Chapter 355: Entering the Palace (1)_1

"That’s Mo Xiang, Prince Jing’s most favored concubine," Long Xuanmo also noticed the young woman, and his cool tone was full of disdain.

Watching the direction in which Mo Xiang departed, Yang Mengchen’s brows furrowed slightly, his pitch-black eyes unfathomably deep.

"Ah Jiu, is there something inappropriate?" Long Xuanmo asked in a low voice.

"I don’t know why, but this Mo Xiang gives me a sense of déjà vu, could she be someone I know?" Yang Mengchen mused, "Perhaps we should thoroughly investigate this Mo Xiang."

Long Xuanmo agreed, his eyes and eyebrows tainted with a trace of sharpness and murderous intent. He believed in Ah Jiu’s intuition; this Mo Xiang definitely had a problem.

In The Capital, Huimin Hospital was under the management of Yao Chuanbai. However, Yang Mengchen didn’t alert him and, after looking around with Long Xuanmo and others, they left quietly. They then proceeded to Apricot Forest Hall and Drunken Immortal Tavern. Luo Jingrui and Nangong Lingfei were not there, so they went to Chujing Supermarket.

Now it was deep winter, and fresh vegetables and fruits were almost nonexistent elsewhere except in Qinghe Prefecture. Besides, with the supermarket’s wide variety and convenience, many people came to shop, making it very lively.

This was different from the modern world, so Yang Mengchen suggested that Sixth Brother and Seventh Brother, when opening new shops and hospitals in each place, should partner with two or three most capable local individuals. In this way, should any issue arise, those people would also step forward to resolve it, and it would prevent envy and covetousness from others.

In The Capital, the shops and hospitals were partnered with Grand Prince, Prince Ning, and Eldest Princess, naturally preventing any troubles.

When Yuan Bao announced the arrival of his sister, Yang Chenghong immediately set aside his work and personally came down to greet her.

"Sister Nine, Prince," Yang Chenghong disliked the man who had wooed his sister, although this man was soon to become his brother-in-law, "Fourth Brother should be returning from his public office soon. It’s perfect timing for us to go back and have lunch together, Fourth Brother has been constantly talking about Sister Nine."

Yang Mengchen nodded.

After giving a few instructions to the steward, Yang Chenghong led Yang Mengchen and the others to the Yang Mansion located in Eight Wells Alley.

Originally, when Yang Chengyou was preparing to go to The Capital for his examinations, Yang Mengchen had Yang Chenghong buy a house in advance, so that Yang Chengyou wouldn’t have to stay in an inn or be inconvenienced at the Luo family’s, and so he would have a place to stay if he passed the examinations and remained in The Capital. Even if he didn’t pass, Yang Chenghong could live there, and it would also serve as a residence for family visits to The Capital.

Unfortunately, house prices in The Capital were high and in high demand, and it was only with the help of Long Xuanmo that they found this spot in Eight Wells Alley. The vicinity was inhabited by upright and clean imperial censors, ensuring good public order. It was only a quarter of an hour’s carriage ride to the Imperial Palace, which made it very convenient for Yang Chengyou’s commute.

The mansion was a three-section estate, covering about fifty acres.

The first section had a main house with seven rooms and wing rooms, with corridors on both sides forming a courtyard-like gallery, with cross-shaped walkways paved with cement in the yard and a tall, lush green pine planted at each corner.

The second section was the same as the first.

The third section, however, had a main house with nine rooms and wing rooms, with five rooms on each side, and a back garden as well.

The back garden’s paths were also cemented, with a central rockery and a winding stream about a yard wide running through it, clearly with running water. Holly trees were planted on both sides of the garden, among various other flowers. At this season, wintersweet, crane-necked orchids, sage’s fingers, and Sichuan camellia flowers were all blooming, their fragrance refreshing and uplifting.

The whole mansion, with its lush green hills, quaint houses, vintage charm, and reminiscent of a contemporary Suzhou garden, was very appealing to Yang Mengchen.

About the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, Yang Chengyou returned from his office. Perhaps it was the result of his half-year experience at court; his demeanor had become even more steady and restrained. Yet his handsome features were tinged with scholarly elegance, every move he made was gentle as a breeze, truly a remarkable and outstanding gentleman.
