Shumei knew what hard times were like. If there was really a way to escape poverty, she would definitely not want Boyi to miss it.
She didn't want to become a stumbling block for Boyi, so she had to convince Boyi to let go. Although love is important, after going through so many ups and downs, she understood that life is not just about love, but also about dreams and distant places.
"Bo Yi, our hearts belong to each other now. No one can separate us. It doesn't matter if we get together earlier or later. As the old saying goes: A good man has ambitions in all directions. I don't want you to stop chasing your dreams because of me. If you don't want me to be with you with guilt, then go ahead and do it. I will always stand behind you and support you."
Shumei held Boyi's hand tightly and told him her true thoughts in a very firm tone.
Seeing the hope in Shumei's eyes, Boyi wavered. He had promised Shumei that he would prioritize his career first, building a career before starting a family. As the old saying goes, after twenty years of waiting, there's no need to rush. Besides, their hearts were already together now.
Boyi fell silent, looking at Shumei with grateful eyes. Shumei also did not say anything, they both understood each other's thoughts, just tacit understanding.
After the two finished dinner, Shumei took the food she had left for Qianqian and prepared to return to the barber shop.
"Boyi, I'm going back first. You should take a shower and go to bed early."
Although both are adults and have been married before, they never crossed the line. No matter what others say, they always stick to their bottom line.
"Wait, it's too late, I'll take you there."
Boyi chased out and said as he locked the door.
The two of them strolled together under the moonlight, on the quiet street. Boyi timidly reached out his hand and gently took Shumei's hand. Even this simple gesture made Boyi's heart beat faster, and Shumei already...
In the reflection of the moonlight, the shadows of the two people holding hands were stretched long on the ground. This picture looked like two lovers who were just beginning to fall in love.
"I almost forgot, could you please help me send my living expenses back tomorrow?"
At the door of the barber shop, the two were about to say goodbye when Shumei suddenly said this.
"You're not going back? Don't you want to go back and see Xiao Shuangning?"
When Boyi mentioned Xiao Shuangning's name, Shumei's face flashed with a helpless expression, "I won't go back. I'm going back while I'm excited. I may not be satisfied. Why bother to upset everyone?"
"Children need motherly love, why don't you bring Xiao Shuangning to your side!"
Shumei looked helpless and didn't tell Boyi about Wu Ju holding Xiao Shuangning hostage. She said weakly, "Let's talk about it later! Okay, I'm here, you can go back!"
"I'll go home with you tomorrow. I'll pick you up at noon. See you there."
Boyi made the decision for Shumei without her permission and decided to go home with her to see the child. He missed Xiao Youchen terribly every day he couldn't see him, and no mother would be reluctant to see her child.
After Boyu finished speaking, he turned around and waved goodbye, not giving Shumei a chance to object.
The next day, Boyi picked up Shumei on time and took her back to the village on his bicycle.
He didn't consider himself an outsider. As the male host, he accompanied Shumei home to look after the children. When passing by the storage room, Boyi also brought little Youchen with him, saying that the two children could see each other more often so that they could get along better in the future.
Needless to say, their return was not welcomed by Wu Ju and Zhang Xiaoqin.
Zhang Xiaoqin was even more sarcastic, and said indirectly, "This man is so despicable that he is invincible. Even ghosts are afraid of him!" She glanced at Shumei and Boyi with disgust.
When Xiao Shuangning saw Shumei coming back, she broke free from Wu Ju's hand and threw herself into Shumei's arms.
“Mom, Mom…”
"Ningning, do you miss your mother?"
"I miss, I miss...my brother?"
Shuangning could actually speak some simple words, and she kept calling "Mom" in her childish voice. Then she saw the timid little Youchen hiding beside Boyi. She walked up to him and called him "Brother" with a smile.
Seeing how friendly Xiao Shuangning was to Xiao Youchen, Shumei and Boyi were delighted. After all, the child was still young, so they didn't have to bother with the pressure of trying to convince him, thus avoiding the many difficulties that reconstituted families face.
Boyi and Shumei leaned over, and Boyi pushed little Youchen, "Youchen, this is Shuangning. She will be your sister from now on. You must protect her well and be a good brother."
"elder brother!"
Xiao Shuangning called Xiao Youchen again in her childish voice, and the timid Xiao Youchen responded in his gentle voice.
"Little sister, this is for you."
Xiao Youchen took one of the two bamboo dragonflies in his hand and gave it to Xiao Shuangning. Although they didn't know how to play with it, Xiao Shuangning was still very happy to accept it.
"Thank you, brother!"
Although the two little ones lived in the same village, Wu Ju rarely let Shuang Ning go out. Furthermore, Wu Ju wasn't happy with Boyi and Shumei being together, so she was even more reluctant for the two children to meet. This was the first time the two children had met!
Seeing the two children having so much fun, Shumei and Boyi looked at each other and smiled, showing a relieved expression.
Wu Ju was not happy to hear this and took Xiao Shuangning away. "I only have this one granddaughter. How can she have a brother? I'm here. Don't let those irrelevant people get close to my granddaughter."
Wu Ju forcefully took little Shuang Ning away, and she cried in panic. Little You Chen was so frightened by the ferocious Wu Ju that he hid behind Boyi, hugging his thigh tightly.
