Chapter 18 She's here to wipe us out! Bite her to death!

Night fell, and dark clouds, as black as ink, completely obscured the only moonlight.

The streets were deserted, with only the cold wind howling and whistling through them.

"Are we really going to get on this bus?" Xiao Shi asked nervously.

Yan Ning looked up at the ghost school bus, its doors swaying slightly in the wind, as if beckoning them.

She hesitated for a moment, then said in a low voice, "That's right, we have to get in the car and rescue that child."

After saying that, she strode towards the ghost school bus, and the door creaked open again.

The driver sat in the driver's seat, staring blankly at Yan Ning, repeating what he had said that afternoon:

"Little girl, do you need a ride? Where are you going? I'll take you there."

“Yes, I need a ride,” Yan Ning nodded in reply.

A faint smile appeared on the driver's ashen face, but his eyes remained vacant, and the smile was more painful than a grimace. He mechanically said:

"That's great, let's get in the car."

Yan Ning hesitated for a moment, then strode onto the school bus.

"Sister, wait for me! I haven't gotten on yet!" Xiao Shi called out anxiously from behind.

Just as the car door was about to close, Xiao Shi dashed inside like lightning.

The car door slammed shut behind them with a heavy thud.

As soon as Yan Ning entered the school bus, she felt a chilling aura wash over her.

The car was dimly lit, with only a few dim yellow lights flickering overhead, casting thick shadows.

There were a dozen or so children in school uniforms sitting in the car. They were young and looked like they were still in elementary school.

A dozen or so children all turned to look at Yan Ning.

Their eyes gleamed with a bluish light in the dim light.

Their faces were dark, their lips were cracked, and they had an eerie calm about them.

Yan Ning and Xiao Shi carefully walked to the last row and sat down.

The children's eyes followed them intently, their faces expressionless, simply staring silently.

"Next stop, Xin'an Hope Primary School."

The voice broadcast sounded mechanically.

The vehicle drove smoothly, its wheels making a soft "rustling" sound on the asphalt road.

Upon arrival at the platform, the driver stopped the vehicle and opened the doors.

A cool night breeze blew in through the train doors, but the platform was deserted.

The driver didn't seem surprised; he simply closed the door mechanically and continued driving.

This continued for ten minutes, with the children still staring intently at Yan Ning.

Being stared at by a dozen pairs of blue eyes in such a dim environment was truly chilling.

It's even scarier than a horror movie.

Little Stone felt a chill run down its spine and couldn't help but ask in a low voice:

"Sister, what should we do next? Are we just going to let them keep watching us like this?"

Yan Ning frowned slightly, a calm light flashing in her eyes, and said calmly:

"If the enemy doesn't move, I won't move."

Xiao Shi nodded and continued, "However, the eyes of these children are really scary."

Yan Ning gently patted Xiao Shi and whispered, "Don't be afraid, let's see how things go first."

"bite!"

Just then, a bell rang inside the school bus.

The sound was sharp and piercing, as if it were a signal from another world, instantly shattering the silence inside the carriage.

Upon hearing the bell, a glimmer of light suddenly appeared in the children's empty eyes, and their bodies stirred slightly.

"What is that sound?" Xiao Shi asked in surprise.

Yan Ning did not answer, but looked warily at every corner of the carriage.

The children slowly stood up, their movements slow, their eyes still fixed on Yan Ning, as if she were their only prey.

A little girl with pigtails walked towards Yan Ning. She had big eyes and long eyelashes, which made her look even more eerie.

She asked loudly, "Big sister, are you here to take us home?"

Her voice carried a hint of longing, yet also a chilling undertone that sent shivers down one's spine.

The other children also came over and slowly surrounded Yan Ning.

They shouted one after another, their voices echoing through the carriage:

"Go home! We want to go home!"

"Take us home! I want to see my mom and dad!"

"I want to go home! I want my mom!"

Just as Yan Ning was about to speak to comfort them, she suddenly heard a sharp voice rang out from the crowd:

"She's an anomaly! She didn't come to take us home! She came to destroy us! Kill her!"

The sound instantly ignited the atmosphere in the carriage.

"Ah! She's a bad person! Everyone, get rid of her!"

"Bite her to death! Bite her to death!"

The children's eyes instantly turned fierce. They lunged at Yan Ning with bared teeth and claws, letting out low growls.

Yan Ning was startled and quickly pulled a peach wood sword from her backpack.

She brandished her peach wood sword and fought off several children who were charging at the front.

But more and more children kept rushing towards them.

She felt her arms growing heavier and her breathing becoming more rapid, inwardly groaning:

There are just too many kids! Am I really going to be in trouble today?

Suddenly, Xiao Shi flew into the air and shouted:

"You little brats, your great-grandfather is here! Come and get me!"

"Grab him! Grab him!"

The children were indeed drawn to him and immediately turned around, rushing towards Xiao Shi.

Xiao Shi was agile, like a nimble swallow, weaving through the crowd, and the children couldn't catch him at all.

Yan Ning took a breath, her brain racing.

She knew that Xiao Shi could only hold off the children temporarily, and she had to find a way to break the deadlock as soon as possible.

So what is the solution to break this deadlock?

Yan Ning carefully observed the children's actions and found that they had no ability to think and only attacked blindly, like puppets controlled by some force.

They must be being controlled by something...

The real manipulator is definitely still in this carriage!

Yan Ning's heart stirred, and she bypassed the still noisy children, walking towards the driver's seat.

The driver sat in the driver's seat, completely ignoring the noise behind him, and mechanically drove along the route.

Therefore, the driver is not the one in control.

Yan Ning looked around, trying to find the real mastermind hiding in the carriage.

Suddenly, she felt a chill down her spine, as if something was staring at her.

She turned around abruptly, her pupils dilating slightly, and she gasped.

A child with bloodshot eyes was peering out of the car window at her.

The child's blood-red eyes gleamed faintly in the darkness, and a cruel smile played on his lips.

"Who are you?"

Yan Ning subconsciously took a step back, gripping the peach wood sword tightly in his hand, ready to fight at any moment.

The ghost child didn't answer, but continued to stare at her with those blood-red eyes, his smile becoming even more eerie.
