Yan Ning slammed the door shut, shutting out Su Muyao's furiously contorted face.
The world is peaceful now.
Su Muyao, standing outside the door, stomped her feet in anger, her chest heaving violently, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
"Mom, look at her!"
Her voice was trembling with tears as she pointed to the tightly closed door.
Jiang Lan quickly stepped forward and put her arm around Su Muyao's shoulder:
"Oh dear, my Yao Yao, what's wrong now? That little brat... cough, how did Su Yanning upset you this time?"
Her gaze drifted toward Yan Ning's door, and the curse she was about to utter was swallowed back down.
"She, she just said..."
Su Muyao sobbed, "How could Brother Huaiye invite her to dinner? How could Brother Huaiye possibly be interested in someone like her?"
"She's definitely lying, she's just trying to annoy me, she's driving me crazy!"
The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, and tears streamed down her face.
"Oh dear, silly child, is that all it is?"
Jiang Lan quickly patted her back and comforted her, "Don't worry, don't worry, Huaiye has such high standards, how could he possibly be interested in her?"
"That girl is just a toad trying to eat swan meat, dreaming big! Don't listen to her nonsense, she's just jealous of you and wants to make you unhappy!"
Su Muyao felt a little better after receiving the assurance, but she was still sobbing.
"Really? Mom, you have to keep a close eye on her and make sure she doesn't try anything to get close to Brother Huaiye..."
"Don't worry, don't worry, Mom knows what she's doing."
Jiang Lan repeatedly assured her, "Go wash your face and get some rest. Don't get angry over someone who isn't worth it. It will upset your health and make your mother worry."
Su Muyao then returned to her room, feeling wronged.
As soon as the door closed, most of her tears stopped flowing.
She was already planning how to find an opportunity to expose Yan Ning's true colors in front of Huai Ye.
In the following days, even more farces occurred at the school.
Su Muyao seized every opportunity to make things difficult for Yan Ning.
As Yan Ning walked down the corridor, she rolled her eyes and deliberately whispered to the person next to her.
Yan Ning went to the cafeteria to get food, and she accidentally tripped over it.
Even when she goes to the restroom during breaks, she'll make sarcastic remarks to the person next to her.
"Some people go on TV shows to show off, aren't they afraid of being exposed later?"
Yan Ning didn't take her little tricks seriously at all.
Every time Su Muyao picked a fight, she would swat her away with a single, light retort, as if swatting a fly:
"The hallway is so wide, did you run into a wall because you can't see properly?"
"Stretching your legs out so far, trying to be a tripwire? Too bad there are people here but no horses."
"Envious? Jealous? Too bad, you can't imitate it."
Su Muyao was always left speechless and unable to gain any advantage, so she could only keep her anger inside.
Seeing Yan Ning acting as if nothing had happened, she became even more furious.
Meanwhile, the variety show "Mystery City 72 Hours" that Yan Ning participated in has become a hit online.
The first episode had just finished airing when the internet exploded.
The audience was enthusiastically discussing the mind-bending puzzles and the performances of the guests.
In particular, Yan Ning's calm yet slightly cunning style has won her many fans.
It trended on several hot searches, and the comments section was flooded with messages, with everyone urging for more updates.
Seeing such a positive response, the production team immediately started filming the second episode.
A few days later, Yan Ning, carrying her bulging backpack, arrived at the recording studio as if she knew the way well.
The same familiar faces of the guests greeted each other indifferently.
When Sun Wuji saw Yan Ning arrive, he immediately ran over excitedly and chatted with Yan Ning about all sorts of random things.
Although Yan Ning found him a bit annoying, she didn't chase him away because he had helped her last time.
Jiang Yao was still standing alone on the side, occasionally fixing his hair and clothes in front of the camera, showing an unusually strong sense of idol image.
Su Muyao and Xia Wantang seemed to have planned this beforehand, sticking to Feng Jun like two pieces of chewing gum.
Their faces were beaming with sickeningly sweet smiles, and they called each other "Brother Feng Jun" affectionately.
They chattered incessantly around him, their eyes full of begging to be carried along.
Standing next to Feng Jun was Qi Minghao. Su Muyao and Xia Wantang didn't neglect him either, occasionally bringing up topics to try and make the two big shots feel comfortable.
Their intention to curry favor couldn't be clearer.
Soon, a small team of experienced players, consisting of top performers Feng Jun and Qi Minghao, and supportive girls Su Muyao and Xia Wantang, quickly formed.
Yan Ning stood to the side, watching the four of them enjoying themselves, raised an eyebrow, and said nothing.
The corners of her mouth seemed to curve into a very faint arc, with a hint of amusement.
Looks like another good show is about to begin.
This time, however, it's uncertain how long these two "plastic sisters" can cling to each other's legs.
"Haven't seen me for a few days, has anyone missed me?"
Zhou Tian walked to the center with a smile, looked around, and said to everyone:
"In the last episode, we tearfully said goodbye to two friends, so in this episode, new friends have joined our brain-teasing adventure!"
He deliberately dragged out the melody, whetting everyone's appetite:
"This new contestant is a heavyweight! He's very low-key and rarely seen, but his skills are absolutely top-notch!"
Zhou Tian gave a thumbs up, "Come on, friends, let's give a round of applause to welcome our mysterious new guest!"
"Whoosh—"
Applause immediately erupted, and everyone turned their heads toward the entrance.
