Suddenly, he picked up a pair of serving chopsticks and selected a perfectly grilled beef rib from the baking pan.
It was placed in Yan Ning's bowl.
Then, she lowered her head and looked at the bewildered Yan Ning.
A faint hint of gentleness flickered in those usually stern eyes.
"Old Xie has told me everything about your family."
Her voice was still not loud, and her tone didn't have much variation.
But this diluted the sense of pity in that statement, transforming it into a more tangible comfort:
"Come over more often when you have nothing to do; it's just a matter of adding an extra pair of chopsticks."
