"Ahhh!"
The toad demon let out an extremely shrill scream.
The giant toad's head was completely severed and flew away.
It crashed to the ground with a thud and rolled a few times.
It turned back into Xiaoyue's human head shape.
His eyes were wide open, filled with fear and resentment.
The enormous toad's body twitched violently a few times.
It eventually collapsed to the ground, turning into a pool of murky sewage, filling the air with a foul stench.
The room was deathly silent.
The clansmen who had fled outside cautiously peeked out.
"Great! The toad demon is dead!"
They breathed a long sigh of relief when they saw the monster vanquished.
Yan Ning squatted down.
He lightly touched the murky sewage with his fingertips, examined it carefully for a moment, then looked up, his tone calm yet resolute:
"The demonic aura has dissipated and will no longer harm people."
The deputy clan chief stood there, his mouth slightly agape.
It took her a while to come to her senses, her voice trembling with excitement:
"Miracle doctor! You truly deserve the title of miracle doctor! Not only are your medical skills superb, but you also know the art of exorcising demons!"
He became increasingly agitated as he spoke, repeatedly bowing and clasping his hands in greeting.
"You saved our clan chief, you are the greatest benefactor of our entire clan! Whatever you need, as long as I can provide it, I will not hesitate!"
Yan Ning smiled faintly and waved her hand, saying, "No need to be polite. If you really care, then release all the doctors in the prison."
Release! Release them right now!
The deputy chieftain responded and solemnly took out a wooden box from his robes, presenting it with both hands:
"Master, these were entrusted to me by several people a few days ago. They said that someone destined to receive them will come and collect them in a few days."
"Seeing you today, I finally understand—this is what fate is all about.
Yan Ning opened the wooden box and saw a delicate hairpin lying quietly inside.
There was a note underneath, with neat handwriting that read:
"Congratulations on obtaining the fourth treasure."
She gently closed the box, tucked it into her sleeve, and walked outside side by side with Xie Huaiye.
The doctors waiting outside all looked anxious.
Upon seeing the two of them walk out unharmed, an uproar immediately erupted:
"They're out! They're really out safe and sound!"
"This girl is truly amazing! She can even exorcise demons!"
"There are always people more capable than you! Look at her, so young, yet she has such talent!"
Everyone chimed in with their own words, their amazement and admiration evident in their expressions.
At this moment, the old doctor walked forward shakily, his eyes red-rimmed and his voice choked with emotion:
“Young lady… no, miracle doctor… if it weren’t for you, I’m afraid I would have died unjustly in this prison…”
He was about to kneel down when Yan Ning quickly reached out to help him up.
"Sir, please don't do this."
Yan Ning's tone was gentle yet firm, "I just did what I was supposed to do. You should go home now; your family is waiting for you."
The old doctor held her hand tightly, and tears finally fell.
"Thank you... thank you so much... I have nothing to repay you with, but I will pray for you every day after I get back..."
He bowed repeatedly before leaving, turning back to look at himself with every step.
Yan Ning watched the departing figures of the crowd and breathed a sigh of relief.
Xie Huaiye whispered to her, "Another matter settled, Master Yan."
The two walked outside side by side.
After walking a few steps, Yan Ning couldn't help but turn her head and ask curiously:
"By the way, how did you suddenly become so powerful? You were actually able to wield a knife and cut down that toad demon?"
Xie Huaiye slowed his pace slightly, his brows furrowing gently.
It seemed as if it was also recalling the scene from just now.
"To be honest, I can't explain it myself."
His tone was tinged with confusion, "When I saw you were about to get hurt, I panicked and tried desperately to think of a solution..."
"I wish there was someone who could help me or give me some strength right now."
He paused, his gaze becoming distant, "and then, a warm feeling really welled up from my heart and flowed throughout my body."
"It's like... suddenly gaining power and speed."
As he spoke, he suddenly stopped in his tracks.
He carefully reached inside his shirt and rummaged around his chest—
Take something out.
It was a jade pendant that had been broken in half.
The edges are not smooth, the cross-section is rough, but the color is warm.
It faintly glowed with a very faint light.
Xie Huaiye's eyes lit up immediately, his voice brimming with excitement:
"It's the Spirit Jade...it's what gave me power!"
Yan Ning was somewhat surprised and leaned closer to take a closer look:
"But wasn't the spirit jade already broken? How could it still be..."
Xie Huaiye gripped the half-piece of jade tightly, his tone earnest:
"Ever since it saved me, I've carried it with me and talk to it whenever I have a spare moment."
"Recently, I've felt it getting hot from time to time, and I thought it was just my imagination... Now that I think about it, maybe it's slowly waking up."
Yan Ning gazed at the jade for a moment, as if he had understood something, and said softly:
"It seems that this spirit jade has truly recognized you as its master. It is now in tune with your will. As long as your faith remains unwavering, it will continue to protect you."
Xie Huaiye's lips curled into a smile. He carefully put the jade pendant back into his pocket and whispered:
"Thank goodness... I'm so glad I still have it."
Yan Ning and Xie Huaiye had just stepped out of the main hall.
Sun Wuji, Qi Minghao, Su Muyao, and Basha immediately surrounded them.
Sun Wuji was the first to rush forward, with a drone buzzing behind him, filming.
He grabbed Yan Ning's arm, his voice urgent and loud:
"Oh my Ning! You guys are finally out! We almost teamed up and rushed in to save the day! Did they give you any trouble?"
