Lin Ye ate by herself and ignored Meng Yiming. She never thought that Meng Yiming would eat these things.
But she couldn't eat so much by herself, so it would be a shame to waste it.
"What's that smell?" Meng Yiming broke off a small piece of dough and prepared to dip it. When he was still a few centimeters away from the two pots of paste, his hand stopped again.
Lin also glanced at him and said, "Try it yourself. It may taste a little unpalatable at most, but it won't kill you!"
She really couldn't stand Meng Yiming being so spoiled!
Meng Yiming said, "Tell me about the taste first so I can be mentally prepared."
"I can't describe the taste. It's not delicious, but it's edible."
Meng Yiming prepared himself mentally for a while. He paused and stretched his hand forward again. He measured the amount precisely and only got a tiny bit of the paste on him.
He bit a little bit of dough with his front teeth in a pretentious manner, and then his expression changed. "Hmm? It tastes nothing?"
Lin Ye simply couldn't stand Meng Yiming's cowardly look, "What can you taste if you got even a tiny bit of eye boogers?"
Meng Yiming pursed his lips and reached out to touch it again.
He was going to get a little more this time, but Lin Ye grabbed his wrist and pressed it hard.
This time, not only was the dough in his hands covered with vegetables, but his fingers were also covered with a lot of them.
Meng Yiming was stunned at first, then he wanted to go crazy.
This confusing thing was yellowish-brown in color, and his mind was full of uncontrollable thoughts.
"Now you can taste it." Lin Ye said, "You're going back soon and haven't eaten their food yet. Be brave!"
Meng Yiming took two deep breaths, closed his eyes, and mustered the courage to sacrifice his life for justice to throw the dough in his hand into his mouth. He held his breath, chewed a few bites quickly, and swallowed it.
"What's that smell?" Lin Ye looked at him expectantly.
Although he ate quickly, there was still a lingering taste in his mouth.
He took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his fingers carefully. "I can't explain it, but it feels weird anyway."
Lin also encouraged him, "It just tastes a little weird, but it's still edible. Try it again."
Meng Yiming wiped his fingers clean, broke off another small piece of dough, and under Lin Ye's gaze, he dipped some more and put it into his mouth.
Lin also asked: "Is it delicious?"
“It’s not tasty.”
"Then eat some more. It would be a shame to waste it."
Meng Yiming cooperated and took another bite. "Lin Ye, I'll treat you to roast chicken when we get back to Beijing."
Lin Ye was eating and nodding continuously.
Meng Yiming asked: "What else do you want to eat?"
Lin Ye hurriedly swallowed the food in his mouth, "I want to eat a lot!"
"Don't choke." Meng Yiming took out his water cup from his bag and placed it in front of Lin Ye, "Drink some water."
Lin was already used to Meng Yiming offering her water to drink. She took a few sips and said, "When we get home, I'll treat you to roast duck, braised shrimp, steamed buns, and bean juice..."
Lin Ye listed a lot of things in one breath, it seemed that he was very greedy.
Meng Yiming smiled as he listened to Lin Ye finish speaking, "Okay, then we'll go eat together."
After finishing the meal, most of the food was still left.
Meng Yiming ate no more than five bites, only one-third of a dough ball, while Lin also ate two dough balls and half of the dish.
The two of them strolled around the city until the afternoon and hurried back to their base for dinner.
After breakfast the next day, Meng Yiming asked Lin to go out again. He drove to the gate of a temple.
Lin was also surprised, "What are we doing here?"
She was taught not to believe in ghosts and gods since she was a child. Song Huaiqian and Lin Yunyi had never been to a temple to worship, so naturally she had never been there either.
"Why are you so shocked?" Meng Yiming raised an eyebrow. "We are here to experience their culture, not to make you become a nun."
The two took off their shoes and prepared to enter the hall.
Meng Yiming said, "Don't talk nonsense when you go in. Come out and talk about it."
Lin also nodded obediently.
The two entered the main hall. The temple was well built and much better than the houses where the residents lived outside. The most important thing was that it was clean, which formed a sharp contrast with the outside.
The main hall was not very big, and it enshrined many gods that they were not aware of.
The two of them read it carefully and quietly, even though they couldn't understand the words.
Finally, Meng Yiming knelt on the ground, kowtowed to the gods, and closed his eyes, as if making a wish.
Lin Ye was so shocked that her eyes almost popped out of her head. She closed her mouth tightly and held back the words in her heart.
The two of them walked out of the hall and were still putting on their shoes when Lin couldn't help but speak.
"Can the Bodhisattva here take care of your affairs?"
Meng Yiming had already put on his shoes and walked out. "Can you help me ask them if they'll take care of it?"
Lin followed him, "...No, these are foreign Bodhisattvas! Can they bless you? Also, can they understand your wishes? Are you kneeling down to worship them in our way? Is that in accordance with their rules?"
Meng Yiming stopped and looked at Lin Ye with bright eyes.
"These are not problems," Meng Yiming said seriously. "I've even prayed to foreign Bodhisattvas. I've put in a lot of effort. Even if I don't get what I want in the end, I won't blame myself."
Lin also wanted to ask what his wish was, but seeing Meng Yiming's bad face, it seemed as if he was about to get angry in the next second.
It was the first time that Lin saw Meng Yiming with such an expression, and she didn't dare to ask any more questions.
The two went to take a look at the nearby village, and still hurried back to have dinner in the afternoon.
After waiting for two weeks, the experts from the mining team arrived and Lin started to get busy again.
During the past two weeks, Lin Ye and Meng Yiming have been playing outside. Apart from the inconvenience of eating out, there is nothing to complain about, and both of them are very happy.
