Chapter 36 Orange Brother Wakes Up
Su Rouer cried out to Yu Sanbao with tears in her eyes and a choked voice: "Brother Bao..."
Yu Sanbao just said, "Go back to your room and rest first. You are not well yet, I will take care of Ju Ge'er."
He didn't look at Su Rouer when he said this.
Su Rouer was inexplicably frightened. She bit her lower lip and wanted to say something, but when she saw Yu Sanbao's tired face, she hesitated and finally said nothing.
She glanced at Ju Ge'er who was still unconscious on the kang with some reluctance, and whispered, "Then I'll go back first and come back to see Ju Ge'er later."
Yu Sanbao just nodded and said nothing more.
Brother Ju woke up early on the third day.
At that time, Xingxing was sitting on the edge of Juge'er's kang, taking some dogtail grass and weaving something.
This was taught to her by her uncle Yu Siyang. Xingxing was very interested in it. Although she was a little clumsy, she was having a lot of fun braiding and had already braided out half of a crooked "pigtail".
“Cough cough cough…”
A faint cough sounded, and Xing Xing was so scared that she almost dropped the braid in her hand.
Xing Xing reacted immediately. She stared at Ju Ge'er who was coughing on the kang with her round almond eyes. She forgot to put on her shoes and ran out barefoot, shouting, "Grandpa, grandma, Ju Ge'er is awake! Ju Ge'er is awake!"
Soon, many people came to the main house.
The one who rushed to the front was naturally Su Rouer. Her fever had subsided over the past two days and she was in much better spirits than before. However, since Ju Ge'er was unconscious, she was still a little anxious.
What a coincidence, she had come to see Ju Ge'er in the morning and had just left not long ago. She went back to her room to get some cloth to do some needlework or something. In just an incense stick of time, Ju Ge'er woke up!
Su Rouer was extremely excited. If Ju Ge'er had not been injured, she would have held him in her arms right now.
"My dearest love, how do you feel?"
Brother Ju was still in a daze, and obviously hadn't reacted yet.
Mrs. Wei followed behind and saw that Ju Ge'er's lips were a little dry. She frowned, poured a bowl of water, put the back of her hand against the bowl to test the water temperature, and then passed it to Su Rou'er who was in the front: "Give Ju Ge'er some water first."
Su Rouer pursed her lips, took the water, and began to feed Ju Ge'er while holding him.
Ju Ge'er was halfway through drinking when he suddenly remembered something. He pursed his lips and cried, "Mom, I, I fell off the mountain... It hurts so much..."
As a mother, Su Rouer's heart is broken.
She hugged Ju Ge'er tightly, unable to utter a word of blame.
Old Man Yu's brows relaxed and he looked quite happy: "It's good that Ju Ge'er has woken up, it's good that he has woken up! Grandma Da Xi said that it will be fine once he wakes up."
The people finally let go of the worries that had been hanging over their heads for days.
"Alright, alright, let's all hurry back."
Mrs. Wei hurried the people from the other two rooms, "Why are you all crowded in here? There's only so much space in the house. Don't you feel cramped? Go away, go and do your own things!"
The people in the other two rooms walked out happily, but Yu Siyang turned around and said to Ju Ge'er when he reached the door: "Ju Ge'er, I made you a pony these two days. It's so beautiful! I'll give it to you when you get better!"
After hearing this, Ju Ge'er felt much better and responded, "Thank you, uncle!"
Gui Ge'er exclaimed, "Wow!" and grabbed Yu Siyang's arm: "Uncle, you can't be partial. I want a little rabbit, but you haven't made one for me yet!"
Before Yu Siyang could reply, Bai Xiaofeng slapped Gui Ge'er on the head: "Ju Ge'er is sick, and you are really good at competing with your sick brother!"
Yu Siyang smiled innocently and shook his head: "All of them! I'll edit them one by one for you later!"
He was so happy that his nephews liked the things he made!
Yu Siyang went out happily.
Ju Ge'er lay in Su Rou'er's arms, watching his family members walk out of the house talking and laughing. He was young and couldn't describe the warm feeling in his heart that made him smile.
But, he somehow felt very at ease.
Xing Xing quietly passed her half-braided dogtail braid to him and looked at Ju Ge'er expectantly: "I braided it. I'll give it to you later."
Ju Ge'er curled his lips and was about to say "no" in disgust, but he suddenly remembered the figure of the little girl who was watching over him while weaving dogtail grass when he woke up.
I couldn't say "no" at all.
After a while, Ju Ge'er said with some condescension: "...I'll see if it looks good when the time comes!"
After saying this, he seemed to feel a little ashamed, turned his head slightly and stopped looking at Xing Xing.
After hearing what Ju Ge'er said, Xing Xing felt somewhat happy.
Ju Ge'er was not kind to her, but she didn't take it to heart. She only remembered Ju Ge'er's small body lying at the bottom of the slope, looking pitiful as if he was about to die.
It's really so pitiful!
It reminded her of herself. If her grandmother had not rescued her, would she have been lying on the rocky beach so pitifully, exposed to the wind, rain, and insects, with no one to care for her?
Su Rouer listened to her son and Xingxing talking back and forth, bit her lower lip, and said nothing.
Apart from the recuperating Ju Ge'er, the only people left in the room were Old Man Yu, Mrs. Wei, Xing Xing, and Yu Sanbao and Su Rouer from the third room.
Yu Sanbao suddenly looked at Su Rouer and spoke in a low voice: "...We saved a few taels of silver in our room. Where did you put it? This time, mother spent a lot of money on treating Ju Ge'er. You can take one or two taels of silver and hand it over to the government."
Su Rouer was stunned, then her face looked a little uncomfortable, and she stammered and couldn't speak.
Mrs. Wei frowned and refused: "No need..."
Yu Sanbao interrupted Wei Pozi, who was not seen before, and said, "Mom, don't worry about this."
Mrs. Wei's brows furrowed even deeper and she said nothing more.
Su Rouer's whole body was stiff and she could hardly lift her head. She called out "Brother Bao..." in a pleading tone, but Yu Sanbao looked at her persistently.
Su Rouer was at a loss. She didn't even dare to raise her eyes to meet Yu Sanbao's gaze.
Yu Sanbao's expression became more and more indifferent: "...all the silver is gone?"
Su Rouer could hardly lift her head, and she stammered and was unable to utter a word.
Mrs. Wei and Old Man Yu heard something, and Mrs. Wei frowned.
Yu Sanbao took a deep breath: "...Where is the money in our room?"
He must make Su Rouer say it herself today.
Su Rouer was forced into a corner and said, "I went back to my parents' home a few days ago... Of course I couldn't go back empty-handed..."
As soon as these words were spoken, even Old Man Yu's expression changed slightly.
Mrs. Wei took a deep breath and became furious.
But Ju Ge'er was still sick at the moment, and she didn't want to embarrass his mother in front of her grandson.
Mrs. Wei said with a cold face: "Third brother, and his wife, you two should come out with me first."
Su Rouer didn't want to go out at all. She made an excuse: "...Ju Ge'er, I can't leave here..."
Mrs. Wei said coldly: "Now you remember that you have a son? How come you didn't think of it when you took the money?!"
Su Rouer was speechless and could only look at Yu Sanbao for help.
