The servants peeked out from every corner.
"What's wrong?" An old butler hurriedly stepped forward.
Su Muyao slapped her thigh.
With a sob in her voice, she spoke so loudly that she wanted everyone to hear:
“My necklace! Rubies and sapphires with gold trim! A family heirloom! Last night…”
"Last night I was half asleep when I felt a small, thin figure slip into my room. It was dark, so I could only see a shadow!"
"I was so sleepy at the time that I thought it was a dream, but when I woke up this morning, the box where I kept the necklace was empty!"
As she spoke, she wiped away her tears with her swollen, red hands.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the person who had just come out of the room.
Biyun was still sleepy.
"A thin, small figure?" someone muttered quietly.
My gaze involuntarily drifted towards Biyun.
She was indeed the smallest and thinnest member of the entire Ye family.
"Yes! It's the skinny one!"
Su Muyao's voice was high-pitched and sharp.
He pointed his finger straight at Biyun, "Biyun, it was you yesterday who forced me to work with a whip, deliberately making things difficult for me!"
"Did you hold a grudge and sneak into my room last night to steal my necklace? You little mute, are you too guilty to speak?"
All eyes immediately turned to Biyun.
Biyun's face instantly drained of color.
She opened her mouth, making rapid "hoarse" sounds in her throat.
He gestured frantically with his hands, his face filled with terror and injustice.
She tried to protest: I didn't! I was in the room all night!
But she couldn't speak, and her anxious and flustered gestures looked to onlookers as...
It was more like the panic that followed being exposed.
"Hmph! Can't speak now, huh? That's the good thing about being mute—you don't have to admit to doing bad things!"
Su Muyao grew increasingly smug, her aggressive demeanor directed at the crowd:
"My necklace is so valuable, it must still be on her or hidden in her room! Search! Find it, and let's see what this little thief has to say!"
Biyun was so anxious that tears streamed down her face.
She shook her head frantically, waving her hands even faster.
The suppressed sobs in his throat were heartbreaking to hear.
People around were talking about it, some sympathizing with Biyun.
Some people felt that Su Muyao's words were reasonable and well-founded.
After all, Biyun was indeed very rude to this young lady yesterday.
"Why are people so anxious and uneasy about material possessions so early in the morning?"
A cool and calm voice rang out.
Everyone turned around and saw that Yan Ning was already standing under the corridor.
The morning light outlined her elegant dress.
She was fiddling with a few old-fashioned copper coins in her hand.
His gaze swept calmly across the entire room.
Finally, the image landed on Su Muyao's excited face.
Su Muyao's heart skipped a beat, but she forced herself to remain calm and said loudly:
"You've come at the right time! The maid you brought stole something from me, and you must give me an explanation!"
