Chapter 30: Unexpected Storms

Seeing Ji Zong sleeping with a pale face and covered in mud, Shu Mei suddenly threw herself to the ground, grabbed Ji Zong's clothes on her chest, and kept shaking him and calling him.

"Ji Zong, Ji Zong, what's wrong with you? Wake up! Ji Zong, can you hear me? Wake up..."

"Ji Zong's wife, don't be sad. Hurry and change Ji Zong's wet clothes! If he wears wet clothes for too long, he will get sick even if he's not sick at all."

The guard wiped the sweat from his forehead and gave Shumei advice.

"Yes, yes, yes, Dad, please help get Ji Zong into the house!"

Zhang Binglin didn't care about anything else and leaned over to carry his son into the house. But after all, Ji Zong weighed more than 100 pounds, and he was over 50 years old, so it was really difficult for him to lift Ji Zong.

"Okay, let me help you carry it in!"

Seeing Zhang Binglin's face flushed with struggle, the guard stepped forward to help. Shumei followed behind, repeatedly bowing to the guard to express her gratitude.

The next morning, Ji Zong finally opened his eyes to the rising sun. Looking at Shu Mei lying beside him, then at his sleeping child, a happy smile spread across his face. He reached out to touch Shu Mei's sleeping face, intending to give her a kiss as usual. But then he realized he couldn't move, couldn't even turn sideways. Panicking, he exerted all his strength to sit up in bed, but tried repeatedly to no avail.

Shumei, who was standing next to him, was woken up by his noise and opened her dazed eyes. "Ji Zong, you're finally awake? You scared me to death last night." Seeing Ji Zong's painful expression, she continued to ask, "What's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere? Does your wound hurt? I gave you some medicinal wine last night. If the pain is too severe, let's go to the hospital."

"My lower half is paralyzed!"

"Let me see!"

Shumei tried to help Jizong sit up from the bed, but as soon as she let go, Jizong fell back down on the bed as if he had no bones. Shumei tried to deceive herself many times, but finally, after Jizong's persuasion, she stopped her crazy behavior.

She jumped out of bed, put on her clothes hastily, rushed out and knocked on Wu Ju and Zhang Binglin's doors.

"Dad, Mom, something's wrong. Hurry up and take a look. Ji Zong... Ji Zong can't move."

Her voice was filled with tears, but she fought to hold back the tears. Wu Ju and Zhang Binglin, upon hearing the noise, hurriedly dressed and came over to Ji Zong, touching and pinching him. However, Ji Zong's legs showed no reaction to their actions. The three of them stood in front of Ji Zong's bed, looking at each other, unsure of what to do.

"Dad, go get the bike and we'll take Ji Zong to the hospital."

Shumei struggled to help Jizong put on his clothes, and together with Zhang Binglin, they carried Jizong to the cart in the yard.

"Shumei, please come inside quickly. You're still in confinement after giving birth! Your mother and I can take Jizong to the hospital."

Zhang Binglin usually kept quiet, but he had a very kind heart. He knew very well that Shumei had been crying all day long because of the child. He knew it was not easy for her. She had just given birth and her body was still very weak. He didn't want Shumei to run around for Jizong again.

"Yes! Shumei, go into the house and take care of yourself." Ji Zong also persuaded Shumei.

"No, I'm going. Nothing is more important than you right now."

At this moment, she was so anxious that she couldn't think of anything else. She had a strong feeling that Ji Zong would collapse. It was true that people always exaggerated sadness and imagined the worst before things were set in stone.

"You go? What about the child?"

Even with Ji Zong in this state, Wu Ju still refused to give Shu Mei a good look, glaring at her fiercely. Furthermore, she had already taken it personally, blaming Shu Mei for Ji Zong's injury. If it weren't for you, a vixen, who brought disaster upon us, would my Ji Zong have fought so hard and ended up like this today?

"Let's carry the children. Mother, you carry one and I'll carry one. More people will be able to look after them. Please, Mother, just let me go."

Shumei looked at Jizong's haggard face and tears welled up in her eyes again. Jizong was most afraid of Shumei crying, so he quickly helped her to plead with Wu Ju.

"Mother, just let Shumei go! Shumei can read, and she's indispensable in some places."

"Alright! Go carry the child."

“Hey!”

The two hurried back to the house and carried the child on their backs. Zhang Binglin was responsible for pulling the cart, and Shumei and Wu Ju helped push it from behind. The family rushed to the hospital exhausted.

Fate really played tricks on them. They have become frequent visitors to the hospital. Not long after they came back from the hospital, they were sent to the hospital again.

On the way, Ji Zong discovered that he had urinary incontinence. He was embarrassed to talk about it and thought a lot about it. He even made the worst plan, which was to report to the King of Hell. When he thought of this, he was so scared. He was afraid that he would leave and never see Shu Mei and his two newborn daughters again.

Seeing Shumei sweating profusely, desperately pushing the cart, he cried. After a long internal struggle, he finally let it go. No one can resist fate. If his time is truly up, then at least he should name his two children! Now, it's the only thing that can make him feel like a father again. He's been so busy making money for so long that he hasn't even named his children.

"Shumei, I've named Dabao and Xiaobao. Listen carefully and remember them well."

"What names do you choose now? When you get better, you can write their names in the family tree yourself."
