When they returned to the ward, Lin Xier had already left, and only her father and mother were in the room.

When Gao Lan heard someone come in, she turned around and saw that it was Xu Feifei. She said gently, "Feifei, please sit down for a while."

After finishing speaking, he started talking to the person on the other end of the phone, sounding like he was dealing with company matters.

Xu Feifei pursed her lips and stared blankly at her back for a long while.

There was a knock on the door. Xu Feifei got up and opened it, and saw that it was Su Huan and Lin Yuan who came in.

"Feifei, you..."

Before they could finish speaking, the door slammed shut, leaving the two of them completely turned away.

Su Huan looked embarrassed and turned to Lin Yuan, saying, "What are we going to do? Have we ruined the plot?"

"It's alright, she'll find out sooner or later. This just speeds up the plot, and besides, no matter how the plot of this world develops, it will always get back on track, right?"

Lin Yuan gave a cold smirk and said nothing more.

Xu Feifei slammed the door shut in anger and returned to her seat, her face full of rage.

Hearing the commotion, Gao Lan spoke briefly on the phone before putting it away and asking, "Feifei, who's outside? Who upset you?"

Xu Feifei turned her head away and said, "Salespeople, annoying."

Gao Lan frowned. "Next time something like this happens, just let the hospital staff handle it. Don't let it affect your mood."

"Yes, I will."

Although she believed in her heart that what Su Huan and Lin Yuan said was a lie, those words did indeed disturb her mind.

I want to ask, but I don't know how.

Xu Feifei hesitated for a long time, looking at her mother who seemed to want to speak but couldn't, and tried to speak several times but choked back her words.

Gao Lan noticed her eyes and her slight movements, and asked with concern, "What's wrong? You seem preoccupied, and your eyes are red. Did something happen?"

Xu Feifei had calmed down, but the moment her mother showed concern, her emotions surged. She bit her lip tightly, her eyes welling up with tears.

Seeing this, Gao Lan panicked and asked, "What's wrong? You can tell Mom what happened, and Mom will help you solve it."

Xu Feifei wanted to ask several times if she was their biological daughter, but she couldn't bring herself to say it. Looking at Xu Furen lying on the bed with tubes inserted all over his body, her sorrow deepened.

Seeing that she was staring at the bed for a long time without speaking, Gao Lan gently comforted her, "Don't worry, Dad will wake up, and Mom will always be by your side."

Xu Feifei immediately hugged her and burst into tears. Her heavy heart was somewhat relieved at that moment, and the unsteady feeling under her feet became much more grounded.

There was a knock on the door, and a nurse opened it.

"Ms. Gao, the doctor who came from abroad is in the conference room discussing the surgery with Mr. Xu's attending physician."

"Okay, I'll be there in a bit."

After Gao Lan agreed, she turned to Xu Feifei and said, "Feifei, I'm going over there now to see what's going on. I'll be back later."

Xu Feifei nodded and watched her and the nurse leave the room.

A woman walked to the bedside and stared at her father for a long time. Before he got sick, her father was usually authoritative to outsiders, but he would smile at her in private and occasionally throw a little tantrum. Now, however, he lay on the hospital bed, his face pale and haggard, looking as if he had aged more than ten years since the incident.

Look closely at his nose, eyes, and facial features; their eyebrows, eyes, and lips are quite similar. Why do Su Huan and the others say she's not their biological daughter?

Thinking of this, Xu Feifei couldn't help but feel annoyed. She had indeed been influenced; a few words had made her doubt whether she was her parents' biological child.

Next time I see them, I'm definitely going to give them a good scolding!

The more I thought about it, the angrier I got, so I went to the window for some fresh air. As I turned around, I bumped into a cabinet. I stumbled, my shin hit the table, and my bag fell off, almost making me fall flat on my face.

"ah!"

Xu Feifei was in so much pain that she couldn't stand up. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she hugged her knees and gasped for breath, the pain in her shinbone lingering for a long time.

Sure enough, when bad luck strikes, even drinking cold water can cause problems. Not a single day went smoothly.

After calming down and tidying up her scattered belongings, Xu Feifei noticed a document tucked inside her bag. Curious, she took it out; the cover of the document had the words "DNA Testing" written in large red characters.

Upon seeing those words, Xu Feifei was immediately alarmed, and her hands trembled uncontrollably. Her previously calmed emotions were once again hanging in the air, and the conversation between Su Huan and Lin Yuan resurfaced in her mind.

"No, no. Mom said she would always be by her side. I'm the person Mom and Dad love the most. No, no."

Xu Feifei murmured to herself, the three words "no" acting like a stabilizing force in her heart, trying her best to deny all bad thoughts and feelings.

After an unknown amount of time, she shakily opened the document and, with a sense of desperation, scanned the last line: DNA match, biological child.

Xu Feifei breathed a sigh of relief, her previous gloom vanished, and she smiled broadly, saying, "I knew it, I'm their biological daughter."

As I was putting the documents into my back pocket, I glanced at the name column: Xu Furen, Lin Xier. The relief I had just felt shattered into countless pieces.

He walked out of the room in a daze and staggered onto the rooftop.

"You're here?"

Xu Feifei looked up and saw Lin Yuan leaning against the wall, watching her. A surge of anger welled up inside her. "You followed me? Did you come to see me make a fool of myself?"

Lin Yuan raised an eyebrow. "You're overthinking it."

Xu Feifei glared at him fiercely, "Am I overthinking things or are you hiding something? But you won't get anything out of me. As you wish, I'm not my parents' biological daughter. Lin Xier is."

Looking at her expression, Lin Yuan frowned unhappily and said, "You shouldn't make such an expression. I've never thought of getting any benefits from your family, and I don't care who your parents' biological daughter is."

What do you want? What is your purpose in staying by my side?

"I don't have any ulterior motives, I just want to stay by your side."

"Really? I think it's more than that. Who exactly are you? Are you Lin Yuan or Lin Yuan?"

Lin Yuan wasn't surprised by those two words. Instead, he smiled gently and said, "Whoever you think I am, that's who I am. I've said it before, I just want to stay by your side."

Xu Feifei widened her eyes and took a step back, looking at him warily, and said, "Are you a pervert? I don't even know you. Even if you like me, I won't like you."

Lin Yuan tilted his head slightly and sneered, "Tell me, if Nangong Ye finds out you're not the daughter of the Xu family, will he cancel your engagement?"

Xu Feifei stood there, stunned. The sadness she had just begun to fade from being rejected by Nangong Ye was brought up again, and the grief surged back like a flood bursting its banks.

Not long ago, she and Nangong Ye had a huge argument here. Nangong Ye's engagement to her was also a business arrangement; if he knew she wasn't his parents' biological daughter, would he still be willing to get engaged to her?

Xu Feifei rushed forward and said, "No, I'm your mom and dad..."

Before she could finish speaking, she fainted. Lin Yuan caught her and carried her back to her room.

After the doctor and nurses left, Lin Yuan sat on the edge of the bed, his brows furrowed as he looked at Xu Feifei lying there. He gently touched the corner of her red and swollen eyes and murmured, "Feifei, come back soon."

After an unknown amount of time, a ringing bell broke the silence in the room.

Lin Yuan glanced at the incoming call message on his phone, frowned, and answered. After listening for a long time on the other end, he said, "Okay, I'll come over later. You guys need to hurry, I don't have much time left."

The door to the ward suddenly opened, and Su Huan glanced at Xu Feifei, who was lying on the bed, and asked, "What's going on now?"

Lin Yuan hung up the phone. "You've come at the right time. I have something to take care of. Please look after Feifei for me. Remember to let me know as soon as she wakes up."

"Huh? What's wrong?"

"Private matter."

Lin Yuan finished speaking and was about to leave when Su Huan hurriedly stopped him, saying, "You haven't told me what happened to Feifei yet!"

Lin Yuan glanced at Xu Feifei lying on the bed and said, "She knows she's not their biological daughter, and she fainted from grief."

Su Huan followed his gaze and saw that Xu Feifei had her eyes closed, and the area around her eyes was red.

"Take care of her for now, and let us know as soon as Feifei wakes up."

"Uh, I..."

Before Su Huan could even speak, Lin Yuan impatiently walked out the door, leaving her alone in the ward.

Su Huan walked helplessly to the bedside, picked up a chair and sat down, looking at Xu Feifei's pale face. First she was dumped, then it was confirmed that she wasn't her biological daughter. It was one crisis after another; no wonder she was so heartbroken.

But there's no other way; everything revolves around the plot, otherwise how can the story be driven forward?

Su Huan sighed heavily, "Sigh, Feifei, you'd better come back soon. This place is about to descend into chaos, there's all sorts of things here, it's almost like an 8 pm soap opera."

Seeing that she didn't react, Su Huan took out her phone and sat on the edge of the bed to play games.

After what seemed like an eternity, Su Huan grew tired from playing games. She yawned and got up to pour herself a glass of water.

"Pour me a glass while you're at it."

Su Huan subconsciously agreed, but then realized something was wrong and turned around abruptly to find Xu Feifei looking at her.

She immediately put down the water glass she had just received and skipped over to her side, asking, "Feifei? When did you wake up?"

"Just now, could you get me a glass of water? I'm so thirsty."

"Okay, okay, coming right away."

Su Huan handed her a glass of water and watched her gulp it down, saying, "Drink slowly, I'm not going to take it from you."

Xu Feifei burped, got out of bed, and poured herself another glass of water.

Watching her series of actions, Su Huan felt a sense of familiarity, but was still unsure, and tentatively asked, "Feifei, do you know who I am?"

Xu Feifei looked at her, puzzled, and said, "Of course I know, aren't you Su Huan?"

Su Huan was stunned for a moment, as if the original owner also knew who she was.

"Do you know where this is?"

Xu Feifei looked around and realized that the room was unfamiliar. "Where am I? Oh no! Is my engagement with the male lead about to start? Will I make it in time?"

Su Huan was now certain and happily went up to her, taking her hand and saying, "Feifei, you're finally back! I missed you so much!"

"What?"

"Let me tell you, the original owner of this body, Xu Feifei, has returned these past few days!"

"!!!"
