Chapter 43: A Thousand Miles Away

Originally, he thought that Shumei and Boyi were innocent, and since Shumei was so good to Xiao Youchen, he made peace with Shumei. But now, seeing that Boyi was so heartbroken that he abandoned his family and children for Shumei, Wen Dazui felt even more hatred towards Shumei.

"No matter what, I won't help you take care of Xiao Youchen. Are you doing this to my dead sister?"

"Sister, please, isn't Ji Zong my brother? He's lying in bed now, if I don't help him, who will?"

"Come on! Why haven't I seen others so dedicated to this, willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of their lives? Are you lying to me? There are so many people who are close friends with Ji Zong, why haven't I seen them act like you? Even our own family members don't care as much as you do."

Wen Dazui was talking with saliva flying everywhere, his neck stretched out, pointing and gesticulating, looking very indignant.

Or perhaps the child had never seen Wen Dazui's terrifying side before, so she burst into tears. "Cry, cry, all you do is cry. Did I owe you two anything in my past life? Not only did I compensate you with my sister, but I also have to serve you. Go, go to your father."

Wen Dazui said this as he pushed little Youchen into Boyi's arms and pushed Boyi and the child out the door.

"Big sister? Big sister?" Boyi held the child and called Wen Dazui again and again in a pleading tone.

"I, Wen Dazui, have done my best and raised little Youchen to this age. If you insist on leaving, our two families will have no further ties and will never have any contact with each other until we die." After saying this, Wen Dazui slammed the door shut. She leaned against the door, listening to little Youchen's crying, and felt bad.

People are all made of flesh and blood. After all, she raised him. Although her words were harsh, she didn't think so in her heart. She just wanted to force Boyi to turn back and know what he should do.

Boyi held the child in his arms, looked at the locked door, stopped begging, and rushed into the night with little Youchen.

Hearing the child's voice getting weaker and weaker, Wen Dazui opened the door anxiously. It was pitch black outside, and there was no trace of Boyi and the child.

Her husband came out of the house and stood at the door to persuade Wen Dazui: "Can't bear to let it go, right?"

"Who said that? I don't owe them anything. Let's go back to the house and sleep. Everyone should clean up the snow in front of their own door, and they don't have the time to worry about the frost on other people's roofs."

Without Wen Dazui to help look after the child, Boyi carried little Youchen on his back, bought a ticket overnight, and embarked on a journey of thousands of miles to save his beloved.

Zhang Binglin returned home and told Ji Zong everything about how Shu Mei was sold to S West.

Ji Zong leaned against the head of the bed, listening to Zhang Binglin's story anxiously. Ji Zong, who had been in a depressed mood, was so anxious after hearing this earth-shattering news that he vomited blood and rolled off the bed.

Zhang Binglin rushed forward to help him. Wu Ju was so anxious that she threw the child aside and went to help.

Seeing the blood at the corner of Ji Zong's mouth, Wu Ju was terrified. "Blood! Ji Zong, you're spitting blood! My son! Ji Zong! Why are you doing this? You're already like this. If anything happens to you again, this family will really fall apart."

Wu Ju and Zhang Binglin struggled to help Ji Zong onto the bed. Wu Ju's face turned pale with fear, and she wiped the blood from the corner of Ji Zong's mouth with trembling hands. Her voice was trembling, and her lips, which were already not full, trembled slightly.

Ji Zong's haggard face was devoid of any color, and his eyes were lifeless. No matter how Wu Ju tried to persuade him, he remained silent, lying there like a walking corpse.

"Ji Zong, can you please say something? Your wife was sold, you should be sad, even if you can just cry your heart out or ask your parents to help you find Shu Mei! Say something! Don't scare mother!"

Wu Ju sat sprawled on the bed, chattering non-stop, hoping Ji Zong would say something. Ji Zong's expression was vacant and unsettling. Unable to persuade her, Wu Ju simply carried little Shuang Ning to the bed and pinched the sleeping child, trying to summon her son's spirit back with the sound of his cries.

“Wow wow wow…”

"Son! Look, look at the child. For the child's sake, you should be well. Comfort her! Look how sad she is crying. Come on and comfort her."

Even so, Ji Zong still said nothing, but his expression was much better than before. At least one could see that he was sad, and tears were flowing from the corners of his eyes.

"Okay! It's getting late, let's take the kids to bed! Let Ji Zong have some peace and quiet."

Zhang Binglin thought that Ji Zong couldn't accept it for the time being, and that he would be fine if he calmed down, so he pulled Wu Ju out of the house.

Shumei was brought back to the village and to Zhuoer's home.

The old lady and the fool came out of the room to greet them. Zhuoer's woman was also among them, the honest woman. When she saw Shumei being dragged back by her man and saw Shumei with bruises all over her body, her eyes were filled with sympathy and tears.

Zhuo Er dragged Shumei back to the same room and threw her to the ground. She lay on her side, curled up in a ball.

Zhuo Er stormed out of the room, while the others stood guard at the door, coldly watching Shu Mei lying on the ground. The fool tried to rush back into the house, but was stopped by the old woman. The honest woman used her arms to support the three children surrounding her, clearly unable to help.

Two minutes later, Zhuo Er returned to the room with a cane and started whipping Shu Mei, who was lying on the ground. Shu Mei rolled on the ground, clutching her head in pain, and screamed in agony.

The Zhuoer woman quickly covered the children's eyes with her hands. A sympathetic expression appeared on her face, and she subconsciously lowered her eyelids, unable to bear to look at such a scene.
