Chapter 351: No Cure

Maybe fate was just playing a joke on her and just couldn't bear to see her do well.

Just as good days were about to come, she found herself ill. The feeling of illness was very familiar, just like the last time she had breast cancer.

She couldn't ignore the waves of pain that came one after another.

Every time she felt the pain, she would break out in a sweat. She didn't dare tell Tang Boyi about this, and of course she didn't dare tell the children, especially Xiao Youchen. Xiao Youchen was at a critical moment, and she didn't want her to affect Xiao Youchen's exams.

In front of her children, she pretended to be calm. Sometimes when she felt pain, she would even lock herself in the room and endure the pain alone.

She had a bad feeling and went to the hospital for a checkup with trepidation. Whether it was good or bad, she had to face it bravely.

While she was selling eggs in town, she went to the county hospital alone for a check-up. The results would be known in more than ten days.

For her, these ten days have felt like years.

More than ten days later...

People were coming and going in the corridor of the county hospital. She sat on a chair, holding the test results, anxiously waiting for cheers.

"Kang Shumei!"

Finally, her name was called. She took the test report and walked into the doctor's office with a nervous mood.

The doctor took the report, glanced at it briefly, and looked a little serious.

"Have you ever had breast cancer?"

"Um!"

"Are you alone? No family members are accompanying you?"

Shumei dreaded hearing this, because the doctor had said the same thing the last time she was ill. With the results almost ready to come, she clung to a glimmer of hope, hoping she was overthinking it.

She took a deep breath and pretended to be calm, saying, "Doctor, I've lived for so many extra years. I can handle any outcome. Just tell me straight."

Since Shumei said so, the doctor couldn't be shy about it anymore. "Since you've already experienced it, I won't beat around the bush. You'd better be mentally prepared."

"It's okay, doctor, just tell me the truth."

"Okay, judging from the report, your illness must have relapsed."

The doctor said this lightly, but to Shumei, it was like a poison that penetrated her intestines. Her heart felt like it was being bitten by thousands of ants, making it difficult for her to breathe.

She was half-conscious, feeling dizzy and dazed. Despite having experienced a near-death experience, she still couldn't face it calmly. She was even more frightened and reluctant than before.

Now, she will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel. Her two children are so well-behaved and sensible, and she wants to see them go to high school and college, and see them get married, have children, and build happy families.

There is also Tang Boyi. Their relationship can be described as bumpy. It seems like they have been separated by some unknown combination of circumstances for their entire lives and have never had two days of real happiness.

"Are you okay?" The doctor asked with concern when he saw her in a daze.

Shumei finally came to her senses. "I...I'm fine, doctor. Can my illness be cured?"

"Your situation is like this. It's called long-distance metastasis. It's possible to cure this condition. The important thing is to have a positive attitude and have confidence in yourself."

The doctor spoke in high-sounding terms, but Shumei could tell from his tone that this time her illness was truly incurable. God had already given her one chance, and there was no way he would give her a second.

"So what's the cure rate? Is it expensive?"

"There are cases of people being cured, but as I said before, you have to have faith in yourself. If you don't even have the will to live, no medicine can help. As for the cost, it depends on the individual, ranging from a little over ten thousand to several tens of thousands."

Are there any cases of cure?

Hehe! The doctor wouldn't even reveal the approximate cure rate. She knew with her toes that this was indirectly telling her that she wasn't going to live long. The doctor's subsequent nonsense was just to comfort her.

"Okay, thank you doctor, I understand!" She stood up and nodded to the doctor in thanks.

She walked out of the hospital in a daze. After returning home, she suppressed her inner fear and helplessness and tried her best to act as normal so that the children would not notice anything unusual.

She did not tell Boyi about this news either. She believed that a short pain was better than a long one. If she really could not escape this disaster, she would rather wait until the day she died to let Boyi know the truth.

Of course, she did not give up her last hope and continued to go to the hospital for treatment regularly according to the doctor's instructions.

The end of the semester came in a blink of an eye. Today was the day for Xiao Youchen to receive his test results. He sat in the classroom, waiting for the teacher to hand out his grades.

He worked so hard, and the result was predictable. When the results came out, his score exceeded the admission score of the best middle school in the county by far.

He finally got what he wanted, and although the result was expected, he couldn't help but feel excited.

With this good news, he returned home happily and wanted to tell Shumei the good news as soon as possible.

As soon as he entered the room, he saw Shumei fainted on the floor in the main room, with peanuts scattered all over the floor.

He rushed over, grabbed Shumei and shook her violently, shouting, "Mom, mom, what's wrong with you? Wake up, wake up..."

He shouted for a while, but Shumei still didn't respond. Only then did he realize how pale and haggard Shumei's face was. He hadn't looked at Shumei carefully for a long time because he had been preparing for the exam.

My mother was sick, but I didn't even realize it. Little Youchen felt anxious and guilty.

He called Wen Dazui's family to help take Shumei to the hospital because he was still a child and could not take Shumei to the hospital on his own.
