Chapter 62: From a glorious past to a fallen dog

Wencai quickly put on his helmet, got on the motorcycle first, and shouted at Shumei to get on.

Wencai's driving skills were truly impressive, and the speed was frighteningly high. Shumei could only see the trees on either side of the road rapidly receding, and all she could hear was the hum of the motorcycle.

"Turn left, turn left..."

Shumei was sitting on the back of the motorcycle, pointing the way for Wencai.

Wencai made a sharp turn and almost threw Shumei out. Shumei was so scared that she hugged Wencai's waist tightly.

"Hold on tight, I'm not responsible if you fall."

This motorcycle was much faster than a bicycle, and they soon arrived at the village entrance. The village roads were all dirt roads and very narrow in many places. Shumei suggested that Wencai get off and walk, and the two of them pushed the motorcycle into the village.

Wencai refused to do so. Normally he felt tired after walking a few more steps, let alone pushing this heavy motorcycle. No matter how Shumei persuaded him, Wencai refused to walk into the village.

Without Shumei's guidance, Wencai didn't know which direction to go, so he could only stop the car and "discuss" with Shumei. Shumei took the opportunity to get out of the car and take off her helmet.

"Or, you can wait here for me. I'll be back soon after I deliver the money."

"You want me to wait for you here? Do you think that's possible? Stop talking nonsense and come up quickly."

Wencai was afraid that his voice was not loud enough, so he took off his helmet and roared at Shumei in a commanding tone.

Shumei had no choice but to climb back onto the motorcycle, holding her helmet.

"Where are you going?"

"Go straight until you reach the intersection, then turn left."

Wencai pressed the starter pedal hard, shifting gears with his hands on the handlebars. The motorcycle roared like a lion and sped toward the village, sending dust flying everywhere.

The motorcycle twisted and turned slowly on this uneven mountain village road.

Shumei sat on the motorcycle nervously, afraid that Wencai would ride the motorcycle into a ditch without paying attention.

"Master, slow down. The road ahead is narrower."

"I have eyes and can see. I don't need you to make any unnecessary efforts here."

Needless to say, as soon as Shumei and Wencai entered the village, they became the focus of the villagers. Everyone was pointing and talking about them.

Arriving at the door of the storage room, Wen Dazui heard the villagers' chatter and ran out with little Youchen in his arms to join in the fun. Seeing Shumei from a distance, she shouted to her.

"Shumei, are you back?"

"Well, Sister Huimei, come sit here with you later."

Before Wen Dazui could say anything else, Shumei and the others had already walked away.

"Turn left, turn left, there's a pond ahead, ah..."

Perhaps Shumei was distracted by her conversation with Wen Dazui, and when she came to her senses, everything was irreversible. She yelled at Wencai to turn left, but the motorcycle wheels had already reached the edge of the pond. Although Wencai tried his best to remedy the situation, the motorcycle still rushed into the pond.

At this time of year, the water in the pond is still icy cold, and the feeling is extremely sour.

Shumei couldn't swim, and she struggled desperately in the water, calling for help.

Wencai was an excellent swimmer. While swimming towards the shore, he kept complaining in his heart: Ever since I met you, the plague god, nothing has gone my way. It's really like one thing overcomes another. I, Li Wencai, who is full of knowledge and fearless, actually ended up in the hands of you, the plague god.

"Help... Gulp gulp... Help!"

Hearing Shumei's cries behind him, Li Wencai, who had already swam to the shore, felt a little bit sorry and swam back to save Shumei.

The villagers gathered around and helped to pull Shumei ashore. With their help, Wencai finally managed to get his beloved motorcycle ashore after much effort.

The two men were wet all over and sat on the shore weakly. After they had caught their breath, Wencai got on his motorcycle and tinkered around there.

Shumei thanked the villagers who came to help her profusely, smiling and bowing to them.

It was probably because the motorcycle had gotten wet. Wencai fiddled with it for a long time but couldn't start it. Now it seemed that Shumei's words had come true and he had to push the motorcycle back home.

"Oh my god, damn it, what a crow's mouth."

When Wencai saw that the motorcycle wouldn't start, he angrily slapped the front of the car and kept swearing.

"What's wrong?"

Looking at the angry Wencai, Shumei dragged her heavy body and walked up to him.

"What's wrong? You still have the nerve to ask what's wrong? It's flooded and I can't light the fire."

"Then...then push it! We'll be at my house soon. Look, it's just that yard, not a few steps away."

Shumei pointed to her yard and suggested that Wencai push the car over. Wencai got out of the car and winked at Shumei, signaling her to push the car.

"I push?"

Shumei couldn't believe her eyes, pointed at her nose and asked in confusion.
