end
"Bang bang bang".
A series of gunshots rang out, followed by an explosion, then a roar of "Charge!" and a stirring background music began to play.
Xu Feifei frowned in her sleep, trying to open her eyes, but her eyelids were too heavy and she couldn't open them no matter what she did.
Soon the cart started rattling and clattering.
"Sir, please turn the TV volume down a bit. It's too loud and will disturb the other patients."
"How loud is that? I'm an old man, and my hearing isn't good. Please understand that I'm an old man with many ailments. I'm in so much pain every day that I can only relieve the pain by watching TV."
"But we can't play it this loud. We can wear headphones. The hospital needs to be quiet, otherwise other patients will come and complain to us."
"Alright, alright, I'll turn it down a bit."
The old man muttered to himself, and soon the TV volume came down.
Xu Feifei became increasingly confused as she listened, but her eyes remained heavy with sleep and she couldn't keep them open. After a while, she fell asleep again.
When I opened my eyes again, it was already dark, and the lights in the ward were already on.
Xu Feifei stared blankly at the ceiling above her head, still not coming back to her senses for a long time. She turned her head to the side and saw an old man leaning against the headboard, watching a TV series about the War of Resistance Against Japan on a tablet.
There was a bottle of water and a thermos on the bedside table. Xu Feifei looked at the thermos and felt that it looked familiar, as if it was the thermos in her home.
"Kid, you're finally awake. I didn't expect you to be so young, yet you can sleep even longer than an old man like me."
Xu Feifei looked in the direction of the sound and saw the old man smiling at her. Somewhat puzzled, she sat up and nodded to him.
Looking around, then down at her clothes, she realized she was in her dorm at the Mary Sue aristocratic school the night before, and now she was in a hospital.
Xu Feifei frowned deeply, a sense of unease creeping into her heart. It seemed she had returned. She asked anxiously, "Grandpa, where is this?"
"This is the Central Hospital of Shishang City. Are you still half asleep?"
Xu Feifei got out of bed and rushed to the bathroom, looking at her familiar yet unfamiliar self in the mirror. Shishang City, not City A. The person in the mirror was herself; she had really returned.
How could this happen? We were planning to spend the Mid-Autumn Festival there yesterday, making mooncakes, having a barbecue, and admiring the moon with Lin Yuan.
There were only two days left until Friday, how did you get back? It was so sudden and rushed, you didn't even say goodbye.
Xu Feifei looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes gradually reddening, a wave of helplessness washing over her. What could she do? How could she say goodbye instead of just leaving quietly?
In an instant, all her strength seemed to be drained, and she leaned weakly against the wall, her thoughts in complete disarray. Suddenly remembering something, Xu Feifei went to the cabinet to look for that Mary Sue novel.
Perhaps if I find that novel, I can go back and say goodbye to Lin Yuan.
"Son, what's wrong? What are you looking for? Tell me and I'll help you find it."
The old man watched as she frantically searched the room like a headless fly, crying as she looked around, as if she had encountered something heartbreaking.
Xu Feifei didn't reply to him, she just kept rummaging through the things. The inspection report and personal belongings in the cabinet were all taken out, and the things were in a mess.
When the old man saw her about to rummage through his cabinet, he quickly stepped forward to stop her, saying, "Child, child, this cabinet belongs to your grandpa. What are you looking for? I'll help you find it."
Xu Feifei turned back to look at the old man, stunned, and said in a voice choked with sobs, "Grandpa, I'm sorry. I was in a hurry, I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to..."
As she spoke, tears streamed down her face. What should she do? How did she come back? How could it be so sudden?
When the old man saw her crying, he thought he had made her cry, and he paced anxiously around her. He opened the cabinet and said, "Child, don't cry, don't cry. What are you looking for? I'll help you find it."
"Feifei, what's wrong?"
A gasp came from the doorway, and someone rushed to her side. Xu Feifei looked up and saw that it was her mother—it really was her mother.
Xu Feifei hugged her, her tears falling even more fiercely. She cried so hard she could barely breathe, choking out, "Mom."
Her mother held her in her arms, patted her back to help her catch her breath, and said, "Yes, Mom is here. What's wrong? Tell Mom."
Xu Feifei shook her head, only shedding tears without saying a word.
After a long time, Xu Feifei sat on the bed, trying to calm herself down. Her mother tidied up her things and ordered a boxed meal from the hospital to keep her company.
"Mom, how did I end up in the hospital? Wasn't I sleeping in my dorm?"
“You’ve been studying too hard lately, and you couldn’t be woken up no matter how much we called you while you were sleeping in the dorm. So the teacher rushed you to the hospital and then notified me to come and take care of you.”
Xu Feifei looked at her hands. She couldn't remember when she had entered the book, nor how much time had passed in between.
He looked up and asked, "How long did I sleep in the hospital?"
"You've been sleeping in the hospital for three days and three nights. The doctor has done a full-body checkup on you, and it shows that there's nothing seriously wrong with your body. You've just been too tired lately, which is why you've been in a coma."
Xu Feifei lowered her eyes, never expecting that she had spent almost half a year in the Mary Sue world, while only three days had passed in reality.
The restaurant staff brought over the food she had ordered. Her mother opened the small table, placed the porridge in front of her, and said, "Are you hungry? Have some preserved egg and lean pork porridge. You just woke up, so it's better for your stomach to eat something liquid."
Xu Feifei took the porridge, stirred it a few times with a spoon, but had no appetite.
Seeing that she had little appetite and looked listless, her mother touched her forehead and said, "Have you been studying too hard lately? Why don't you ask the school for a few more days off and go back to school when you feel better?"
"How many days off have I taken now?"
"Mom took a week off for you. Today is Tuesday. You were brought to the hospital on Saturday."
Xu Feifei shook her head and said, "No need, I want to go back to the dormitory. I have something very important left there and I want to go back to get it."
When her mother heard that she wanted to go back to school, she shook her head disapprovingly and said, "You've only just woken up. You need to have your body checked again to make sure you're really okay before you go back to school."
The old man, who had been listening to them talk the whole time, couldn't help but say, "That's right, health is the most important thing. It's a good thing that the kids love to study, but they can't push themselves so hard. Health is the most important asset, and only by taking good care of your health can you study well."
"But I have something really important left in my dorm room, and I want to get it back."
Xu Feifei's eyes reddened again. She lowered her head and thought of Lin Yuan, Su Huan, Lin Xier, Nangong Ye, her classmates at school, and her parents in that world.
At the very least, she should say goodbye to Lin Yuan before leaving, telling him that she has to break her promise and cannot spend the Mid-Autumn Festival with him.
When her mother saw her crying again, her heart tightened and she said, "What is it? Let Mom get it for you, okay?"
Xu Feifei tried to speak several times, but found she couldn't. After being in a coma for three days in the hospital, she woke up wanting a brightly colored romance novel. Would her mother scold her for being silly?
After thinking about it, I decided against it and could only promise to go back to school to pick it up tomorrow after the check-up showed no problems.
The next morning, Xu Feifei underwent all the tests according to the examination report. After the doctor said that everything was fine, she urged her mother to take her back to school.
Hearing the students reciting their lessons as he passed the teaching building, he quickened his pace to his dormitory, found the novel he had borrowed from Zhang Xue, and carefully flipped through it page by page.
After an unknown amount of time, Xu Feifei finally finished reading it and let out a long sigh. Apart from the names of the male lead, female lead, and supporting female character, everything else in the novel was completely different.
Lin Yuan, Su Huan, Zeng Hao, and Zhang Jiayi are not in the novel; many other characters have disappeared from the book.
In the end, the female supporting character Xu Feifei left the country heartbroken, while the male lead Nangong Ye and the female lead Lin Xier overcame numerous hardships and obstacles from their families and lived happily ever after.
The book fell to the ground with a loud "thud".
Xu Feifei closed her eyes, no longer wanting to think about anything else. Perhaps one day she could return to that world in the middle of the night and say goodbye to Lin Yuan properly, and tell him that she would always be waiting for him in her world, waiting for him to come into her world.
Time flies, and high school life slipped by unnoticed amidst the overwhelming academic workload.
Xu Feifei was not used to returning to the normal student life of going back to school, but she adapted quickly and her studies made a qualitative leap.
She was grateful to Lin Yuan for tutoring her studies and for teaching her that knowledge is universal, which helped her get into a very good university.
Xu Feifei packed her luggage and took out the novel "The Domineering Prince Loves Me" from under her pillow. She had read this novel many times and could almost recite the whole book by heart.
Unfortunately, even though she could recite it perfectly, she still couldn't go back to that world.
Her hands caressed the book again and again. "Lin Yuan, I'm going to university. I wonder how you're doing now. I'm doing very well, and I believe you will too."
Urged by her parents, Xu Feifei put the novel in her suitcase and said, "I'm coming right now."
Her parents looked at her with beaming smiles, each giving her a large red envelope and saying, "You're going to university now. Remember to call us when you get there. Study hard at university, and if you need more money, remember to tell your parents."
He kept talking to her as he saw her off at the high-speed rail station, and the three of them said goodbye with reluctance.
The familiar scenery outside the window was rushing past, and Xu Feifei felt both happy and a little sad. When she first returned, she often fantasized about whether Lin Yuan would transfer to her class like she had done before.
Or perhaps a romantic encounter at some street corner, but unfortunately, all of this was just her fantasy. Lin Yuan never appeared during her entire high school career.
During winter break, she went to West Lake and Thousand Island Lake, which share the same name, but still didn't meet Lin Yuan. The thought of Lin Yuan appearing in front of her gradually weighed on her heart.
After that trip, she focused on her studies, preparing to go to university in Qiling City. She looked forward to their future encounter, hoping that fate would bring them together again.
The university dormitory is a four-person room with desks above and below, and a small balcony. The environment is very nice.
When she arrived at the dormitory, not everyone had arrived yet. Xu Feifei cleaned the dormitory, tidied up her bed, and placed the novel next to her pillow.
The others arrived at the dormitory one after another, greeting each other and introducing themselves.
The next day in class, Xu Feifei took a closer look at the people around her. There were still no familiar faces, but everyone was very enthusiastic, and she felt a little lost amidst her happiness.
Fate cannot be forced, but Xu Feifei was not discouraged. She lived her university life seriously, joined the External Relations Club, and hoped to meet the people she wanted to see in the activities.
"Feifei, the department's basketball tournament is about to start. The school wants us to go and get some sponsorship money. Do you want to come with us?"
Zhou Qingran sighed, immediately feeling a headache coming on. She had just secured sponsorships a while ago, and now she was securing more, without stopping. The school really didn't treat her like a student. Did they think she could just get sponsorships so easily, and so frequently at that, without giving her a moment to breathe?
Without hesitation, Xu Feifei agreed, "Sure."
Zhou Qingran leaned against her and complained, "It's so annoying. I've been running around every day for the past month whenever I don't have classes. I need to have a good meal after this sponsorship comes through."
Upon arriving at the sponsor's company building, Xu Feifei inadvertently glanced at a teahouse not far away—a tea shop. Suddenly, she felt a pang of anxiety, a strange emotion welling up within her.
She suppressed her emotions and accompanied Zhou Qingran in her negotiations with the company manager. Afterwards, instead of going to the lavish meal her teacher had treated her to, she hurriedly rushed to the teahouse.
I wandered around the teahouse, but didn't see anyone I knew. My heart sank. I'd lost count of how many times I'd felt this anxious, but each time it was without actually running into the person I wanted to see.
Xu Feifei casually ordered a cup of tea, looked at the scenery outside the window, and suddenly felt tired. She had a fulfilling and happy university life, but when she was alone and quiet, she always felt a little empty.
A deep voice came from beside me, "Miss, here's the tea you ordered."
Xu Feifei subconsciously said, "Thank you."
Looking at the familiar dot and the unidentifiable horizontal line in the teacup, he looked up in disbelief at the person in front of him and exclaimed, "Lin Yuan?!"
Lin Yuan, holding back tears, smiled and nodded, saying, "Feifei, I've finally found you."
Xu Feifei stood up, hugged him tightly, and cried, "Lin Yuan, I really miss you so much. I've been looking for you, but I can't find you anywhere. Where did you go? Did you really come out of the book to find me?"
Lin Yuan carefully wiped away her tears, as if wiping a precious treasure. "No, it's a long story, I don't know where to begin. I'll tell you slowly later."
Xu Feifei wiped away his tears, her eyes bright, and said earnestly, "Okay, we have a long time together. You must tell me everything in detail, one by one, and don't leave out anything."
"good."
