Dinner was ready, and Lu Yanshu walked home from school.
School ends at five o'clock, and it takes more than half an hour to walk home. In addition, he has to do his duty in the classroom, so he doesn't get home until six o'clock.
Fortunately, it's springtime, and the sky isn't completely dark yet at six o'clock.
If it were winter, Yunping would be extremely worried.
Lu Yanshu didn't rush to wash his hands and eat. Instead, he went to get his new cloth shoes, walked around in them, and only sat down to eat after he was satisfied.
Lu Zhili couldn't stop laughing. "Little brother, you look so funny."
"Eat your food! No one will think you're mute if you don't speak." Lu Yanshu's face turned red as he retorted to Fifth Brother.
"Hehehe..." Lu Zhili wasn't upset after being teased; he just kept laughing foolishly.
In his world, perhaps there is only laughter and joy.
Yunping served food to the four children, and in return, several children served her food.
Parents' words and actions are the key to educating children well.
An Wan said she really liked the atmosphere at the Lu family home.
This feels like home.
We enjoyed a pleasant and satisfying dinner.
I had just finished tidying up the table when it started to get dark.
There was a knock on the door.
Lu Zhili was so frightened that he hugged An Wan, who was standing to the side.
"Sister, is that old witch here again?"
"It shouldn't be."
An Wan noticed the difference in the knocking sound; the people at the courtyard gate were probably not Old Lady Lu and Li Xiufang.
"I'll go see. Don't be afraid, it's probably someone else looking for me," Yunping said reassuringly before hurrying out.
Judging from the voice, it seemed to be Niu Ahong, a close friend and acquaintance of hers in the village.
Seeing that Yunping seemed happy, Anwan figured the person outside must be someone she knew well, someone she was very close to.
Then I stopped worrying.
Instead, he poured a cup of hot tea for both Lu Jiayan and Lu Zhili.
The pan-fried small fish for dinner was still quite oily, so I needed a strong cup of tea to cut through the greasiness and so my stomach would feel comfortable.
"Ah Hong, I'm so glad you came. I was just about to go to your house to look for you."
"Well, I've come at the perfect time, hahaha—"
Yunping's voice and that of a strange woman drifted into the room.
An Wan looked up and saw Yun Ping pulling a strange woman in.
Yunping seemed to call her "Ahong".
It turns out it was a plate being returned; it was a plate of small fish and shrimp that had been given to Niu Ahong's family last time.
"Hello, Aunt Hong." The three Lu brothers greeted her in unison, and also called out, "Hello, Sister Qianqian."
"Oh, you three brothers look great, it's been a few days since I last saw you." Seeing their smiling faces, Niu Ahong was also happy.
It seems that the Lu family has been doing quite well recently.
"Wanwan, this is Aunt Hong. You can call her Aunt Hong like your brothers do. This is her daughter, Qianqian. You can call her Sister Qianqian."
Yunping picked up Anwan.
An Wan glanced at Niu Ahong and, seeing that there was no disdain in the other's eyes, smiled.
"Hello, Aunt Hong. Hello, Sister Qianqian."
"This must be Wanwan! You have such a sweet tongue. Here, Aunt Hong has some candy, you and your brother can eat it separately." Niu Ahong looked at her carefully.
There was not a trace of disdain in their eyes.
This surprised An Wan, since she was now skinny and somewhat ugly.
After receiving four or five candies from Niu Ahong, An Wan was put down by Yunping, who then distributed the candies to Lu Jiayan and his two brothers.
Lu Zhili immediately tore open the candy wrapper and popped the small white candy into her mouth. "So sweet! Thank you, Aunt Hong."
The last time I ate candy was during the Chinese New Year.
The candy is so sweet and delicious.
"Fifth Brother is a foodie." An Wan poked his puffed-out cheek with her finger. "Hey Fifth Brother, don't crush the candy, eat it slowly."
“Her name is An Wan, her nickname is Wanwan, and she will be my daughter from now on. She’s been recovering at home recently and hasn’t been going out to see many people, so she doesn’t know anyone. Once she’s healed, I’ll take her to meet everyone.”
Yunping introduced Anwan to Niu Ahong.
The group sat down, drank tea, and chatted.
