"Mom, I'm going to find the cat, he's back!" she said, and rushed out.
"Oh, you silly child! Wait for Mom—"
Yunping tried to grab Anwan's arm, but she was too late and had to chase after her.
Anwan rushed out of the noodle shop, her little head looking around, searching for the cat in the crowd.
'You stinky cat, if you don't come out, I'm really not going to talk to you anymore.' She could clearly sense his presence, but she just couldn't see him.
After not seeing each other for several days, her longing for him grew stronger, especially since they were so close yet she couldn't see him.
Her voice was choked with sobs, and her eyes were misty with tears.
"You stinky cat, I'm going to go back and eat all the dried fish."
After waiting for a long time without receiving a reply from the cat, An Wan turned around and went into the noodle shop.
Meow~
Suddenly, a familiar meow rang out, and An Wan looked up in the direction of the sound.
A black object suddenly flew down from the roof.
She reached out and caught it, hugging it tightly to her arms. "Kitty~"
"Meow~" Hmph~ My dried fish can only go into my stomach, you can't have a bite.
"Hehehe..." Having found the cat, An Wan felt a sense of relief, hugging him and spinning around twice.
Yunping, who had chased after the cat, was relieved to see that the cat had returned.
If the cat really isn't found, Wanwan will be heartbroken.
——
An Wan, holding the cat, got on Niu Ahong's motorcycle, with Yun Ping on the back. The three of them and the cat squeezed onto the motorcycle and swayed as they drove towards Lujia Village.
Just as they were leaving the town and passing a group of pedestrians, An Wan saw a cloud of black mist swirling around the head of a middle-aged man.
"Cat, look at that bearded man, there's a cloud of black mist above his head." Since it was inconvenient to speak, she could only communicate with the cat using her spiritual sense.
"Meow~" What's up?
Cat followed the direction she pointed, but only caught a glimpse before the motorcycle drove away.
"No! I didn't see any black mist."
'How could that be? I saw two today.'
'Are you seeing things?'
I saw it.
'You're seeing things.'
'I'm not seeing things, I really saw it.'
Anwan and Maomao returned to Lujia Village amidst their back-and-forth arguments.
The cat didn't believe her and went back only to demand dried fish.
These past few days I've been sneaking food in the town, and I've been chased and beaten for several blocks several times.
Home is the best; you can eat whatever you want.
An Wan was in a bad mood because she only found the two people with black mist swirling around their heads in the small town, but made no new discoveries on the way back to Lujia Village.
In order to find the answer and make the cat believe in her, Anwan took the opportunity to wander around the village while looking for small animals.
Finally, on Thursday morning...
Undeterred in her search for the black fog, An Wan passed by a brick house and saw an old man sitting in the doorway, basking in the sun.
There was a cloud of black mist above his head.
An Wan bit her lower lip, looked at it a few times to make sure she wasn't seeing things, and then turned and ran home.
"Kitty, come quick—"
"I found it! I'm not seeing things."
An Wan was both excited and happy. As soon as she entered the house, she saw Niu Ahong chatting with Yunping in the yard.
All I heard them talking about was the market day in town a few days ago.
"There's been a murder in town. Don't go out for a while, it's too dangerous."
"What? A murder? What happened?"
"A woman in a red dress was raped and murdered, and her body was dumped in a mass grave in the town."
"My God! How could someone do such a thing? Have they caught the murderer?"
"Sigh, no. Ah Ping, that woman is the one we met at the noodle shop that day. She was pretty, and I even took a second look at her."
"Damn it! That girl was so young, how could the murderer do such a thing? He must be severely punished. I hope the police catch him quickly and bring justice to the girl."
Upon hearing this, An Wan felt as if her feet were bound with iron, making it impossible for her to walk.
The woman in the red dress is dead?
Was it because of the black mist above her head?
Is it just a coincidence?
Or is there some connection between them?
"Meow~" What do you want from me? You're disturbing my rest.
The cat jumped down from the wall and gracefully walked to An Wan's feet, rubbing its little head against her leg.
"Kitty, come with me somewhere, hurry up!" After being startled awake for a while, An Wan remembered the old man from earlier.
He turned and ran out of the yard, heading towards the place he had just been.
The cat dared not disobey her and could only obediently follow.
But what came out of her mouth was a fierce "Meow~" What's wrong? You're so annoying.
An Wan ignored him and just wanted to get to the old man's house as soon as possible.
Before she even arrived, she heard several people crying.
"Old man..."
"Father, how could you leave like this... Waaaaah..."
"Father—Father—"
Stopped in the middle of the road, An Wan could see from afar that several people were throwing themselves on the old man and crying.
A black mist swirled around?
die?
Are these two things necessarily related?
'Why are you stopped in the middle of the road again?' The cat caught up and saw An Wan staring blankly.
I jumped onto her shoulder and followed her gaze, only to see several people crying in front of me.
"Cat, I can see black mist swirling around someone's head. That old man is the third one I've seen."
"Huh?" the cat said in a human voice, shaking its head. "I don't believe it. Although it's not the first time I've heard of such a person, this is the first time I've seen one."
