Mother Wang didn't respond to Father Wang immediately. She scratched her head, looking thoughtful, and muttered to herself, "Where did I put it? I clearly remember putting it here, but why can't I find it?"
Seeing this, Father Wang pushed open the half-closed French window and walked into the house from the balcony. "Hey! What are you mumbling about? Are you even hearing me?"
"What did you say?" Mother Wang asked calmly without even shaking her head.
"I asked where your son was going so late at night?"
After hearing what Father Wang said, Mother Wang turned around in surprise and responded, "Ah? Did Zhengsheng go out?"
"Yeah, I just drove out."
"Is that so? I guess we should go meet Shang Qingke from the Shang family!"
"Shang Qingke, isn't he done with that woman? Why is he still going to see her? A man who has a family should have responsibilities. He must not go out and mess around with other women. This is irresponsible to himself and his family. When he comes back, I must give him some good advice." Father Wang sat on a chair, took a box of cigarettes from the cabinet, lit a cigarette, and puffed away while talking confidently.
Mother Wang continued to look for something. When she heard Father Wang say this, she suddenly became alert. She walked to the door to check, closed the door tightly, and then returned to the house mysteriously.
She lowered her voice and said to Father Wang, "I'm telling you this! Don't get involved in this matter. Maybe in a few days, we will be promoted to grandparents."
"What? What did you say? Youyou is pregnant?" After hearing this, Mr. Wang was so shocked that he jumped up from his chair.
After all, he longed for a grandson and dreamed of Youyou giving birth to a large family for the Wang family. Although he was not like Wang's mother, who would talk about her thoughts openly, it did not mean that he did not want one.
"What are you thinking? If she can get pregnant, I'll burn incense and eat vegetarian food every day without any complaints. Besides, even if she gets pregnant, she's nobody! She can give you a big fat grandson in a few days."
Mother Wang had a look of disgust on her face, and from her words one could tell how dissatisfied she was with Youyou as her daughter-in-law.
"Then...then...you just said..."
Mother Wang came closer to Father Wang, smiled, and lowered her voice, saying, "I just passed by Zhengsheng and the others' room and heard Youyou ask Zhengsheng if Shang Qingke's child from the Shang Dong family was his own flesh and blood. Zhengsheng actually didn't deny it. There's no rumor that the eldest daughter of the Shang family has ever been engaged or in a relationship with anyone except our Zhengsheng. I heard that the child is three years old this year, and the dates match up perfectly. I think this child is most likely from our Wang family."
When Mr. Wang heard this, he was a little disappointed. This was obviously just groundless accusations, which made him happy for nothing.
"You're just guessing, you're making it sound like it's real."
"Don't disbelieve me, I will definitely prove it to you. This child must be ours."
As Mother Wang spoke, she picked up a newspaper from the cabinet and looked at the photo of Cha Cha in the newspaper carefully, with a satisfied expression on her face.
"Hey! What a pretty little face! She's sure to be a beauty when she grows up. Look at those eyes, that nose. Doesn't it look a lot like our Zhengsheng?"
Mother Wang's mind was working so hard that she thought Cha Cha and Zheng Sheng looked alike.
She handed the newspaper to Wang's father and forced him to read it.
Father Wang glanced at him impatiently and said, "How can they be similar? I think it's just a psychological effect."
"I won't tell you anymore. It's useless to tell you. Just wait! I will definitely make everything clear. She is just a girl, but after Zhengsheng marries her, he can have more children. It won't be a problem for him to have grandchildren."
Mother Wang stroked Cha Cha's face in the newspaper and was very fond of this "little granddaughter" whom she had never met.
Seeing her like this, Father Wang shook his head helplessly, sat back in his chair, and sighed deeply. He thought Mother Wang was obsessed with having a grandson, and that every child she saw was like a Wang family member.
After entertaining herself for a while, she threw down the newspaper and continued to search around.
She turned the house upside down, as if she wanted to dig deep into the ground.
"Why can't I find it? I clearly remembered putting it here, where did it go?"
She was so anxious that she muttered to herself and paced around the room, stamping her feet.
"What are you looking for? Can you be quiet for a while? If you continue like this, you will tear down this house." Dad Wang finally couldn't help it and asked Mom Wang with a frown.
"That's it. My mother left me the Qingluan bracelet, a family heirloom that is passed down to daughters, not sons. I never thought highly of Youyou, so I didn't give it to her, thinking I'd pass it on to a granddaughter after I had one. Now, I finally have a granddaughter, and I finally have someone to pass on my Qingluan bracelet to."
Mother Wang sat down on the bed like a deflated ball, speaking dejectedly.
"I'm wondering if you've gotten senile. Didn't you give the bracelet to Youyou last time you were drunk? Didn't you ask her to keep it safe and pass it down from generation to generation?"
Father Wang sneered and said in a mocking tone.
"What? You said I gave the bracelet to Youyou? How is this possible? How could I..."
Mother Wang was so shocked that she roared loudly. She couldn't believe that she would give the heirloom to Youyou, who couldn't bear children. But her voice became smaller and smaller, and she didn't have the courage to say anything more.
She seemed to remember something and beat her chest in regret.
She sat there quietly for a while, then suddenly took off into the air and hurried out the door.
