Chapter 278 The Child’s Father Dies

"Anyway, just treat Cha Cha as your own granddaughter. Don't ask any more questions. If you still don't believe that Cha Cha is my biological daughter, I can go to the hospital for a paternity test. By the way, I have the child's birth certificate and some pregnancy tests, which can prove that Cha Cha was indeed born from my belly."

As Qing Ke spoke, she took out Cha Cha's birth certificate and some hospital examination reports from her bag.

Before she returned, she anticipated that her parents would doubt Cha Cha's identity and would not allow her to enter the Shang family. Therefore, she brought back all the evidence that could prove that Cha Cha was born after ten months of pregnancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Shang Xin took the documents in their hands and looked at them carefully, one by one, for fear that they would read any word wrong.

Now, they had to believe that Cha Cha was their biological granddaughter, the flesh and blood that fell from Qing Ke's body.

Bai Meng held the pile of information to her face and burst into tears. "Why is my life so miserable? I've been looking forward to it for four years, and finally got it back, but it's like buy one get one free. The daughter I raised with so much trouble is stuck in cow dung like this. My...my...my good son-in-law! It's all gone in vain."

"Mom, please stop crying. How can a good son-in-law be as considerate as Cha Cha? Cha Cha, go, go call grandma and tell her to stop crying."

Cha Cha, pushed by Qing Ke, walked towards Bai Meng fearfully and shook Bai Meng's arm with her little hand, "Grandma, don't cry. Cha Cha will be very good and will definitely not make you angry."

Bai Meng took off the pile of paper on her face and looked at Cha Cha in front of her with tears in her eyes.

Cha Cha looked at her serious face and was so scared that she quickly retracted her hand.

"Okay, don't call me grandma from now on. You've made me old. Just call me Mrs. Shang." Bai Meng glanced at Cha Cha with disdain, and his tone softened a little.

Qing Ke was unhappy when she heard Bai Meng say that. "Mom, what are you talking about? Cha Cha calls me mom, but she calls you Madam Shang. What will others think if they hear that?"

"Now you know what others think. You're a single girl, but there's a kid calling you 'Mom' behind you. Why aren't you worried about what others will say?"

"You're just making up stories. This situation is completely different!"

"Alright, you can even let me acknowledge her. You ask her father to come over and marry you off grandly. If I drink this cup of son-in-law tea, I'll acknowledge her as my granddaughter. Otherwise, forget it!"

"Aren't you forcing me? Do whatever you want. After all, no one is talking about you, not me. Come, Cha Cha, come to your mother. From now on, just do as grandma said and call her Mrs. Shang."

Cha Cha nodded. "What about Mom and Grandpa? Do we have to call him Mrs. Shang too?"

When Qing Ke heard this, she burst out laughing, spitting out the orange slices in her mouth. She pointed at Shang Xin, covering her mouth with her hands and laughing so hard that she fell forward and backward.

"Mrs. Shang, Mrs. Shang... Dad, did you hear that? You've become Mrs. Shang. It's so funny. I can't stop laughing..." The whole living room was filled with Qingke's laughter.

"Keke, stop laughing. You don't look like a girl at all." Shang Xin frowned and shouted at Qingke to stop laughing.

Qingke heard the voice and forced himself not to laugh.

"Come, child, come here, come to grandpa." Shang Xin waved Cha Cha to come to him and called himself grandpa.

"Old Shang, you..." Bai Meng saw that Shang Xin didn't stand on the same front with her, and she felt a little resentful.

"Bai Meng, don't say anything. I know what's going on." Shang Xin interrupted Bai Meng forcibly.

Qing Ke was so excited when she heard that Shang Xin was willing to accept Cha Cha and let Cha Cha call him grandpa. "Cha Cha, go over there quickly! Grandpa is calling you! Go quickly and remember to call someone."

Cha Cha then walked over to Shang Xin and called out in her childish voice, "Grandpa!"

"Hey! Your name is Cha Cha, right?"

"Yeah! My name is Cha Cha, Shang Cha Cha!"

"Then can you tell Grandpa, what is your father's name?"

Shang Xin still didn't give up and wanted to find out from the child who had taken her daughter away.

Qing Ke was not worried at all about this. She had been raising the child alone all along, and she had always told Cha Cha that her father had died of a serious illness.

Yes, in Qing Ke's heart, Wu Meng was dead. She gave birth to Cha Cha not because she wanted to have anything with Wu Meng, but because she couldn't bear to see such a vibrant life die because of her.

Later, when the child saw that other children all had fathers, she would clamor to ask Qingke for her father. Although Qingke found a reason to make Chacha stop asking her for a father, every time she saw Chacha looking at other happy families of three, she felt sour in her heart. For this reason, she even went to find Wu Meng.

That heartless Wu Meng hasn't shown up in four years. Qing Ke tried his best to look for him but couldn't find him.

Cha Cha lowered her head and replied sadly: "Dad is dead!"

"Dead?"

"Yeah! I've never met my father. Mom said he died of a serious illness before I was born."

Shang Xin turned his gaze to Qing Ke, who turned her face away guiltily.

Bai Meng couldn't hold back after hearing this. "What did you say? Dead? You mean to say that Keke is not only a single mother, but also a widow?"

"Bai Meng, watch your words. What's with the word 'widow'? It's so unpleasant!" Shang Xin interrupted Bai Meng loudly, regardless of Bai Meng's use of the word "widow" to refer to Qing Ke.
