Chapter 232 If you hadn't been with me all this way, I probably wouldn't have made it.

After leaving the hospital, Butler Liu took Yan Ning back to the Xie family home.

After the hospital incident, it was already very late when we arrived at the Xie family's house.

However, the moment Yan Ning pushed open the door, she was stunned.

I thought everyone would be asleep by now, but the living room light was still on.

Xie Huaiye, Xiao Zhuo, Xie Heng, and even Ren Xuelan were there.

They all looked at her, as if they had been waiting for a long time.

"Why...aren't you all going to sleep?" Yan Ning asked in surprise.

Xiao Zhu was dozing off next to Xie Huaiye.

Upon hearing her voice, he immediately opened his eyes wide, jumped off the sofa, and ran over:

"Sister! You're finally back! We've all been waiting for you!"

Xie Heng nodded with a smile: "Yes, we were worried until we saw you come back safely."

Xie Huaiye took a few steps forward, gently took her wrist, and asked in a low voice:

"Ningning, are you alright? Did they give you any trouble?"

His brows were slightly furrowed, and there was unconcealed worry in his eyes.

Yan Ning felt a warmth in her heart, took a document out of her bag, and handed it to him:

"I'm fine, look."

Xie Huaiye took it and opened it, his eyes immediately lighting up:

"The share transfer agreement? You got it back?"

"Yes, Su Chengyue signed it."

Yan Ning said with a smile, "From now on, I am the largest shareholder of the company."

"That's great!" Xiao Zhu clapped her hands and jumped up. "Sister is so amazing!"

Xie Heng nodded with satisfaction: "Xiao Ning, this is wonderful news! From now on, you'll be President Yan!"

Yan Ning was a little embarrassed: "I don't know much yet... I might have to trouble you to guide me more often in the future."

"Don't be so polite, child!"

Xie Heng smiled and waved his hand, "You're so smart, you'll definitely be able to get the hang of it quickly."

At this moment, Ren Xuelan, who hadn't said much, stood up.

His tone was still calm, but gentler than usual.

"I have to catch an early flight tomorrow, so I'll take Xiaozhuo to bed first."

She waved to Xiaozhuo, "Let's go, we'll talk to your sister again tomorrow."

Although Xiao Zhuo was a little reluctant, she still nodded obediently and waved to Yan Ning.

Goodnight, sister!

Xie Heng also yawned, and winked at Yan Ning with a smile:

"I'm too old to stay up all night, you young people can chat a little longer."

He turned and went upstairs, and the living room suddenly became quiet.

Only Yan Ning and Xie Huaiye remained.

The warm yellow light shone down, and Xie Huaiye still held Yan Ning's hand.

He looked closely at Yan Ning, as if to confirm that she was truly standing there unharmed.

"Are you really okay?" he asked again softly.

"It's really okay."

Yan Ning smiled and gently squeezed his fingers in return, "With you all here, how could anything happen to me?"

The two walked hand in hand to the spacious terrace.

The night breeze was gentle, carrying a slight coolness as it brushed against my cheek.

The deep night sky seemed to be soaked in ink, yet it was adorned with tiny starlight.

It twinkled and shone brightly.

Yan Ning leaned against the railing, gazing at the starry sky, and let out a long sigh:

"Finally... I've finished dealing with everything. It feels like ages have passed. I'm so tired."

Xie Huaiye didn't speak, he just extended his hand.

He gently put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.

His body heat emanated through the thin fabric of his clothes, warm and reassuring.

"You've done a very good job."

He said in a low voice, "Braver than anyone could imagine."

Yan Ning turned her head, gazing at his profile in the dim starlight, her tone becoming somewhat ethereal:

“Huaiye, the Su family is now in ruins... I thought I would feel great.”

"But when the moment actually came, I felt empty inside."

Xie Huaiye hugged her tighter, his gaze calmly returning hers:

"That's because you're different from them, Ningning. You always keep kindness and room for maneuver in your heart."

"Don't blame yourself for this. It just shows that you haven't been changed by hatred and that you've stayed true to yourself."

His words flowed like warm water through her heart, and Yan Ning felt a slight tingling in her nose.

She turned around and buried her face in his warm chest.

Her arms encircled his waist, and her voice came in a muffled tone:

"If you hadn't been with me all this way, I probably wouldn't have made it. Huaiye, thank you so much."

Xie Huaiye lowered his head and chuckled softly, his fingers gently stroking her hair:

"A verbal thank you... isn't enough."

He lifted her face and lovingly rubbed her cheek with his thumb.

His gaze lingered on her lips, his eyes deep and tender.

"May I?"

Yan Ning did not answer, but instead stood on tiptoe, using actions to express her feelings.

She closed her eyes and gently kissed his lips.

In that instant, Xie Huaiye seemed to be ignited.

He put one arm around her shoulder and the other around the back of her neck, returning her a deep kiss.

I don't know how long they kissed.

Yan Ning was so weak from the kiss that she could barely stand.

She instinctively tried to take a step back, but somehow her foot slipped.

"ah!"

She gasped and fell backward.

"careful!"

Xie Huaiye reacted very quickly and immediately reached out to grab her.

But the force of her falling pulled her along.

The two of them tumbled into the large, soft sofa behind them.

In an instant, the world spun around.

When Yan Ning came to her senses, she found herself lying on the sofa.

Xie Huaiye pressed firmly against her.

Their bodies were pressed tightly together, with almost no gap between them.
