Chapter 537: Hit
It was freezing cold in the simple hut.
Although blankets were hung on the only window and the loose door to block out light, the cold air still seeped in through the gaps.
Song Moting blew air on his fingers to warm them up.
He only allowed his team members to light a battery-powered lamp in the room, and his breath created a thin white mist in the dim light.
Song Moting focused all his attention on checking the equipment.
He can shut everything other than work out of his mind, and his ability to concentrate is awe-inspiring and amazing.
The team members had only ever seen that level of concentration in one person - team leader Song Moting.
Because their job is to be a special team member, they mainly work for special units.
Song Moting is calm, stable and capable.
Need to hit a hard-to-hit target?
He is a sharpshooter who can hit the target accurately from a hundred paces away.
Need to blow up a building somewhere?
Just look for Song Moting.
His attitude was not aggressive, in fact, he was quite low-key.
But his teammates could tell from his eyes and his expression that he was deadly dangerous.
In this small factory hidden deep in the cold mountains, no one could have imagined that a batch of biological agents was being produced here and destined for the headquarters of a secret organization in a certain country.
Although an air attack is the fastest and most effective way to destroy the factory, it would also trigger an international crisis and disrupt the delicate balance of power between countries here.
No one wants all-out war.
These people must not be allowed to succeed. They must stop their conspiracy. Without the support of a certain country behind them, no one would be so courageous.
Since an aerial attack was not feasible, the factory had to be destroyed from the ground, which meant that the explosives had to be not only manually installed, but also powerful.
Song Moting not only planned to blow up the factory with plastic explosives, but also planned to use the fuel and catalyst in the factory to raze it to the ground.
They have been here for a few months and they are using travel certificates.
Song Moting hung the radio transmitter on his body and picked up the backpack full of plastic explosives.
Jin Dachuan's equipment is exactly the same as his.
Both of their radio transmitters were assembled by Black Cat himself. Several transmitters they obtained locally were damaged in some way, so they dismantled the usable parts to assemble two new ones, and tested them repeatedly to make sure they would not malfunction.
They also bugged the factory's phone lines, an easy task because the factory was still using equipment that was decades old.
They didn't eavesdrop on much intelligence, but they determined that the small factory was indeed producing some kind of biological and bacterial weapons for radical elements in a certain country.
Biological bacteria are not special, but some can be used as extremely effective biological weapons.
Song Moting sneaked into the factory to conduct reconnaissance last night. After returning, he drew a floor plan, marking the locations of the pathogen culture room and warehouse.
He and Jin Dachuan will install most of the explosives in those two places.
Once the factory was blown up, they were to destroy their equipment in the hut and be ready to go when the other three returned.
They will leave here in four groups, meet at the border and report on the progress of the mission.
By crossing the border, they can return to their own countries.
Once discovered they will no longer have any official recognition.
Song Moting turned off the lights, and the three men slipped quietly into the night.
Song Moting's voice came through the radio.
"Trouble is coming. There's movement in the warehouse. It looks like they're preparing to ship a batch of goods."
Jin Dachuan cursed and immediately focused his attention on the sudden situation.
Warehouses storing pathogens must be completely destroyed before shipment.
The warehouse is usually empty at night, with only guards standing guard outside.
But there are people coming and going there now, which means that Song Moting and his team cannot go there to install explosives.
"How much cargo?"
Jin Dachuan asked.
"About eight or nine. I hid behind some barrels but couldn't move any of them."
Their job was to prevent the shipment from leaving the warehouse.
"Cheetah! How are you doing there?"
Song Moting called softly.
"I'll be right over, boss. My explosives are ready."
Jin Dachuan wanted to help Song Moting, but they were still outnumbered, and moving would expose Jin Dachuan's position.
"Would you like to help, Fox? You stay where you are."
Jin Dachuan was filled with rage. The annoying thing was that Song Moting was right.
No matter what he does, it will distract Song Moting and the others, and distraction at this critical moment will only increase the chance of death.
Jin Dachuan sat on a bag of rations, trying to suppress his suffocating anxiety.
Time passes slowly second by second.
Jin Dachuan knew that Song Moting was currently using every possible cover he could find to quietly approach the warehouse area with as little risk as possible.
He also knew that these radical elements were preparing to leave with the germs.
Time is approaching every second.
Jin Dachuan is trying to strike a balance between caution and considerations of his own interests.
Song Moting spoke into the microphone.
"Black Cat, report your situation."
"I couldn't move an inch and the truck was almost full."
"Two minutes."
Song Moting said that this was their last chance and there was absolutely no way they could allow these chemicals to reach their territory.
Two minutes.
Jin Dachuan closed his eyes.
Cold sweat ran down his back.
He found himself mumbling to himself.
Two minutes seemed as long as a lifetime, and the second hand on the watch seemed to be motionless.
“In position.”
Hearing that sentence almost made Jin Dachuan lose his self-control.
He bit his lower lip until blood came out.
"How is it going?"
"That's right, the captain can't move. Elephant, how much medicine have you loaded?"
"One ingredient."
“It’s fatal.”
One ingredient is definitely not enough.
Jin Dachuan listened to their conversation and knew that Song Moting was estimating how much explosives would be needed to blow up the factory.
"Where's the fox!"
"Already in place. But can't help."
"Begin retreating."
Song Moting's voice was steady.
"Fox, set the fuse on all the drugs."
After a moment of silence, the fox's voice came, "Okay."
"Ready. Throw the whole bag of pills under the truck and run. I'll cover you with my guns. I'm going to give us five seconds to get out of here before I hit the button."
"Damn it. Six seconds."
Said the fox.
"preparation."
Song Moting's voice was still extremely calm.
"rise!"
Intermittent gunfire came from the radio speaker.
Jin Dachuan suddenly froze as if he had been shot by a bullet.
His comrades were fighting bravely, but he had to stay here motionless. The mission required that he must not fail.
If they failed, he and the beaver were the last hope.
They cannot be exposed.
A sound came from the loudspeaker that made the hair on Jin Dachuan's neck stand up, a dull mutter mixed in with the sound of gunfire.
"Boss! You've been shot."
"Go on, prepare to evacuate."
Song Moting's voice was abnormally weak.
Thirty seconds later, the explosion rocked the cabin, dust rained down from the cracks in the ceiling, and the door rattled in its frame.
The blast wave had not yet passed when Jin Dachuan had already ripped off his headphones and threw them aside.
He picked up a hammer and began to smash the old but functional radio equipment, as their plan was to leave nothing behind that was usable.
Thirty seconds later, the radio was reduced to a pile of scrap metal.
They must reach the final evacuation point according to the designated arrangements. Now no matter how worried he is, he must take his people away.
