Chapter 78: Recruiting Apprentices

"You've soiled my shoes." The loan shark still held the two steel balls in his hand and said coldly.

After hearing this, Wencai hurriedly used his clothes to polish the loan shark's shoes, completely trampling his dignity on the ground.

The loan shark had originally set his sights on his house, and his constant calls for repayment were merely an attempt to pressure Wencai into making a decision. Now that Wencai had agreed to use the house as collateral for the debt, his goal was halfway achieved.

"Okay, you've polished your shoes well. Remember what you said today. If you don't see the property deed in three months, your family will collect your body. By the way, even if you don't return the principal, you still have to pay the interest."

The loan shark looked down at his shoes, a smug look on his face.

"Okay, okay, thank you, boss. I will pay the interest on time." Wencai knelt on the ground and kowtowed repeatedly to express his gratitude.

By the time he finished his kowtow and stopped, the loan shark and his thugs had already left the yard. He then crawled up from the ground, sat against the wall, took out a cigarette from his pocket and started smoking, looking as miserable as a beggar.

He then used various excuses to defraud the old aunt of money again and again, repeatedly extending the deadline for his debt repayment. He only wanted to delay the deadline until after the anniversary of Shumei's husband's death, and then use the pretext of being engaged to Shumei as an excuse to get the old aunt to hand over the house to him so that he could pay off his debts.

He sold everything that could be sold at home.

In order to avoid suspicion from the old aunts, he occasionally shamelessly asked Shumei to accompany him home for dinner and play the role of a couple with him. In this way, Qianqian finally had the honor of meeting the legendary Li Wencai.

One day, Wencai found Qianqian's barber shop according to the address Shumei left him. As soon as he arrived at the door, he was greeted by Qianqian enthusiastically.

"Hello, do you want a haircut? Please come in." Qianqian smiled and welcomed Wencai in.

Wencai looked around the barber shop, then looked Qianqian up and down. He sat down in the haircut chair and said with a smile, "Not bad service. Are you Xiong Qianqian?"

"Do you know me?"

"Not really, I just heard Shumei talk about it."

"Shumei, do you know Sister Shumei? May I ask who you are?"

"I am..." Wencai paused, wanting to tease Qianqian, "I am her man."

A man? Upon hearing this, Qianqian's smile instantly disappeared, and she looked at Wencai in the mirror with confusion.

"Why? You don't believe it?"

Seeing Qianqian stunned with astonishment, Wencai was overjoyed and asked Qianqian questions.

"It's not that I don't believe it, but why haven't I heard Sister Shumei mention it? It shouldn't be possible! If it really happened, Sister Shumei would not have not told me..."

Before Qianqian could finish her words, she was interrupted by Shumei who came out from the inner room. Shumei saw the face in the mirror and asked, "Wencai, why are you here?"

"Wencai? Li Wencai, are you Li Wencai?" Qianqian looked at Wencai with hatred.

Wencai stood up from his chair, walked over to Shumei, and hugged her waist tightly. "Yes, I am Li Wencai, your sister Shumei's man."

"Let me go! What nonsense are you talking about? I'm telling you, Li Wencai, if you continue to act so frivolously, I'll kick you out." Shumei forcibly pried Wencai's hand away and pushed him aside.

"Hey! You've become more irritable after not seeing you for a few days!" Wencai said, and deliberately approached Shumei in a frivolous manner, wanting to reach out and touch Shumei's chin.

Before Shumei could dodge, Qianqian pulled her behind her.

"So you're the heartless Li Wencai? You're the one who stole something and then blamed others, the idle and dissolute young man who doesn't work properly?"

Qianqian looked at Wencai with disdain, and her words were full of sarcasm.

"Kang Shumei, what right do you have to talk about me behind my back and even tell others about my affairs, you vicious woman."

After hearing Qianqian's words, Wencai was furious. He pointed at Shumei and cursed her, wishing he could rush over and beat Shumei up.

Qianqian tried her best to protect Shumei and refused to let him pass.

"Okay, we still have business to do! Don't yell here and disrupt our business. If you have something to say, just say it. If not, please leave."

Wencai then remembered that he had come to ask Shumei to accompany him back to the theater, so how could he have clashed with them? Isn't this just shooting himself in the foot?

He finally calmed down and sat down on the sofa as limply as an eggplant hit by frost.
