Chapter 5: Things stained with human blood can become sentient!

One more person—no, one more stone—is better than her fighting alone.

Yan Ning nodded and said calmly, "Okay, then you can stay."

"Yay!"

The little stone happily tumbled in the air, its face beaming with joy.

Yan Ning changed the subject and continued, "There's something I need to tell you in advance, so don't have any other ulterior motives."

“If you go elsewhere and cause trouble or do evil, I will not protect you; you will still be killed as before.”

Little Stone nodded seriously and replied crisply, "Don't worry, sister, I can tell the difference between being full at one meal and being full at every other meal."

It paused for a moment, then said, "Sister, I don't have a name yet. Can you give me one?"

Yan Ning frowned, thought for a moment, and said, "I don't know how to name someone, so let's just call him Xiao Shi."

Little Stone smiled happily, "Great! From today onwards, I have a name!"

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Aunt Chen's voice came through:

"Are you hungry, Miss? Would you like some snacks?"

Yan Ning looked at Xiao Shi and whispered, "Want to see a good show?"

Xiao Shi was stunned for a moment. "Huh? What's the show?"

Yan Ning didn't answer it, but raised her voice and said, "Okay, come in."

Aunt Chen walked in with a smile and placed a plate of mung bean cakes on the table.

The mung bean cake has a faint fragrance and looks very soft and chewy.

Aunt Chen looked around, paused, and then asked:

"Miss, were you... chatting with someone just now?"

Yan Ning shook her head. "No, I was memorizing something."

Aunt Chen smiled and said, "Then you should eat it while it's hot. I won't bother you any longer."

Aunt Chen looked around the room and suddenly noticed a small golden gourd lying on the floor at the foot of the bed.

She glanced at Yan Ning and noticed that Yan Ning was eating mung bean cakes and not looking at her.

She felt a strong urge to pick it up, so she quickly bent down, picked up the little golden gourd, and left.

After Aunt Chen left, Yan Ning stood up and said with a smile, "The fish have taken the bait. Let's go haul in the net."

Aunt Chen had just put the golden gourd into her bag when Yan Ning came out and shouted loudly:

"Hey, where did my golden gourd go?!"

Jiang Lan came up to her and asked in confusion, "Yan Ning, what's wrong? Did you lose something?"
