany you and Xiao Youchen, I'm going to the hospital for a check-up." Shumei was excited and stammered.

"Go quickly!"

Shumei left Wen Dazui's house, went home to get some money, borrowed a bicycle from Fu Jun's house next door, and rushed to the town hospital in a dusty manner.

Lying on the bed in the ward, the doctor was examining her stomach. "Doctor, I've been feeling something moving in my stomach lately. My older sister in the village said I'm pregnant. Do you think she's right?"

"This is the first time I've seen you so stunned. You're at least five months pregnant and have fetal movement. You don't need to do a urine test. Just go home and take care of your baby!" The doctor took off his stethoscope, walked from behind the curtain to the desk, sat down, and wrote down the examination results by hand.

"Doctor, you're not mistaken, are you? This is no joke." Shumei put on her pants and sat down across from the doctor. She was still worried. After all, the county doctor had said it would be extremely difficult for them to get pregnant. How could she suddenly get pregnant?

"I say, woman, what are you talking about? I have been practicing medicine for 30 years and have never made a mistake. You are insulting my profession..." The doctor felt a little uncomfortable when he saw Shumei questioning him, and his tone became a little heavier.

"No, no, doctor, you misunderstood me. I've been married for more than four years. I went to the county hospital for a checkup before, and the doctor said there was something wrong with my husband. It would be extremely difficult to get pregnant. Now that I'm pregnant, I'm not 100% sure. I really don't dare tell my husband at home! He can't stand any mistakes!"

Seeing the doctor was angry, Shumei quickly explained the reason to the doctor. The doctor took her feelings into consideration and had to let her take a urine test.

With the doctor's reassurance and the urine test results in black and white, Shumei finally felt relieved. She pedaled her bicycle home, beaming with joy. She wanted to tell Jizong the great news right away: they finally had a child, their love had finally blossomed, and their family was complete.

Seeing her smiling as she walked in, Wu Ju asked unhappily, "You've been gone all day. Where have you been?"

"I went to the town hospital." Shumei parked her bicycle in the yard and went into the house holding the examination form in her hand.

"Going to the hospital? Are you sick?"

“No, no…”

"Then why did you go to the hospital? Are you bored?"

Shumei ignored him and went straight back to her room. This was good news for her and Jizong, and she didn't want anyone else to know before Jizong did. Sitting at her dressing table, looking at the checklist in her hand, she burst into tears of joy, tears falling like pearls on a string.

It has been more than four years, and no one can imagine how she has been through these four years. The rumors from outsiders and her own earnest expectation for a child, that feeling is more bitter than Coptis chinensis!

Now, the clouds have finally parted and the moon is shining. It's like a phoenix rising from the ashes! Shumei touched her belly and looked forward to the future. What a happy future it would be. As she thought about it, she burst into laughter.

The sun set in the west, the sky was filled with sunset clouds, and soon night fell. Ji Zong returned home on time as usual.

As soon as she saw Ji Zong enter the courtyard, Shu Mei pulled him into the house. Seeing this, Wu Ju muttered a few words, saying that Ji Zong was a shameless vixen who couldn't live without a man and had become like this after just one day without him.

"What's going on? You're so secretive." Seeing Shumei's unusual behavior, Ji Zong took off his dusty clothes and hugged Shumei from behind. "Why? Did you miss me after just one day of not seeing me?"

Seeing Ji Zong strangling her belly, she quickly pulled his hand away and said, "You are strangling my belly."

"You're like this every day, aren't you? Why haven't I seen you complain? What's wrong with you today? You're acting weird."

Shumei walked over to the double-ended cabinet, pulled out the checklist from the drawer, and handed it to Jizong. Although Jizong was not a complete scholar, he could still recognize the words. He read the words on the list carefully, his expression becoming increasingly excited.

"This...this...this...you have it?"

Shumei hummed and nodded vigorously. Jizong was so excited that he picked up Shumei and spun around happily, repeating over and over again, "I'm going to be a father, I'm going to be a father."

"Put me down, watch out for my stomach."

Upon hearing this, Ji Zong quickly put Shu Mei down and carefully stroked her belly. "Yes, you are now the key protected person. Don't do farm work in the future. Stay at home and take good care of yourself and protect our son."
