Chapter 9: The soul must be sent away before sunset!

Yan Ning pondered for a moment, his eyes flickering slightly, as if he was weighing something.

She finally spoke, "It's possible, but once you leave the building, you won't have much time left."

"I must get rid of you before the sun goes down, or your soul will be scattered."

Xiaoman paused for a moment, then nodded seriously, a hint of gratitude flashing in her eyes.

She said firmly, "Okay, I'll leave as soon as I can see my parents!"

Yan Ning nodded and took a bottle out of her bag.

The bottle looked a bit old and had some wear on the surface, but Yan Ning had carefully wiped it clean, making it look exceptionally clean.

She let Xiaoman possess her and went inside, then walked out of the toilet.

Just then, they bumped right into Su Muyao and her little follower who were going to the restroom.

She saw the bottle in Yan Ning's hand, and a hint of disdain flashed in her eyes:

"Cousin, this is an old antique, and you even brought it to school."

Yan Ning subconsciously moved the bottle back a little and said in a deep voice, "What's it to you?"

After saying that, she strode into the classroom, leaving Su Muyao standing there, her eyes narrowed, a hint of malice flashing in them.

Lunchtime arrived quickly, and Yan Ning packed her things and got up to eat.

Su Muyao's eyes lit up, and she took the opportunity to run to Yan Ning's table and start rummaging through it.

She quickly found the bottle, grinned mischievously, and muttered to herself:

"I want to see what's inside!"

After saying that, she immediately pulled off the bottle's cork.

"puff--"

The next second, a stream of ink suddenly gushed out and splashed onto her face.

"Ahhh!"

Su Muyao screamed in fright and threw the bottle away.

The bottle traced an arc in the air and landed squarely in Yan Ning's hand.

Yan Ning happened to walk in from outside. She smiled and said calmly:

"Didn't your mother teach you not to touch other people's things?"

"You! You did this on purpose!"

Su Muyao trembled with anger as she got up from the ground, her eyes filled with rage and resentment.

Yan Ning said calmly, "Don't blame me for not reminding you, it will be too late to wash it off."

Su Muyao immediately rushed to the toilet and began frantically washing her face.

"You bitch, I'll make you pay next time!"

She cursed Yan Ning as she washed, but the ink had already seeped into her skin and she couldn't get it clean no matter how much she washed.

After lunch, everyone returned to the classroom.

Su Muyao walked into the classroom with her head down and her face covered.

A girl next to her asked in surprise, "Mu Yao, why is your face so dark? What did you do?"

"I……"

Su Muyao was too embarrassed to admit that she had gotten it by secretly going through Yan Ning's things, so she could only stammer out:

"I accidentally got splashed with ink from the pen cap."

The girl continued, "Then why is there such a large black area? There shouldn't be much ink left in the pen cap."

Su Muyao lowered her head even further and muttered, "I don't know either... don't ask."

For the rest of the afternoon, Su Muyao didn't dare to raise her head during class, afraid that others would see her uncleaned face.

She was in a terrible mood and sat there sullenly, glancing furtively at her own face every now and then.

When school was over, Yan Ning walked out with her schoolbag on her back.

She found Xiaoman's house at the address Xiaoman gave her.

Xiaoman's house is located in a small alley. It's an old house with mottled walls covered in vines.

"Ring ring!" She rang the doorbell.

The door slowly opened, and a middle-aged woman with a haggard face appeared in the doorway, her eyes filled with a hint of wariness.

Who are you looking for?

"Hello, Auntie, I'm Xiaoman's classmate, my name is Yan Ning."

Yan Ning smiled slightly, her tone gentle yet firm, "Xiao Man asked me to come find you; she wants to see you all."

"Xiaoman?!"

The middle-aged woman's face turned pale instantly, her body trembled slightly, and she looked at Yan Ning in disbelief.

Yan Ning said gently, "I know Xiaoman is no longer here, but she has something she wants to say to you."

The middle-aged woman's eyes widened, and she pressed, "After Xiaoman died, so many people lied to us about being able to see her. Why should I believe you?"

Yan Ning smiled and said calmly, "Xiaoman was born on May 22nd. She was born during the Xiaoman season, so she was named Xiaoman."

"She was very obedient and sensible, and her grades were excellent. She was recruited as a special talent at a prestigious school, but she fell in love with an upperclassman at school. After being heartbroken, she committed suicide."

“She told me that her mother was very good to her and always made her sweet rice balls for glutinous rice. She also had 500 yuan of New Year’s money hidden under her pillow that she had never used. Her father was very busy with work and worked two part-time jobs.”

The woman paused, then her expression softened upon hearing "sweet rice balls in fermented rice wine." After a moment, she whispered:

"Okay, I'll trust you for now. Come in."

Yan Ning walked into the room, which was dimly lit and quiet, with only a photo of Xiaoman hanging on the wall.

In the photo, Xiaoman has a bright smile and clear eyes.

"Auntie, Xiaoman misses you all very much."

Yan Ning sat on the sofa and said softly, "She hopes you can forgive her. She didn't leave you on purpose."

Tears welled up in the middle-aged woman's eyes instantly, and she choked out:

"How could we not forgive her? She's our precious darling!"

At this moment, a middle-aged man walked in, his eyes showing a hint of weariness and pain:
