The typhoon is still howling outside.
In the basement.
The dim light shone on Yan Ning's pale face.
She bit her lip, feeling as if a heavy stone was pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
It's all because of her.
If it weren't for pushing her away, how could Xie Huaiye have fallen into a coma and remained motionless?
That big log should have hit her!
It was him who forcefully blocked her away.
He was hit on the back of the head.
Yan Ning mustered her courage and wanted to go forward and see him.
Even just wiping the dust off his face would be fine.
"Get out of my way!"
A sharp, piercing curse rang out.
Su Muyao charged forward like a mother animal protecting her cubs.
He shoved Yan Ning hard, causing her to stumble.
"Don't touch Huaiye-gege with your filthy hands! It's all your fault! You jinx!"
Yan Ning staggered to her feet, her throat tight and sore.
She couldn't utter a single word.
Su Muyao was right to scold her; it was all her fault.
She lowered her head, not daring to look at anyone.
"Su Muyao! Are you even being reasonable?!"
Sun Wuji couldn't stand it anymore.
He strode up to Yan Ning, towering like a small mountain. "Xie Huaiye saved people because it was his own choice! He's a real man; he couldn't bear to see such a frail person like Yan Ning get crushed to death!"
"What right do you have to throw a tantrum here? Do you have any right to tell people what to do?"
"What do you know!"
Su Muyao's eyes reddened with anger as she pointed at Yan Ning, "If it weren't for her..."
"Enough!"
Yan Shisi, who had been silent all along, suddenly stood up. His voice was not loud, but it carried a hint of authority:
"What's all the noise about! Xie Huaiye is still unconscious! Do you want to tear down the basement and let the typhoon in? Quiet down!"
Su Muyao glared fiercely at Yan Ning.
She snorted in frustration and angrily sat back down next to Xie Huaiye.
She took out her handkerchief and carefully wiped the mud off Xie Huaiye's forehead and cheeks.
Yan Ning silently retreated to a corner.
I slid down the cold wall and sat on the floor.
She curled up into a ball, burying her head in her knees.
Her fingers picked at the dust on the ground.
It felt like my heart was being pricked by countless needles.
A dense, persistent pain.
Every breath she took tugged at her heartstrings, causing her so much pain that she almost curled up in agony.
She didn't even dare to look at Xie Huaiye's bloodless face anymore.
One look and my heart breaks.
Above the basement.
The typhoon is still roaring wildly, as if it wants to tear the whole world apart.
Time crawled by little by little.
Every second felt so long.
Finally, a faint groan came from the basement.
"Brother Huaiye!"
Su Muyao was the first to notice, and she was so surprised she almost jumped up. "You're awake! That's great! You scared me to death!"
She grabbed Xie Huaiye's raised hand and held it tightly.
Tears streamed down her face.
"He's awake! He's alright!"
"Great! Thank God!"
Everyone immediately gathered around, looking at him with a mixture of nervousness and hope.
Yan Ning's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up.
She saw Xie Huaiye open his eyes, but his gaze was somewhat blank.
She instinctively tried to get up.
But after thinking about it, she shrank back and only dared to watch from afar.
Hiding oneself in the shadows at the very edge of the crowd.
Xie Huaiye's gaze slowly swept across the faces of the people surrounding him.
He seemed somewhat confused.
Then, he slowly pulled his hands out of Su Muyao's tightly clenched hands.
"Brother Huaiye?" Su Muyao was stunned.
Then, Xie Huaiye raised the hand he had just pulled out.
With some effort, he pointed to that inconspicuous corner outside the crowd.
All eyes followed his finger.
The focus was on Yan Ning, who was in the corner.
Yan Ning was completely stunned, as if she had been nailed to the spot.
Xie Huaiye's lips moved slightly.
His chapped lips rubbed together, making a hoarse, almost inaudible sound:
“Yan Ning…”
Yan Ning felt as if something was gripping her heart.
"I am here!"
She instinctively called out and staggered through the crowd.
She rushed to Xie Huaiye's side and brought her ear close to his lips.
The next second.
She heard the next sentence, which instantly petrified her and everyone else:
"Sister." The voice was deep and pleasant.
"Huh? What?"
Yan Ning suddenly raised her head, her eyes wide open.
She wondered if the typhoon had damaged her ears.
His voice wasn't loud, but everyone present heard it.
The entire basement was deathly silent.
Even the sound of the wind outside seemed to subside for a moment.
elder sister?!
The first thing Xie Huaiye said when he woke up was to call Yan Ning... "Sister?"
The half-full bottle of water in Sun Wuji's hand fell to the ground with a "clatter".
Yan Shisi pushed up his slipped glasses, his eyes behind the lenses filled with shock.
Su Muyao was struck dumb.
She looked at Xie Huaiye in disbelief, then at Yan Ning.
Xie Huaiye didn't seem to notice anything amiss.
He struggled to sit up, his movements clumsy like a child's.
Yan Ning was still in a state of great shock.
She instinctively reached out to support him.
As soon as he was steadied, Xie Huaiye felt as if he had found the safest harbor.
She leaned softly into Yan Ning's arms.
Rest your head on her shoulder.
His arm, still carrying a hint of affection, gently wrapped around Yan Ning's arm.
Then.
He used a method that no one had ever heard of before.
With a tone of deep dependence, the little boy nuzzled Yan Ning's shoulder and mumbled softly:
