Chapter 89: Wei Lao Si's Marriage
Mrs. Wei is the second child in the Wei family. She originally had an older brother, a younger sister, and then the current head of the family, the fourth child, Wei.
However, the eldest son of the Wei family died before he could get married, and the third sister of the Wei family married far away in the state capital. In Jiangdian Village, the only one left from the Wei family was the fourth son of the Wei family.
Mrs. Wei hasn't seen Wei Lao Si for about two years. The last time she saw him was when Wei Feng's mother passed away.
Xingxing looked at the scenery of Jiangdianzhuang with curiosity.
Although fewer people make a living by fishing now, fishing nets are hung on the roofs of almost every household, and salted fish and other things are hung under the eaves of many houses.
Mrs. Wei's hands were full of things, so Xingxing held on to the corner of her clothes and followed her into the village obediently.
A villager recognized Mrs. Wei and exclaimed, "Oh, isn't this... the second wife of the Wei family?"
Mrs. Wei exchanged a few pleasantries with her, and the villagers asked Xingxing with a smile: "Oh, your little granddaughter is so pretty, which daughter-in-law gave birth to her?"
Mrs. Wei smiled and said, "I adopted him."
The villagers were surprised at first, and then they praised the old lady for her kindness.
Mrs. Wei smiled but did not comment.
She was very clear-headed. Even though these people kept praising her, they couldn't help laughing at her in their hearts and thinking she was a fool.
The Wei family arrived soon.
The Wei family used to make a living by fishing, but later on, Wei Lao Si didn't want to do this job anymore, so the fishing nets have been hanging on the roof to dry in the sun, and now they are very tattered.
A trace of emotion flashed across Mrs. Wei's eyes, and she knocked on the Wei family's tightly closed wooden door.
However, after filming for a while, there was no movement inside.
But the neighbors heard the noise and came out. When they saw that it was Mrs. Wei, they were very surprised: "Ah, isn't this the second mother of the Wei family? Are you here to visit your mother's family?"
When she saw Mrs. Wei carrying a lot of bags, she warmly invited her to visit her home.
"You must be so tired carrying all these bags... Your brother went to the next village to pick up his new wife. He probably won't be back until the afternoon."
Mrs. Wei couldn't believe her ears: "What new daughter-in-law?"
"You don't know yet?" the neighbor said, "We just heard today that your brother has made a name for himself. He has found a new wife. I heard she is not very old and is a widow. But the new wife is still in mourning for her father. As for your brother, we will bring him back to live with the Wei family first, and wait for two months after he finishes mourning before going to the wedding ceremony."
This was the first time Mrs. Wei had heard of this, and Wei Feng had never mentioned it to her before.
She is a young widow, and she is also mourning her father...
What is going on?
Mrs. Wei was confused by what she heard, but unfortunately, the neighbors were not very clear about the situation no matter how much they knew.
Mrs. Wei had no choice but to be patient, borrow two small stools from her neighbors, and sit under the shade of a tree outside the Wei family's door, waiting for Wei Lao Si to come back.
The neighbors had nothing to do, so they also brought out small stools and chatted with Mrs. Wei.
Xing Xing sat next to Grandma Wei obediently. The neighbors liked her very much. When they heard that Xing Xing was adopted, they smiled and said, "I also want to adopt such a well-behaved granddaughter. If you get tired of raising her, it would be great if you could give her to me to raise."
Mrs. Wei smiled and didn't respond.
Fortunately, it didn't take long before Wei Laosi appeared on the path outside the village of Jiangdianzhuang.
Wei Laosi walked in high spirits, followed by a woman with her head wrapped in light linen. She lowered her head and looked submissive. She was holding a small bundle in her hand and followed Wei Laosi closely.
"Fourth Brother!" Mrs. Wei stood up and went to greet him.
Wei Lao Si thought he had seen it wrong, so he rubbed his eyes and saw that it was indeed his second sister. He asked in surprise, "Second sister, why are you here?"
Although Mrs. Wei had many questions in her mind, she had not seen her family for a long time, and her mind was full of joy at seeing them: "I thought it has been a long time since I went back to my parents' home, so I came to see you."
Wei Lao Si hurried to open the door. Mrs. Wei wanted to help her neighbor clean up the small stool, but the neighbor waved his hand and said, "You two can go and talk about the past. I'll clean up this."
As she spoke, she glanced at the young widow several times.
Not to mention, with those willow-shaped eyebrows and slim waist, he is quite handsome.
Wei Laosi greeted Wei Pozi as they entered the courtyard.
The Wei family's yard is even more dilapidated than it was two years ago.
As soon as he entered the yard, Wei Lao Si turned around and told the woman who followed him: "Put down your bag and go to the stove room to boil some water."
The woman nodded her head and agreed.
When Wei Laosi turned around, he saw Mrs. Wei frowning.
Wei Lao Si slapped his head and said, "Second sister, I haven't introduced her to you yet. That's Su Fen, your new sister-in-law."
Mrs. Wei obviously disagreed.
Wei Lao Si, however, had already picked up Xing Xing with a giggle: "Hey, second sister, this is the little girl you adopted, right? She's so cute."
Xing Xing was a little at a loss, and looked at Mrs. Wei with her round eyes.
"This is your fourth uncle." Mrs. Wei introduced him, somewhat complaining to the fourth uncle, "Don't scare Xingxing."
Wei Laosi laughed and said, "It's hot outside. Let's go inside and talk." He strode into the house holding Xingxing.
Mrs. Wei had no choice but to follow him into the house.
She put down the things in her hands on the table in the main room and began to look around the room.
There is only one word to describe it: chaos.
"It's much more chaotic than when Afeng's mother was alive." Mrs. Wei frowned.
Wei Lao Si chuckled, put Xing Xing down, and let her run around and play: "Look, I married another one."
Mrs. Wei wanted to say something but stopped herself.
Wei Lao Si, however, did not take it seriously: "Second sister, Afeng's mother has been dead for more than two years, I can't stay naked forever."
Just as Mrs. Wei was about to say something, she saw Sufen coming in from outside, lowering her head and asking Wei Laosi in a humble manner, "Master, I can't find the lighter."
"Tsk, we can't even find it." Wei Lao Si scolded and got up to go to the stove to help Sufen find a fire starter.
Mrs. Wei had no choice but to give up.
After a while, Wei Lao Si came back, washed some fruit from somewhere, and brought it up on a plate, placing it on the table in front of Xing Xing: "Come, eat some fruit."
Xingxing was obviously a little restrained. Mrs. Wei gave Xingxing a piece of rice and let her eat it by herself. She still frowned: "...I'm not saying that you can't get married. So, tell me about your new daughter-in-law's family situation? How did you get to know her?"
Wei Lao Si didn't care much: "Oh, her father died last month, and this month, her husband owed money to the casino that Afeng was looking after, and he couldn't pay it back, so he jumped into the river. She and her husband don't have any children, and the house they lived in was also taken away by the casino... I thought she was pretty, so I discussed with her, why not live with me. She agreed."
"Don't worry, second sister. I'm not that unruly. It's because she has no place to live that I brought her back. After two months, when she's done with the mourning, we'll go to the wedding ceremony."
Wei Laosi picked up a fruit, wiped the water off the fruit on his body, and started to eat it.
Mrs. Wei took a deep breath and didn’t know what to say!
