"Shumei, you go back first. I'll leave Youchen and Shuangning to you. I want to be alone and take care of Qianqian's affairs at the barber shop. I'll go back after I'm done. Don't worry."
Boyi found a very reasonable excuse, one that Shumei couldn't bear to refute.
What he said was very rational and his expression was calm.
"But—today—it's us—"
Shumei wanted to remind him that today was their wedding day, but when the words came to her lips, she couldn't say them, and she looked like she wanted to say something but couldn't.
Qianqian had just died. How could she be so heartless as to let Boyi and herself go home to attend the wedding banquet at this time?
Boyi thought his excuse was convincing enough, but Shumei didn't seem to think so.

She didn't believe it. She thought Boyi was just stimulated and talking nonsense.

Boyi looked at Shumei expressionlessly, then regained his composure. "Shumei, I'm not kidding. According to the timeline, that person was me. You may not know that Qianqian pursued me madly before, and I tried my best to reject her. However, I never expected that she would take advantage of my drunkenness. I really didn't mean to be irresponsible. I don't remember anything that happened that night. I thought it was just a somewhat realistic dream."
Boyi's expression was somewhat painful. Shumei didn't understand until now why Boyi was so much more painful than herself. It turned out that it was not because she witnessed Qianqian's death with her own eyes, nor because Qianqian blocked the knife for him, but there was another reason.
Shumei was extremely upset and had no reason to persuade Boyi to go back.

Boyi said nothing, looked at Qianqian's belongings in his hand, and pushed his bicycle towards Boyi's barber shop.
Shumei pushed her bicycle and followed Boyi unwillingly. Only after she saw Boyi open the door of the barber shop did she feel at ease and rode her bicycle towards the village.
Boyi's sister and brother-in-law, Wen Dazui's family, were all waiting at the door, hoping that Boyi and Shumei would come back.
The whole yard was in an uproar. It was almost noon, and the wedding banquet was being held, but the bride and groom were still nowhere to be seen.
This Shumei must have offended the matchmaker in her past life. For other people, weddings only happen once in a lifetime, and everything goes smoothly. But hers is such a complete turnaround. Her first wedding was a complete mess, and this second one was even worse; not even the groom showed up.
Shumei stepped on the pedals with great effort, feeling very suffocated in her heart.

There were cheers and shouts everywhere. Children were milling around Shumei, clamoring to get red envelopes from her.
Shumei was still wearing the new dress she'd tried on yesterday. It was a little dirty, but that didn't stop the children from identifying her. As soon as Shumei entered the room, they recognized her as the bride. Perhaps it wasn't her dress that identified her, but her face that told them she was the bride.
Shumei's mind is in a mess now, and she has no mood to pay attention to these troublesome children.
She parked her bicycle at the door and drove away the children surrounding her, "Get out of the way, get out of the way." She hurried into the house.
She didn't want to stay in the yard any longer, she was afraid to see this joyous scene.
