In an instant, both the boy and the girl's expressions changed drastically; they hadn't expected Yan Ning to be so bold.
Yan Ning smiled and said, "Wow, the things in your backpacks are really interesting. Do you want me to show them to the teacher?"
"Su Yanning, what's wrong with you! Have you taken the wrong medicine?"
Su Muyao screamed loudly, her face flushed red, and her eyes were full of anger.
Su Yao shouted angrily, "If you're sick, get treatment and stop causing trouble for us!"
Yan Ning threw the last student's backpack on the ground, raised an eyebrow, and said loudly:
"Let me tell you, I, Su Yanning, am not someone to be trifled with. If I see my things being damaged again and no one admits it, I will destroy all your things!"
Her gaze swept over everyone, her tone carrying a hint of warning.
"By the way, I remember the school doesn't allow these prohibited items you brought. Should I tell the teacher for you?"
A girl screamed, "You! That's too much!"
Yan Ning clapped her hands and raised an eyebrow slightly. "Yes, you're right, I really am that outrageous."
After saying that, she returned to her seat, ignoring the wails of her classmates.
Seeing that Yan Ning was not weak, the classmates dared not bully her anymore, and could only whisper among themselves.
Yan Ning spent her day like this, and soon it was time to go home from school.
She walked out of the school gate and headed straight for the stall.
The stall owner was busy frying chicken; the oil sizzled and the aroma filled the air.
Tongtong sat behind the stall, holding a tablet and watching cartoons intently.
"Good afternoon, beautiful lady. Have you finished school yet?"
The proprietress looked up and saw Yan Ning, a warm smile spreading across her face. She stopped what she was doing and greeted her.
Yan Ning smiled slightly and replied, "Yes, it tasted delicious yesterday, and I'd like to have it again today."
She took a delicate Barbie doll out of her bag and handed it to Tongtong.
"This is for you."
When Tongtong saw the toy, her eyes lit up immediately. She excitedly took the Barbie doll and exclaimed:
"Wow, what a beautiful doll! Thank you, sister!"
Yan Ning patted Tongtong's head gently and said, "You're welcome, I'm glad you like it."
She paused, then asked, "Sister, what happened when Tongtong was sick before?"
The proprietress sighed, a hint of worry on her face: "A few days ago, Tongtong suddenly developed a high fever that wouldn't go down, and she was unconscious for three days."
“I was very anxious, and going to the hospital didn’t help. The doctor said it might be a viral infection, but the injections and medications didn’t work.”
“I was so anxious that I didn’t know what to do. My neighbor said there was a Taoist priest who was very powerful and could cure diseases, so I asked him to come and treat me.”
"He set up a ceremony, and unexpectedly, Tongtong miraculously woke up afterwards. It was so close!"
Yan Ning nodded, and said thoughtfully, "Indeed, Tongtong suffered. What kind of ritual did that Taoist priest perform?"
The proprietress shook her head, looking confused, and said, "I didn't understand either. He just kept shaking that bell while muttering something, and Tongtong woke up not long after."
Upon hearing their conversation, Tongtong suddenly felt a little awkward. She didn't turn around, but she tilted her ear slightly.
After the proprietress finished speaking, she continued working, quickly frying the chicken, and handed it to Yan Ning, smiling as she said:
"Come again next time, I'll give you an extra piece of fried chicken."
Yan Ning smiled, accepted the money, paid, and turned to leave the stall.
She walked to a corner and looked back at Tongtong.
Tongtong sat behind the stall, holding a Barbie doll in her hand, but her expression was a little strange.
She impatiently tore at the Barbie doll's dress, and when the shopkeeper wasn't looking, she threw the Barbie doll into the trash can.
Yan Ning frowned slightly, and Xiao Shi, who was beside her, said in surprise:
"Why is Tongtong acting like this? Does she not like Barbie dolls?"
Yan Ning paused, then said in a low voice, "No, she is not Tongtong at all."
Xiao Shi's eyes widened in shock: "If it's not Tongtong, then who is she?!"
Yan Ning pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "If I'm not mistaken, Tongtong had a high fever and was unconscious for three days because she lost her soul, but the Taoist priest who came to summon the soul summoned a soul that wasn't Tongtong's."
"So now Tongtong's body is inhabited by a wandering soul, not Tongtong at all."
Xiao Shi gasped, his voice trembling slightly:
"That unscrupulous Taoist priest is so harmful! Where is the real Tongtong?"
Yan Ning pondered for a moment, then took out a pale yellow tracking talisman from his bag.
She closed her eyes and attached the wisp of her aura that she had just caught when she got close to Tongtong to it.
The talisman flickered slightly, revealing two locations: a small stall and a nearby park.
“Let’s go to the park!” Yan Ning said decisively.
She followed the tracking talisman all the way to the park, where it was already getting dark.
The park was somewhat dilapidated; the benches were covered in dust, and the grass was overgrown with weeds.
The streetlights were dim, barely illuminating a small area around them.
Yan Ning walked into the park, her eyes searching around in the darkness.
She searched slowly for a while and finally spotted a small figure at the slide.
It was a crying little girl sitting on the slide steps, head down, shoulders trembling slightly.
Yan Ning walked quickly over, squatted down in front of the little girl, and asked softly:
"Little friend, what's wrong?"
The little girl looked up at Yan Ning with teary eyes.
Her face was covered in tears, and her eyes held a hint of confusion and fear.
She sobbed softly, "I...I can't find my mother...Nobody can see me or hear me."
Yan Ning gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid, sister will help you find your mother. What's your name?"
The little girl answered softly, "My name is Tongtong."
Yan Ning smiled and said, "Tongtong, do you remember what your mother looks like?"
The little girl nodded, took a photo out of her pocket, and handed it to Yan Ning:
"This is my mother."
Yan Ning looked at the photo and realized that the person in the photo was the owner of that stall.
She became even more certain of her guess that this little girl was the real Tongtong.
Tongtong, who was at the stall, was just a wandering soul that had been mistakenly summoned into the body of a Taoist priest.
At that moment, Yan Ning suddenly felt a slight movement behind him.
She turned around and saw Tongtong standing in the shadow of a tree not far away from the stall.
Her body trembled slightly, and her eyes showed a hint of panic.
The next second, as if startled by something, she took a step and ran outside.
Seeing this, Yan Ning shouted, "Stop!"
She quickly pulled out a talisman from her bosom, chanted a spell, and the talisman instantly emitted a beam of light, heading straight for the fake Tongtong.
