Chapter 134: Receiving a Letter from Home

Unfortunately, today's "little god of wealth" is a laborious one.

Qianqian and the old woman held the little guy down together, but he still struggled hard and refused to have his hair cut no matter what. It was as if they were cutting off his flesh, and the sound he made was louder than that of a pig being slaughtered.

"Let me go, I won't cut it, let me go quickly, ah..."

The little guy kept muttering, asking Qianqian to let him go.

This wasn't the first time Qianqian had encountered something like this. She held the little guy's head firmly with one hand, and with the other hand, she picked up the beeping clippers and forced them on.

The hair rolled down the head, off the cloth and onto the ground.

It took me a long time to finally finish cutting my hair.

"Look, it's so energetic. It has to stay like a hairy thief."

The old woman saw her grandson with a bald head and spoke to him in the mirror with satisfaction.

The little guy touched his monk-like head and cast hateful glances at Qianqian and the old woman.

"Xiong Qianqian, there's a letter for you."

The call of a postman at the door broke the somewhat awkward atmosphere.

Qianqian was still a little puzzled! She had no relatives or friends, so who would write to her? Confused, she put down her clippers and walked to the store door.

Since the town is closer to the county seat, Qianqian received Shumei's letter before Wu Ju and the others.

Qianqian took the letter from the postman and said thank you politely.

She looked at the familiar handwriting on the envelope. The crooked characters were clearly Shumei's. She excitedly opened the envelope and read the letter from Shumei over and over again.

She was so excited that her hands were shaking with excitement.

She couldn't believe her eyes. Is Sister Shumei really okay? Am I dreaming? The old woman's cry made her realize that she was not dreaming.

The old woman called out to the dazed girl, handed her the money for a haircut, and left with her little grandson.

Qianqian had tears in her eyes. This was simply great news. She sat on the sofa in the store for a long time, then muttered to herself.

Sister Shumei is fine now. Boyi will be very happy when he knows this. No, I must tell Boyi this news as soon as possible.

As she spoke, she hurriedly closed the shop and rode her bicycle to the village.

In order to tell Boyi the news as quickly as possible, Qianqian pedaled furiously. Under the scorching sun, she soon became sweaty and exhausted. The sweat flowed into her eyes, stinging them so much that she couldn't open them. She desperately wiped the sweat from her forehead while continuing to pedal.

As soon as she arrived at the village entrance, she ran into Boyi who was strolling with little Youchen. She excitedly threw her bicycle aside, rushed to Boyi, grabbed his hand, and was so excited that she couldn't speak.

Boyi looked at Qianqian, who was sweating profusely, and saw her panting as she wanted to say something but couldn't. Boyi saw it all and felt anxious.

"Qianqian, what's wrong? Take a breath, don't worry."

"Sister Shumei wrote to say she's fine now. She's already had surgery."

"Really? What you said is true? Where do you believe it?"

Boyi excitedly grabbed Qianqian's arm and kept asking where the letter was.

Qianqian hurriedly took out the letter from her pocket and handed it to Boyi.

Boyi's eyes moistened as he read the letter. After finishing it, his lips trembled, but he couldn't speak. Perhaps he couldn't find a place to vent his excitement! He hugged Qianqian in his arms and held her tightly.

Qianqian couldn't help but burst into tears, which flowed out in torrents.

After a long time, Boyi let Qianqian go and turned his face away, not wanting Qianqian to see the tears in his eyes.

"As long as you're safe, as long as you're safe, I'll go back and pack up and go find her right away."

Shumei had become a habit in Boyi's life. During the time without Shumei, his heart felt hollow. Now that he suddenly had news of Shumei, his heart had already flown to her.

Boyi said this and pulled Xiao Youchen home.

Qianqian hurriedly picked up the bicycle that she had just thrown aside and followed after him.

"No, Brother Boyi, didn't Sister Shumei tell us not to go look for her? Aren't you making things difficult for her?"

"I finally got some news from her. If I don't go looking for her, what if she disappears again? I'll have no place to regret it then."

Boyi was getting impatient. He thought little Youchen was walking too slowly, so he simply carried little Youchen in his arms and ran home.

Strangely enough, upon hearing the news about Shumei, Boyi, who had been sick before, suddenly became as healthy as ever.

Qianqian also trotted after him and continued to persuade Boyi.

"Brother Boyi, put yourself in Sister Shumei's shoes. You've said how much physical and mental damage she's endured. Right now, what she needs most is some quiet time. Once she figures things out, she'll naturally come back to you. If you go there all of a sudden, you might scare her off. Besides, the county is so big, and there's no specific address on the envelope. Isn't that like looking for a needle in a haystack?"

Qianqian was relatively rational this time. Although she also wanted to see Shumei, as a woman, she could better understand Shumei's feelings. At this time, Shumei really did not have the courage to face Boyi.

She has lost the natural capital that a woman should have. If she really loves Boyi, how could she be willing to let an imperfect self appear in front of her beloved?

Qianqian hadn't recovered yet, and she was jogging to catch up with Boyi. She was so tired that she was out of breath even when she spoke.
