I don't know how much time passed.
Ye Qingling's long eyelashes trembled.
She slowly opened her eyes.
The bronze mirror is still in front of me.
The face in the mirror was still the same, with no change in features.
But the look in the person's eyes in the mirror was completely different!
The gentle, timid softness of before.
They vanished without a trace.
Instead, a languid yet highly aggressive light has taken its place.
With a glance.
It carries an alluring charm and a hint of cold evil.
Ye Qingling's lips curled into a wicked smile.
She reached out her hand.
Her fingertips brushed against the slightly warm hairpin in her hair bun.
She parted her red lips slightly and smiled alluringly at the unfamiliar reflection in the mirror.
After all these years, I'm finally out! I've been so pent up!
This time, she must turn the town upside down!
In the study.
Master Ye was buried in a pile of portraits and name cards.
His brows furrowed into a knot.
He pointed to several names with his finger, muttering to himself:
"This one comes from a decent family, but I've heard he's timid... This one is clever, but unfortunately his foundation is too shallow..."
"Dad, are you busy?"
A gentle, spring-like voice rang out.
Ye Qingling walked in.
Her face wore a perfectly appropriate, innocent smile.
Master Ye looked up and saw that it was his beloved daughter.
His furrowed brows immediately relaxed, replaced by a kind smile:
"Qingling, don't rush, don't rush. Your father is picking out a perfect husband for you! Come and take a look, these are all excellent young men."
He proudly presented several portraits to his daughter.
Ye Qingling leaned closer to the desk and pretended to be curious as she flipped through the portraits:
"Dad, this isn't urgent, but I've come up with a fun idea."
"Oh? What idea?" Master Ye became interested.
"Look."
Ye Qingling blinked her big eyes, her face full of innocence:
"Our family hasn't had a lively gathering in a long time. How about you host a flower viewing party? Or a tea party?"
"Why not invite some talented young people so everyone can get to know each other? It's much better than you looking at pictures here for matchmaking, isn't it?"
Master Ye stroked his chin thoughtfully:
"Hmm... that's a good idea, casting a wide net is more efficient."
"Who do you want to invite? Dad will arrange it for you!"
"That's great!" Ye Qingling clapped her hands, looking very excited. "I want to get to know that... um... Xie Huaiye, Mr. Xie."
She paused deliberately.
Observing his father's expression.
Sure enough, Master Ye recognized the name "Xie Huaiye".
His face fell.
He snorted through his nose: "Xie Huaiye? That ungrateful bastard? He was so pretentious during the day. Inviting him? Are you giving him face?"
Ye Qingling knew that Master Ye hated it most when others embarrassed him.
But she was prepared and immediately put on a righteous expression.
Her tone softened, with a hint of coquetry:
“Oh, Father, you are so magnanimous! Why get angry with such a nobody? I know he doesn’t know what’s good for him, but…”
She changed the subject, "I heard he has a lot of friends, and they're all quite interesting."
"Think about it, when you're hosting a banquet, you can't just invite Xie Huaiye, can you? That would be so boring."
"Why don't you invite him over, and also ask him to bring his friends along?"
"That way the scene will be more lively, and you'll have more opportunities to help me observe, won't you?"
Master Ye was taken aback by what his daughter said.
It seems to make some sense.
He looked at his daughter suspiciously: "You... just want to get to know him and his friends? Nothing else?"
Of course!
Ye Qingling immediately raised three fingers.
With an expression of utter sincerity, I swear: "It's purely out of curiosity! It's never a bad thing to meet more people, right, Dad?"
"Don't worry, I promise to stay far away from that ungrateful Xie Huaiye. I'm just interested in his interesting friends."
Master Ye stared at his daughter for a few seconds.
That little face was filled with nothing but obedience and anticipation.
I really can't see any flaws.
He waved his hand dismissively: "Alright, alright! Since my precious daughter has spoken, then we'll do it!"
"I've arranged everything perfectly for you, I guarantee it'll be a spectacle! Let that Xie fellow see the grandeur of the Ye family!"
"Thank you, Dad! You're the best!"
Ye Qingling smiled sweetly, her voice as sweet as honey.
She turned around and walked briskly toward the door.
In the instant his back was turned to his father.
The smile on her face vanished instantly.
The corners of his mouth turned up.
He revealed a cold smile that was both calculating and sinister.
His eyes gleamed with the excitement of a hunter seeing his prey walk into a trap.
On the other side.
The afternoon sun lazily spilled into the courtyard, making it warm and cozy.
Yan Ning lay on the rattan chair.
She squinted, trying to shed the fatigue of the past few days of travel.
At this moment.
A yellow shadow suddenly darted past her feet.
A fluffy tail nearly brushed against her calf.
"Oh my!" Yan Ning was so surprised that she almost jumped up from her chair, her heart pounding.
Upon closer inspection, she saw it was a chubby yellow cat.
It was swishing its tail proudly, squatting by the flower bed not far away.
A pair of green eyes stared at her defiantly.
At this moment, Biyun was quietly picking vegetables on a small stool nearby.
She didn't even raise her head, but a soft call escaped her throat:
"Mimi, come back."
The sound was light and crisp, like a pebble dropped into calm water.
The yellow cat, which had been looking aloof just moments before, suddenly twitched its ears.
