Chapter 21 A man kissed me in my dream...

"I'm just taking a break, I didn't say I wasn't going to run!"

Su Muyao turned around and glared at Yan Ning, then lifted her foot and continued running.

After five laps, Su Muyao walked to the edge of the playground, panting heavily. Her steps were unsteady, and she looked like she might fall at any moment.

"Sis, are you alright? That Su Yanning is just too much!"

Su Yao immediately came forward, frowning and speaking with righteous indignation.

Su Muyao's little follower held a water glass to her lips and said with concern:

"Sister Muyao, have some water. You look so tired. You've worked so hard."

Su Muyao took the water glass and drank it in big gulps. Water droplets dripped down the corners of her mouth, but she didn't bother to wipe them away.

Yan Ning stood not far away, arms crossed, and said calmly:

"Your stamina is really bad. Back in the day, I could climb several mountains and I wasn't this weak."

She turned and strode back to the classroom. When her classmates saw her come in, they all fell silent.

The previously noisy classroom fell silent instantly, and the students looked at Yan Ning with awe.

You should know that no one in this class can handle Su Muyao; Yan Ning is the first.

Soon after, Su Muyao also entered the classroom. She returned to her seat and angrily made a clattering noise with her stationery, filling the entire classroom with the sounds of her fiddling with it.

The students looked at Yan Ning, then at Su Muyao, and for a moment no one dared to speak.

With no one to disturb her, Yan Ning was happy to have some peace and quiet, and thus completed her day of classes in peace and quiet.

When Yan Ning returned home, she saw several servants cleaning the living room and preparing food.

She asked a maid standing nearby, "Are we having guests today?"

The maid replied respectfully, "Yes, Miss, Mrs. Shen and her daughter will be visiting soon."

Yan Ning nodded thoughtfully, "Oh, I see."

Just then, a noise came from the doorway.

A woman dressed in elegant clothes walked in. She had a rosy complexion and a kind smile on her face.

Behind her followed a girl, who was petite and had a quiet demeanor.

Jiang Lan, with her sharp eyes, immediately greeted them with a smile:

"Wenxiu, you're here! It's been so long! You have no idea how much I've missed you!"

Ye Wenxiu smiled gently and said softly:

"I miss you too. I've been so busy with work that I haven't had a chance to visit you."

Ye Wenxiu's gaze quickly fell on Yan Ning. A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes. She walked over quickly and exclaimed:

"This must be Yan Ning. She looks so much like Xue Shu when she was young."

"Back then, Xue Shu and I traveled abroad together, went horseback riding and archery. In the blink of an eye, so many years have passed."

Ye Wenxiu snapped out of her reverie and realized she had gone off on a tangent.

She quickly turned around, pulled her shy daughter behind her, and said:

"Yan Ning, this is my daughter, Shen Xiyue. You two should get to know each other. You should be a few months older than Xiyue."

Yan Ning smiled and said softly, "Hello, Sister Xiyue."

Shen Xiyue nodded shyly and replied softly, "Hello, sister."

The group sat down at the dining table, and soon a sumptuous feast was laid out on it.

At this moment, Su Muyao finally arrived late.

She rolled her eyes at Yan Ning with a hint of impatience on her face.

Behind her followed Su Yao, who also looked annoyed.

When Jiang Lan saw them, a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face, and she quickly greeted them:

"Why are you two so late? Aunt Ye and Xiyue have been here for quite a while. Hurry up and come over!"

Su Muyao yawned and casually said, "Hello Aunt Ye, hello little sister Xiyue."

After they sat down, the two seemed distracted, whispering to each other from time to time.

Yan Ning noticed that Shen Xiyue and Su Muyao hardly interacted.

Shen Xiyue lowered her eyes and silently buried her head in her food.

Her eyes were slightly dark, her gaze was listless, and she looked dispirited, as if she had something on her mind.

Halfway through the meal, Jiang Lan and Ye Wenxiu chatted non-stop.

Su Muyao and Su Yao had long lost their patience and got off the table, disappearing without a trace.

Shen Xiyue sat for a while, then got up and walked to the balcony alone.

Seeing this, Yan Ning followed without making a sound.

Shen Xiyue leaned against the balcony railing alone.

She was slender, and appeared even smaller under the cover of night.

Yan Ning stepped forward gently and asked in a tender voice:

"Xi Yue, what are you thinking about? You look like something's on your mind."

Shen Xiyue was clearly startled by Yan Ning, and her body trembled slightly.

She shook her head frantically and said repeatedly, "No, no, I just felt a bit stuffy in the room and wanted to come out for some evening breeze."

As she spoke, her eyes flickered, and she subconsciously avoided Yan Ning's gaze.

Yan Ning's lips curled into a gentle smile as he said:

"What a coincidence! I was just thinking of coming out for some fresh air and enjoying the evening breeze. Why don't we come out together?"

Shen Xiyue hesitated for a moment, then nodded gently, "Okay, let's go together then."

The two stood side by side by the railing, the evening breeze blowing in gusts, lifting the hems of their clothes and strands of their hair.

Shen Xiyue gazed at the distant lights, sighing from time to time, the sorrow in her eyes seemingly unyielding.

Yan Ning paused for a moment, then said softly, "Sister, if you have any worries, you can tell me about them."

“I just returned to the Su family home. I don’t know anyone here and I don’t have any friends. Don’t worry, I definitely won’t reveal your affairs.”
