Cheng Jingmo and Yu Xiangnian didn't pay attention to the women's discussions. They were both looking at the scenery on both sides of the road.
Cheng Jingmo remembered the last time Yu Xiangnian drove.
It was the first time he saw a woman driving. She was not flustered but methodical, with excitement in her eyes. The moment she winked at him, he had an indescribable feeling.
Cheng Jingmo tilted his head slightly and secretly looked at the person next to him.
Yu Xiangnian held onto the car's sidewall with both hands, staring ahead. Her eyelashes were thick and long, like crow feathers, her nose was straight and upturned, and her lips were plump and bright. Then there was her neck, so slender, and her skin was so white, like snow.
Cheng Jingmo's gaze moved downwards and finally landed on Yu Xiangnian's upright chest. He quickly turned his head back, his ears unconsciously reddening.
When they arrived at the entrance of the central park, the car stopped. Cheng Jingmo was the first to jump out and then he carried the children out one by one.
If there weren't so many people watching, Yu Xiangnian would have waited to be picked up. He jumped out of the carriage which was so high that his feet were sore from stomping!
The three of them hadn't had breakfast yet, so Yu Xiangnian took Cheng Jingmo and Xiaojie straight to the state-owned canteen.
The original owner was beautiful and ate here every day. Everyone knew her, from the waiters to the chefs.
There is a blackboard on the wall with today's menu written on it.
Yu Xiangnian stood in front of the menu, about to ask Cheng Jingmo and the others what they wanted to eat, when the chef came back from outside. "Little girl, you're here! I haven't seen you for several days, I thought something happened to you!"
The chef's unintentional words blatantly exposed the fact that she spent the whole day eating and drinking outside, leaving Cheng Jingmo and Xiaojie at home eating steamed buns and porridge.
Yu Xiangnian scratched his head embarrassedly, "Here we go again."
"Today's chicken and fish are freshly killed, very fresh." After the chef finished his introduction, he went into the kitchen again.
"What do you want to eat?" Yu Xiangnian asked.
Cheng Jingmo is not picky about food. Apart from the inevitable social interactions among his comrades, he rarely goes to restaurants. "It depends on what you want to eat."
Xiao Jie had never been to a restaurant before, so he asked greedily, "Auntie, do you have any meat buns?"
"Yes, I'll buy some for tomorrow's breakfast. We'll have something better today." Yu Xiangnian said to Cheng Jingmo, "Then I'll order the dishes!"
She ordered a steam pot chicken, a plate of beef, braised beef offal, stir-fried cauliflower, mapo tofu and a large bowl of rice.
Yu Xiangnian was worried that Cheng Jingmo would be reluctant to eat it and save it for Xiaojie and her, so she said, "Cheng Jingmo, you ordered too much food today. If you can't finish it, it will be wasted and they won't refund your money."
As soon as the food was served, Yu Xiangnian served them each a bowl of chicken soup and chicken. "You've been hungry all morning, I want to drink some chicken soup to warm my stomach."
It was the first time that Cheng Jingmo ate something from Yu Xiangniansheng. He was flattered and quickly took the bowl and drank a bowl of chicken soup before eating.
Looking at the two men, one big and one small, in front of him, eating with relish, Yu Xiangnian's mouth curled up.
After finishing all four dishes, Yu Xiangnian ordered four more meat buns to take away. Cheng Jingmo went to pay the bill, which totaled seven yuan and ten cents.
The three of them left the cafeteria after eating their fill. Yu Xiangnian said he would go get Xiaojie's clothes first.
The three of them walked to the door of Aunt Sun's house. Cheng Jingmo watched Yu Xiangnian exchanging secret signals with others the whole time, and the corners of his mouth twitched.
Such a funny code, must have been made up by Yu Xiangnian!
When she entered Aunt Sun's house, she saw a soldier coming and thought he was coming to arrest her, so she subconsciously wanted to run away.
Yu Xiangnian quickly called out to her, "Auntie Sun, this is my husband." He then took Xiaojie's hand and said, "The clothes I asked you to make last time were for this child."
Aunt Sun took the step she had just taken, looked at Cheng Jingmo and then at Xiaojie, and smiled awkwardly, "You two are quite a match! But you look young, and your child is already this big!"
Yu Xiangnian opened his mouth and said, "He is thirty, and I am twenty-six. We look a little younger."
Cheng Jingmo's eyebrows twitched because of this sentence.
Aunt Sun took out the clothes and compared them to Xiaojie. "How is it? Does it fit?"
Yu Xiangnian nodded in satisfaction and pushed Cheng Jingmo out of the way. "Auntie Sun, please measure his size. He also needs to make two sets of clothes."
Cheng Jingmo stepped back, "I don't want it."
We didn't tell him in advance that we would make clothes for him, but this happened suddenly. He wears military uniform every day, so why would he need any other clothes?
Yu Xiangnian pushed him forward again, his face stern, "I said yes, I want it! You don't even have casual clothes, you have to do it!"
Cheng Jingmo: “…” If he had known he had to do this, he would not have entered the door.
Aunt Sun laughed and said, "You, a young wife, are so mean to your own man."
As she spoke, she picked up a tape measure and walked in front of Cheng Jingmo. Cheng Jingmo was pushed on the back by Yu Xiangnian's hand, and he didn't dare to step back. He could only let Aunt Sun measure him.
Aunt Sun stood on tiptoe to measure Cheng Jingmo's shoulders, and she didn't forget to joke, "You've found such a beautiful wife, so you have to bear with her harshness, right?"
After taking the measurements, Aunt Sun said, "Your husband is tall, so he needs to be six feet tall to make a set of clothes."
Yu Xiangnian said, "Okay, we'll buy some cloth and send it to you later."
The three of them left Aunt Sun's house and prepared to go to the department store to buy things.
On the road, I saw a few children surrounding a man selling sugar paintings, waiting to buy them to eat.
Although business was not allowed in those days, you could often see small vendors carrying boxes and selling various things in the city.
The urban management at that time had strict control over these mobile vendors, so the boxes of these vendors were designed with special skill.
With a clench and a pull, he put it on his shoulder and ran away.
Yu Xiangnian's attention was immediately attracted by the sugar painting.
You know, this kind of craft is almost lost in today's society, it is an intangible cultural heritage.
