Chapter 212 The toad spirit is hiding among the tribesmen; it must be found.

Xie Huaiye locked the old clan chief's body from behind.

Yan Ning quickly poured the medicine into the old man's mouth.

Suddenly, the old patriarch began to convulse violently.

The bumps on the skin burst one after another, oozing dark purple pus.

Every drop that flows out turns into black smoke in the air.

It makes a hissing sound.

It was also mixed with strange noises that sounded like frogs croaking!

"Hold on! This is the curse poison being forced out of the body!"

Yan Ning shouted and took out nine more silver needles.

It precisely pierced nine major acupoints on the old clan chief's chest.

Finally, after a violent spasm.

The old patriarch suddenly spat out a mouthful of thick, black liquid.

There appeared to be countless tiny black tadpoles wriggling within them.

Then his body went limp and he collapsed onto the bed.

The bumps on my skin subsided at a visible speed, and my breathing became steady and long.

Yan Ning let out a long sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead:

"It's been temporarily suppressed, but the cursed poison has only been forced to the surface..."

She hadn't finished speaking.

Suddenly, the largest lump on the old patriarch's chest burst open.

A black toad phantom the size of a fingernail leaped out and lunged straight at Yan Ning's face!

Xie Huaiye immediately pulled out a sharp blade that he had hidden beforehand, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.

He cleaved the phantom in two.

The phantom emitted a piercing scream before vanishing into thin air.

"This is a cursed spirit!"

Yan Ning said with a serious expression, "It seems that the toad demon has already sensed that we are breaking its spell."

"We must find its true form as soon as possible, otherwise the curse will erupt again within three days, and the old patriarch will surely die!"

Xie Huaiye sheathed his sword, his expression grave.

"So what should we do next?"

Yan Ning looked towards the door, her eyes resolute:

"First, we need to find out who the toad spirit is. It must be hiding in its own tribe, and might even be one of the people we've seen before..."

After Yan Ning finished speaking, she pushed open the door.

The crowd outside then squeezed in.

The old clan chief, who was lying on the bed, had all the frightening rashes on his body gone!

"Heavens! He's a true miracle doctor!"

"This little girl is amazing!"

Exclamations of amazement rose and fell.

Yan Ning, however, did not relax. She looked at everyone with a serious expression:

"The old patriarch's poison has been temporarily suppressed, but the root of the disease has not been eradicated. There is a toad demon hiding in your clan, and it is the one that is harming people."

"A toad spirit?!"

The crowd looked at each other, and then an uproar broke out, their faces filled with terror.

"Don't panic."

Yan Ning raised her voice and brought out a basin of clean water. "I have a basin of special medicinal water here. Everyone come and wash your hands. Whether you are human or demon, you will know after washing."

"If your hand changes color after touching water, it's a toad spirit!"

The deputy clan chief stepped forward first: "I'll do it!"

He put his hand into the water and took it out—

It's spotless, nothing has changed.

One by one, the other tribesmen nervously placed their hands into the basin.

The water was crystal clear, without a trace of anything unusual.

"It seems the toad spirit is not among you."

Yan Ning glanced around, "Guards and maids, all of you come and try!"

The deputy clan chief immediately summoned all the guards and maids on duty.

People lined up and washed their hands one after another, but the water remained calm and still.

At this moment, Yan Ning noticed a little maid in the corner quietly shrinking back.

“You,” Yan Ning pointed at her, “come and try.”

The maid trembled in fright, her face turning pale.

"I...I burned my hand a few days ago, and I can't get it wet..."

Yan Ning narrowed his eyes and walked closer step by step: "A burn? Let me see."

"No... really no..." The maid retreated repeatedly, her eyes darting away.

Yan Ning suddenly approached, his voice turning icy:

"Give me your hand—show it to me!"

The little maid trembled all over, then suddenly stopped trembling.

She slowly lowered her head, her voice becoming strange:

"...Okay, you see."

The next second, she suddenly looked up.

His entire head instantly transformed into a huge, ugly toad!

His eyes bulged out, and his skin was bumpy.

As soon as it opened its mouth, a foul-smelling, sticky liquid dripped down!

"Aaaaaah—a monster!!"

The surrounding tribesmen were terrified and scattered in all directions, screaming.

The toad-headed maid let out a sharp cry and lunged at Yan Ning with her claws!

Yan Ning was prepared and dodged the toad demon's attack by sidestepping.

"It really was you!"

Yan Ning sneered, already gripping a talisman tightly in her hand:

"Hiding among the crowd to harm others, today is the day you are exposed!"

The toad demon roared and pounced again, spitting wildly at Yan Ning.

Yan Ning reacted extremely quickly.

He rolled to the side, avoiding the foul-smelling slime.

The sludge splattered on the floor, immediately corroding several small pits and emitting hissing white smoke.

"What venomous saliva!" Yan Ning's eyes narrowed.

The toad demon realized its attack had missed.

His abdomen suddenly swelled up, and his mouth opened wide.

That sticky, scarlet tongue shot towards Yan Ning like an arrow released from a bow!

Yan Ning was about to throw out the talisman.

But her wrist was tightly entangled by that sticky, powerful tongue.

The talisman instantly slipped from his hand!

"Well!"

The immense force on her tongue violently pulled her toward the toad demon's gaping maw.

A foul, fishy stench assaulted my senses.

Yan Ning fought back with all her might, leaving two marks on the ground with her feet.

At this critical moment.

A sharp black blade of light pierced through the air!

"Whoosh!"

The blade struck the long tongue with perfect precision.
