Xiao Shuangning kept saying nice things to Shumei. She was really afraid that Shumei would get angry and get sick.
She knew Shumei's physical condition, and she had given everything for her and the family. Coupled with her previous serious illness, she felt that this motherly love was even more precious. Even so, she usually felt a sense of loss, afraid that Shumei would suddenly disappear like she had when she was a child.
She was afraid that Shumei would collapse from exhaustion, but now, she was a little worried whether her exhausted body could still withstand her torture.
"Let's go! Take me to see your teacher."
Shumei was stunned for a moment, and finally spoke. Her expression was very calm, so calm that Xiao Shuangning felt scared.
Xiao Shuangning nodded in response, walked in front to lead the way, and took Shumei towards the office.
Along the way, the mother and daughter didn't say a word.
Shumei did not ask about the details of the matter and followed Xiao Shuangning silently.
She didn't say a word, and Xiao Shuangning didn't dare to speak either. The two of them just walked forward, one in front of the other, like two strangers who didn't know each other very well.
Arriving at the office door, it was wide open. Zhou Yu's mother was still sleeping on the table, and the homeroom teacher, Mr. Li, was sitting at his desk, playing with a pen out of boredom.
When she saw Xiao Shuangning, she rushed forward to greet her as if she had seen a savior.
"Mother Zhang Shuangning, you're finally here!"
She came forward, excitedly grabbed Shumei's hand, and her furrowed brows relaxed.
"Teacher Li, I'm so sorry. Our Ningning has caused you trouble and worry. I'm so sorry. If she causes trouble again in the future, you should take a stick and beat her to death." Shumei apologized to the teacher embarrassedly.
"I actually let the teacher hit me? Did I hear that correctly? Mom, how could you be so cruel?"
Xiao Shuangning had never seen Shumei be so cruel to her before. She looked at Shumei with an incredible look.
"Zhang Shuangning has always been obedient and sensible. I don't know what's wrong with her this semester. She keeps getting into accidents. Oh! Let's not talk about other things. Let's deal with the current issues first."
"Okay, okay, thank you for your hard work, Teacher Li."
After a brief conversation, Teacher Li walked over to Zhou Yu's mother, gently pulled her arm and shook it, "Zhou Yu's mother, Zhou Yu's mother, wake up, wake up."
"Get out of here! Can't you see I'm sleeping?" Zhou Yu's mother waved her strong arms and fiercely pushed Teacher Li's arm away.
Teacher Li raised an eyebrow slightly, gave an awkward smile, and raised her voice, "Zhou Yu's mother and Zhang Shuangning's mother are here. Do you still want justice?"
"Is anyone here? Where? Where? Where?" Perhaps the three words Zhang Shuangning had already been branded in her mind. When she heard Teacher Li call out Zhang Shuangning's name, she suddenly raised her head from the table, wiped the saliva from the corner of her mouth, and looked around for Shumei.
Shumei was standing in the perfect position, blocked by Teacher Li. Zhou Yu's mother looked around but couldn't find her.
Shumei walked out from behind Teacher Li and gave Zhou Yu's mother an awkward smile as she stood up from her chair. She said self-reproachfully, "Hello, I'm Zhang Shuangning's mother."
"You are finally here. Your daughter beat my son so hard that he was sent to the hospital and his leg was broken. Tell me! What are you going to do?" Zhou Yu's mother rubbed her blurry eyes, stretched her neck and shouted at Shumei in a hoarse voice.
What? His legs are broken? Even if I were a strongman, I wouldn't be able to break his legs, right? Why do I feel like this is a blackmail attempt on our part?
"Yes, yes, we were wrong. It was Ningning who let your child down. We will pay for your child's medical expenses, and I will also ask Ningning to apologize to your child in person."
Zhou Yu's mother didn't expect Shumei to be so easy to talk to. For a moment, she didn't know how to respond.
"Well... then this is of course necessary, this is what you should do. Of course, these alone are not enough. It will take some time for my Zhou Yu to recover from his injury, so he won't be able to come to school. What should we do with the missed lessons?" Zhou Yu's mother was stunned for a long time before she spoke hesitantly.
"As for homework, I'll ask Ningning to take notes and give your child extra lessons after school. Ningning's grades are pretty good, so she should be able to handle it. Teacher Li can attest to that."
As soon as Shumei finished speaking, Teacher Li agreed, "She has always had excellent grades and is the class monitor. She can do this."
"Class monitor?" Zhou Yu's mother cast a suspicious look at Xiao Shuangning.
She muttered to herself: Such a person, and still the class monitor? Either the teacher is blind, or this girl has become a spirit, confusing everyone.
"Yes! Her grades have ranked second in the grade for five consecutive years, and her brother is ranked first. Not only is she capable of doing the job, but she might even be able to improve your Zhou Yu's grades." Teacher Li seemed to see the doubt in Zhou Yu's mother's eyes and continued to help smooth things over.
"Yes! I will definitely ask my Ningning to do her best to tutor your child and will never let him fall behind in class. This is what being a parent is all about, it's not easy for anyone."
She paused thoughtfully and continued, "It's already happened. We should consider the children and find a solution that will benefit them. After all, they are classmates and will study together in the future. I believe you don't want to see the two children become enemies because of this incident. The children are still young, and this will not be good for their physical and mental health, right?"
Shumei's attitude was very sincere and she always had a smile on her face.
