The ground was in complete chaos.
Sweat beaded on the foreheads of the staff member, who held a walkie-talkie to his mouth and shouted in a hoarse voice:
"Try again! Start the backup power! Quickly!"
"It's no use! It's completely ineffective!"
"How could this happen? What should we do?!"
The others were like headless flies.
They all circled around the control room, their faces filled with despair.
The cries of tourists, the screams of children, and the angry curses of men.
It all blended into a despairing noise.
The highest point of the Ferris wheel.
Yan Ning's heart was pounding wildly in his chest.
Thump, thump, thump—it made my eardrums ache.
"Brother, I'm scared... Can we go down?" Xiao Zhu asked fearfully.
"Don't worry, it's a mechanical malfunction. It will be fixed soon. Let's just stay up there a little longer."
Xie Huaiye smiled, patted Xiao Zhuo's head, and comforted him.
Yan Ning took a deep breath and focused his gaze on the core of the malfunction.
The Ferris wheel's massive central axis.
That place, once the heart of the steel behemoth, has now become the noose of death.
The night was as thick as ink.
A massive gear joint on the central axis.
It reflected a cold, hard metallic luster under the searchlight.
Right there within that complex steel structure...
Yan Ning suddenly narrowed his eyes.
wrong!
What is that?
A blinding white streak clung to the gears like a ghost!
It stands out from the cold steel.
Her heart skipped a beat, she held her breath, and strained to look.
On the massive central axle, in the cold gaps between the gears…
A woman was stuck there!
The white dress was tattered and stained with oil.
It drifted eerily in the night wind.
Her long, wet black hair hung down, completely obscuring her face.
She was like a worn-out doll that had been carelessly discarded.
Its limbs were twisted and stuck at the crucial meshing point of the giant gear.
Not moving at all.
That's not a human!
Yan Ning understood instantly.
A bone-chilling cold shot up from the soles of my feet to the top of my head.
Even the warmth of Xie Huaiye's palm couldn't dispel it.
It's not a mechanical malfunction! It's this female ghost!
She used her own body to stop the gears of fate!
She wanted to make this entire group of people... die with her!
“Huaiye…” Yan Ning’s voice trembled almost imperceptibly.
She pointed to the central axis, "Look there!"
Xie Huaiye followed her gaze.
His sharp eyes instantly locked onto that unusual white figure.
Even though he was used to seeing all kinds of things, his pupils suddenly contracted.
"What is that?" he whispered.
"Not a thing..."
Yan Ning calmly said, "She's the one causing trouble, she's jammed the gears. If we don't deal with her, no matter how much the people below try, it won't make a difference."
Xiao Zhu looked in that direction for a long time, "Why can't I see it? Brother and sister, what are you talking about?"
The situation was critical, and Yan Ning didn't explain much to Xiao Zhuo.
Ordinary people cannot see this scene, and the chaos on the ground will only be in vain.
Time flies by.
Every second, the car suspended high in the air may succumb to the pressure.
Or it may fall due to the complete breakdown of a component.
A crazy and dangerous idea.
It quickly took shape in Yan Ning's mind.
"You stay here and take good care of Xiao Zhuo. Don't go out!" Yan Ning said quickly, her eyes sharp.
"Yan Ning! What are you doing?! You can't!"
Xie Huaiye's expression changed drastically. He reached out to grab her, but grasped only air.
My heart jumped into my throat.
Yan Ning did not answer.
She took a deep breath, her gaze fixed on the white figure stuck between the gears.
She pulled the elevator door open just wide enough for one person to pass through.
A sudden gust of wind rushed in, making her long hair dance wildly.
He could barely stand.
Below your feet is a dizzying height of 100 meters.
There is no way out.
Yan Ning gritted her teeth and gripped the cold metal frame outside the sedan chair tightly with both hands.
The cold touch pierced my palm.
She cautiously leaned out.
Place one foot on the narrow maintenance pedal that connects the car and the main shaft.
The pedals are only palm-width apart.
It was covered in rust and trembled slightly in the wind.
One step, then another.
Yan Ning clung tightly to the cold steel frame like a gecko.
It moved inch by inch toward the gear joint of the central axis.
Every move.
All of this was accompanied by the groaning of metal and the wobbling of the pedals underfoot.
The gale tore at her clothes, as if trying to throw her into an abyss.
Yan Ning dared not look down.
He could only stare intently at the white figure that was getting closer and closer.
"Sister, don't go! Come back! We don't want to be separated!"
Xiao Zhu cried in distress, tears and snot streaming down her face.
"Yan Ning! Come back! It's too dangerous!"
Xie Huaiye's roar was broken by the wind.
It was filled with unprecedented panic.
He leaned half his body out of the sedan chair and stretched out his hand.
But they were devastated to find that the distance was too far.
He could only watch helplessly.
Yan Ning's slender figure moved within the massive steel skeleton.
Small and fragile, as if it could be swallowed by darkness at any moment.
His heart was gripped tightly by a large hand.
I can barely breathe.
He had never been so afraid of losing her.
The crowd below spotted someone climbing toward the central axis and exclaimed in surprise:
"Oh my god! What is that person doing? That's dangerous!"
"It looks like a girl. Does she want to repair the Ferris wheel?"
"It's so high, you'll die if you fall! Oh my god!"
