Chapter 46: Punishing Evil and Promoting Good

Standing by Qianqian's bed, Qianqian held Shumei's hand tightly and looked at her with gratitude. "Shumei, sister, dear sister, I, Xiong Qianqian, have no such virtue or ability to meet a kind person like you who saved me from the hell of wanting to live but not die. For the rest of my life, I am willing to work like a slave to repay your kindness."

Xiong Qianqian spoke with sincerity and tears in her eyes.

"There's no such thing as a big favor or a small one. Now that we've encountered this, there's no reason to stand idly by. Go back to town, be a clean and honest person, and live a down-to-earth life."

Xiong Qianqian, tears already streaming down her face, nodded vigorously in response to Shumei. The two embraced each other again. This time, after a narrow escape, not only did she rescue the woman who had been sold and uncover the evil deeds of the witch, she also gained a sincere friendship and made a friend who shared weal and woe.

After this incident, Shumei understood even more clearly that no matter how hard or difficult life was, it was no reason to give up. As long as she persevered, the clouds would eventually clear and the moon would shine. She hoped that she could live a more wonderful life for the rest of her life, going against the current and moving forward courageously.

Xiong Qianqian and Boyi had almost recovered, and the three of them returned to their hometown with little Youchen.

In order to turn over a new leaf and not return to that mixed place, Xiong Qianqian followed Shumei and the others back to "Little Taiwan".

After escaping danger, Shumei returned to her hometown after many days away. Looking at the beautiful scenery and the simple folks, she felt a sense of belonging unlike anything she had ever felt before: "Little Taiwan" was so beautiful, and the folks were so kind.

"Boyi, you are injured. Let us help you send Xiao Youchen to your doorstep!" Shumei originally insisted on sending Boyi to his doorstep because Boyi had an arm injury, and then she was willing to hand Xiao Youchen over to him.

"It's just a minor injury, nothing to worry about." Boyi wanted to reject Shumei's kindness. As the old saying goes, she didn't want Shumei to be attacked by any rumors.

"Don't be so pretentious, just listen to me." Shumei carried little Youchen and walked towards Boyi's house, with Xiong Qianqian following closely behind. Boyi had no choice but to follow dejectedly.

But as soon as she entered the village, she met Uncle Liu from the village, and Uncle Liu's words disrupted Shumei's plan.

"Shumei! You're back."

"Hey! Uncle Liu, I'm back." Shumei responded to Uncle Liu with a smile.

"Oh! If only I could come back a few days earlier." Uncle Liu shook his head helplessly and continued walking forward with his pipe in his mouth.

Shumei heard the hidden meaning in Uncle Liu's words and hurriedly asked, "Uncle Liu, what do you mean by that?"

"If you had come back earlier, you would have been able to see Ji Zong for the last time. He happened to go up the mountain today, and he was sealing the grave when I came down." Uncle Liu stopped, stunned for a moment, and said with some regret in his tone.

Before Shumei could finish her words, she felt dizzy. Fortunately, Xiong Qianqian and Boyi supported her and she did not fall to the ground.

"Sister Shumei, Sister Shumei..."

"Shumei, Shumei..."

Boyi quickly took little Youchen from her hands and called Shumei's name anxiously.

Shumei was probably overly excited, her anger racing, her blood flow accelerating and her brain's oxygen supply temporarily deprived, causing her to faint. When she recovered a bit, she rushed to Uncle Liu like a madman, grabbed his arm, and asked, "Uncle Liu, where is Jizong's grave? Where is it?"

"Shumei, please accept my condolences! Jizong's grave is in the privet trees on the back mountain. If you hurry, you can still catch the grave."

Shumei let go of Uncle Liu's hand and ran up the mountain, followed closely by Xiong Qianqian and Boyi.

She ran to the privet forest, pushed aside the villagers who came to see Ji Zong off for the last time, squeezed to the front of Ji Zong's grave, and knelt on the ground with a thud.

"Mom, do you see that's Shumei?" Zhang Xiaoqin saw Shumei suddenly rushing in, pointed at Shumei, and asked while pulling Wu Ju's arm.

"It's true! This evil woman killed my son, but she came back unharmed. I... I..." Wu Ju looked around, picked up a branch on the ground, and prepared to hit Shumei.

Seeing this, Zhang Xiaoqin quickly snatched the branch from her hand, firmly stopping her, and whispered in her ear, "Mother, everyone is here! You're just shooting yourself in the foot! I'll deal with her when we get back. Don't worry, I'll definitely help Ji Zong vent his anger this time."

The grave has been filled with soil, the spirit room and spirit money have been burned, and the grave has been covered with sealing paper.

Shumei desperately dug the grave with her bare hands, trying to dig Jizong out from the grave and see him for the last time.
