Chapter 11: Can lightning strike a valley?

Chapter 11: Can lightning strike a valley?

Thunderclouds flashed in the sky, and a bolt of blue-purple lightning, carrying overwhelming force, crashed down.

The red mist was swirled away by the whirlwind, revealing the sky that had been obscured for so long.

The blue-purple lightning bolt, like a spear, pierced straight into the immobilized little zombie.

Suddenly, a strange sound came from behind the red mist. The thing broke through the mist, opening its enormous mouth, seemingly trying to bite the top of the little zombie—

However, it was too late.

The lightning was incredibly fast; before you could even blink, it had already struck the little zombie.

The impact of the lightning strike created a ripple that spread the red mist outwards for a moment, and the little furball was no match for it, being sent flying several meters away.

It was momentarily stunned by the fall, but it still managed to prop itself up with its branch-like legs and wobbled as it approached again.

"Boom!"

The gray ball of fur looked up in surprise; the thunder wasn't over yet!

Suddenly, a voice rang out from behind the red mist.

Its voice was deep and resonant, but the ending note rose slightly: "Why do you always like to cause me trouble?"

With a thud, a huge, translucent claw stomped down not far from the little zombie.

The claws were solid and snow-white at the tips, each claw being about half the size of a farmland. Due to the thick red mist, only a large tuft of ice-blue fur hanging down from above could be barely seen.

"Beg me, beg me, and I'll save you—"

The flippant voice came to an abrupt halt.

The giant white claw disappeared, and in its place appeared a fleeting, golden pupil-like phantom, which vanished in an instant.

"Wow, that's interesting."

A deafening roar echoed once more from the sky, as if venting its anger.

The red mist had already dissipated, but a red lightning bolt, about the thickness of a thumb, struck down silently again, this time only hitting the white sand.

Although this lightning bolt wasn't as imposing as the previous ones, its power was no less. It sent the nearby white sand flying everywhere and, in the blink of an eye, cleaved a two-meter-deep crater in the ground.

The white sand drifted down like a veil near the point where lightning struck.

After everything calmed down, a rustling sound suddenly came from the bottom of the pit.

A cat about 30 centimeters long emerged from the white sand. It shook its body, removing the sand and revealing its light brown fur.

"Phew—that was close."

The kitten twitched its nose a few times and patted the white sand next to it with its big, thick paws: "Hey, hey, hey, how long are you going to lie there? Hurry up and get out."

Silence.

The kitten's half-closed eyes gradually opened, and it stood up, its lazy feeling vanishing in an instant.

It opened its mouth, and the long hair around its neck moved without wind, and a warm current emanated from its body.

Just as the heat was about to solidify, a hand suddenly emerged from the white sand.

It's fortunate that this is the location; if it were a darker setting, we could practically film a horror movie here.

The bluish-gray hand reached out and grabbed at the air twice, then stretched out a bit further, trying to climb out by scrambling through the white sand. However, the sand was too slippery, and its fingers kept slipping even after trying for a long time.

The kitten, exhausted, plopped back down and watched with squinted eyes, showing no intention of helping at all.

Half an hour later, the little zombie that looked like a child finally crawled out of the sandpit.

His hair stood on end like a sea urchin, and his bluish-gray skin remained rough and dry, yet there were no wounds.

The little zombie gently put the fluffy ball down from its arms. The fluffy ball rolled over and stood up, then began to happily circle around the little zombie.

Although it wasn't injured, its legs were weak, and as it ran, it bumped into the little zombie's leg, causing that leg to twitch immediately.

The little zombie froze immediately, staring down at its feet as if they weren't part of its body, but some strange new monster.

After observing for a while, he sat down, carefully touched his toes with his finger, and then shook them.

"system!"

He immediately shouted, completely unaware that his voice truly betrayed his panic.

The system did not respond.

This is not normal.

The kitten and the fur ball exchanged a glance, then looked together at the little zombie whose eyes were filled with panic.

"Hey," the kitten strolled up to the little zombie, "what's your name?"

The little zombie looked completely bewildered: "Name...?"

The brown kitten didn't have the same patience as the system. It didn't want to take care of the kitten, so it skipped the explanation and the topic altogether. It simply said, "The 'system' you're talking about, is that the thing that talks to you every day?"

The little zombie nodded: "System, speak!"

The brown-furred kitten asked again, "Is it your spirit? How come you can't sense it?"

This time, the little zombie could only understand a little bit. He tried to understand for a while, then said seriously with a stern face, "System, don't... speak."

Brown-furred kitten: "......"

The kitten decided to give up on communicating.

Although it decided to stand by and do nothing, it didn't say anything. The little zombie just kept staring at the sky while holding the ball of fur, as if it could bring the system back.

After nightfall and daybreak, the kitten looked at the ball of fur nestled in front of the little zombie, yawned, and sighed helplessly: "I say, if all else fails, let's look for those fields first."

The little zombie and the fur ball were taken aback.

They turned to look around, and all they could see was a blanket of white sand and red mist.

They were only a few steps away from the farmland before the thunder started, but where is the farmland?

The little zombie quickly got up and started walking around the pit, but after most of the day, he finally realized the reality: the farmland was gone.

The system was gone, and the farmland that the system had repeatedly warned about was also gone. The little zombie panicked immediately.

"Find it, find it!"

They said they were looking for farmland, but how are they supposed to find it in this huge spatial rift?

The little zombie looked bewildered, while the gray-furred ball slowly turned its head and looked at the brown-furred kitten.

Kitten: "Don't look at me, that field is strange, I couldn't find it from the beginning."

The little zombie isn't very bright, the fluffy ball hasn't grown up, and the kitten is out of ideas.

The three little ones looked at each other, and finally decided to walk around some more, just in case they saw it along the way.

And so they walked from day to night.

The shards of the mirror that used to provide light at night have been scattered somewhere, and there is not a single ray of light in the space.

The little zombie and the fur ball have poor eyesight, while the brown-furred kitten is the opposite; even shrouded in red mist, it can walk freely in the dark.

So it turned into a little zombie carrying a frail gray ball of fur, slowly following behind the kitten.

An hour later, the kitten, noticing something was wrong, stopped and opened its mouth wide, letting out a "whoosh".

Originally, this space was like a flat mezzanine, with white sand at the bottom and something resembling the sky at the top. These two mezzanine layers created a space.

However, the surface of this space has now undergone tremendous changes.

About fifty meters away from the little zombies, the ground sank deep, and red mist filled the air, making it look like a valley shrouded in fog.

The kitten crouched down, its round eyes practically shining as it gazed at the valley floor: "If things continue like this, what will this place become...?"

It glanced back at the little zombie and suggested, "Let's wait until dawn. When it's light, we'll go down and look for it."

However, once the sun came out and there was enough light, new problems arose.

The valley was shrouded in mist, so even a kitten wouldn't know how deep it was. The sides of the valley were steep, and no one could say for sure if the soft sand below was the same as before.

If not, who knows what might happen if you rashly slide down the cliff?

The brown-furred kitten muttered to itself, "Tsk, if only this place weren't so fragile..."

The fluffy ball: "Awooooo."

The kitten rolled its eyes: "I know, I know, but I didn't use it directly."

Just as the two furry little creatures were whispering to each other, the little zombie who had been lying on the edge of the cliff looking down suddenly blinked.

He got up, bent down, picked up two balls of fur with one hand, and jumped off the cliff.

"Aaaaaahh ...

"Awoo!"

Amidst the kitten's squeals and the furballs' excited growls, the little zombie, clutching two furballs, leaned against the "cliff" and slid straight down like it was on a vertical ladder in a water park.

He skillfully curled up, tucking the two fluffy balls in front of his chest, and in a split second, twisted his body and rolled onto the ground.

The little zombie rolled more than ten meters away. When it finally stopped rolling, the kitten that had crawled out of his arms had its fur all puffed up. It collapsed on the ground as soon as it landed, its legs too weak to stand up.

The valley floor was indeed nearly a hundred meters above the ground. When the little zombie crashed into the ground, it made a terrifying "thud." If it were a human, it would probably have been smashed to pieces.

But the little zombie was unharmed and was now squatting in front of the brown-furred kitten, hugging a ball of fur.

Both of them looked at the kitten that was about to vomit and tilted their heads in unison.

Little zombie: "Scared?"

Brown-furred kitten: "......"

Brown kitten: "I'm not afraid!"

It made a loud noise, but all four of its legs were shaking, so it wasn't convincing at all.

The little zombie blinked and made eye contact with the gray ball of fur.

Ignoring the brown kitten's still ruffled fur, he simply picked it up. Because he only had one hand, he could only place the larger cat underneath, with the fur ball piled on top of the kitten, and carried it around with one hand like a circus act.

The only inconvenience is that when these two fluffy balls are stacked up, they completely block the little zombie's view.

"Go straight! Go straight!"

"A little to the right, to the right, oh dear."

The brown kitten looked disgusted, but showed no intention of jumping down and walking on its own. The gray ball of fur lying on its back yawned widely.

However, it froze before it could even close its mouth.

The red mist around them seemed to be drawn by something, and actually started moving on its own in this windless place.

The brown-furred kitten noticed it too, and immediately stopped the little zombie, looking around warily with the gray-furred ball.

At that moment, a wisp of red mist gathered and formed a line of words in front of them.

Come over here, hurry up.
