Chapter 85 Paternity Test

"See, I knew you wouldn't believe it. In fact, I couldn't believe it myself. It felt like a dream. My aunt arranged a blind date for me today. If Boyi hadn't suddenly come and pulled me away, I really don't know how it would have ended. This fate is so wonderful. Nineteen years. Boyi said he had been silently waiting for me for nineteen years. Such deep affection, how can I not be moved?"

It turns out Boyi had been in love with Shumei since childhood, a deep affection that no one could surpass. Even if she didn't give in, she couldn't gain the upper hand. Qianqian felt her decision was wise; no matter how hard she tried, she would end up hurt.

"So that's how it is. Sister Shumei, you take care of the store while I go buy some groceries. When I come back, you can tell me about Boyi's romantic confession."

Qianqian couldn't bear it any longer. She had to find a place where no one was around, where she could have a good cry and vent all the grievances in her heart. So she took the opportunity to sneak out of the barber shop under the pretext of buying groceries.

"Okay, go ahead! I'm in the store!"

Qianqian quickly ran out of the barbershop. As soon as she was out of Shumei's sight, tears began to fall like pearls on a string. She covered her mouth and nose with her hands, crying as she ran. The more she cried, the sadder she became, and the louder she cried.

It's like the end of the world, nothing but despair and sadness.

She didn't dare stop for a moment, running all the way to the river outside the town, where she sat down under a willow tree on the bank, curled up in a ball, and burst into tears. She used tears to wash away the pain in her heart, but these tears were like wine: the more you drank to drown your sorrows, the more sorrow you felt.

Her unbridled tears didn't make her feel any better. Perhaps her tears had dried up, or perhaps she was tired. Only when the sun set did Qianqian stop crying. She walked to the river and washed her face in the cool water. Then, exhausted, she returned to the barber shop.

As soon as Boyi returned to the village, he went to the home of Wang Bazi in the next village and asked him to choose an auspicious date for the wedding. The date was set on the 28th day of the third lunar month, which was about one or two months later.

Obviously, this was not a satisfactory result for Boyi, but there was no other way. Wang Ba Zi searched several times but could not find a better day earlier.

In the end, Boyi had no choice but to accept it and officially set the date as March 28th.

He told everyone the good news. He wanted everyone to share his happiness. He had finally waited for Shumei and could finally be with her.

Although everyone was pessimistic about them, they still sent their blessings out of courtesy.

Every day since then, Boyi has lived in anticipation of a better future, greeting the rising sun with a smile.

The next day, Wu Ju took Ji Zong's medical checkup form from that year and walked to the town. In order to find out whether Xiao Shuangning was the child of their Zhang family, she even paid to make an appointment and prepared to let the doctor give her a correct answer.

Wu Ju sat on a long wooden bench outside the clinic, anxiously waiting for her number to be called.

Finally, it was her turn. She rushed into the examination room, clutching Ji Zong's stack of medical records tightly in her hand. Before the doctor could speak, she placed the medical records in front of him.

"Doctor, please help me take a look. Does this say that I can't have children?"

The doctor held his eyes and carefully looked at the examination sheet in his hand, "Who is Zhang Jizong to you?"

"It's my son."

"It's like this. According to the test results, it's not that you can't have a child, but it's very difficult. It may be ten years later, or twenty years later. It's possible, as you said, that you won't have the chance to be a father." The doctor patiently explained to Wu Ju. Wu Ju listened attentively, afraid of missing a word.

"Doctor, this is what I'm saying. I have a little granddaughter who's been missing for several years, and now I've found a very similar one. How can I be sure she's my son's biological child?"

Although Wu Ju found a high-sounding excuse and expressed her intentions in a roundabout way, the doctor still saw that she was another mother-in-law who suspected her daughter-in-law of cheating.

The doctor said with a slightly sarcastic smile, "This is very simple. Just do a paternity test and you'll know if it's your son's flesh and blood. Science is infallible. Yes is yes, no is no."

"Paternity test?"

It was obvious that this was the first time Wu Ju had heard such a lofty term. She looked at the doctor with a puzzled look, hoping that he would explain it to her.

"Well!" The doctor knew full well that it would be difficult for this woman, over fifty, to understand if he explained it in scientific terms. He paused for a moment, thinking for a moment, "You know about blood test for kinship, right?"

Wu Ju nodded vigorously, and the doctor continued, "The paternity test works on the same principle. We use an instrument to compare their blood, or genes. If the similarity is almost identical, then it can be confirmed that they are your son's flesh and blood."

The doctor was quite good-tempered and patiently explained the situation to Wu Ju. Wu Ju nodded, seeming to understand. Anyway, he said there was a way to find out if Xiao Shuangning was Ji Zong's child. As for the process and the principle behind it, she was not interested at all.

"But my son has been dead for half a year. What should I do?"

"It's okay. Your wife, or you and your spouse, as long as you are related by blood, can also do it. The accuracy rate is quite high."

"Okay, okay, okay. Doctor, please help me. I want to do it now. Can you use my blood?" Wu Ju couldn't wait to do the paternity test. As long as there was no uncertainty, she would not be able to put her mind at ease.

"Is it her?"

The doctor looked at the little Shuangning in Wu Ju's arms, who was looking around with her big eyes open, and pointed at her and asked Wu Ju.
