Chapter 445: Deception within deception_2

Ma Ruyin and Ma Rulin’s dresses were stained with many tea leaves and tea, and seeing the astonished and mocking gazes of the other ladies, Ma Ruyin’s face turned red with anger as she pointed at the dumbfounded, trembling maid and cursed, "Someone, drag this worthless wench out and beat her to death!"

The Ma family’s female relatives were all stunned, not reacting for a long time until they heard Ma Ruyin’s furious shout and finally snapped back to reality.

Madam Xu hurried over, instructing the maids to help her daughter and niece back to their rooms to change, while ordering the old woman to drag that maid away and apologizing profusely to everyone, casting a glance full of annoyance and resentment towards Yang Mengchen.

Had it not been for Yang Mengchen, how could Yinyin have been publicly humiliated? How could these people have laughed at Yinyin’s unruly behavior?

As for her and the Ma family being the instigators of the tea-splashing farce, she seemed to have completely forgotten.

Long Fengying had been quietly watching Yang Mengchen, unfortunately not catching how she had dodged the attack, feeling naturally disappointed and perplexed. However, even if Yang Mengchen hadn’t fallen for the trick now, they were to continue with their plan, so she quietly signalled Madam Zhang from the second branch.

Madam Zhang nodded and glanced at the sister beside her, who then stealthily slipped away.

Yang Mengchen observed their every move, her expression clear and tranquil like water, yet the look in her eyes gradually turned cold and calm, like a frozen well, exuding a bone-chilling chill.

Gazing at the Ma family, Princess Ning and the others all looked on unfavorably; only when they saw Yang Mengchen blink did they suppress the urge to make a scene on the spot.

Meanwhile, at the neighboring table, a maid was just about to add tea for Chu Dieyi. Witnessing this scene, the maid was clearly filled with panic and fear, anxious not to follow in the footsteps of the other maid. She cautiously added tea for Chu Dieyi before hastily stepping back.

The maid’s lunge caused most of the bowls and dishes at Yang Mengchen’s table to be overturned, naturally ending their meal, so they returned to the garden to enjoy the flowers.

The others, feeling it inappropriate to linger, also returned to the garden to listen to opera or admire the flowers.

"Princess Chen, the old lady has suddenly fainted. Please help treat her," a maid said with a face full of urgency as she rushed over.

Princess Ning spoke sternly, "Why don’t you seek a doctor to treat the old lady and instead come to Jiujiu? What is the meaning of this?"

"Replying to Princess Ning, the mansion’s doctor went back to his hometown a few days ago. It will take some time to find another one as the old lady suddenly fell ill. Everyone knows of Princess Chen’s superb Medical Skill and her kind heart. We hope Princess Chen will show mercy and save the old lady!" the maid suddenly knelt on the ground, kowtowing nonstop.

Princess Ning was about to say something, but Yang Mengchen quietly pulled on her, glancing around.

The maid’s voice was loud, and her actions had already attracted the attention of many nearby. Even if Yang Mengchen was unwilling to help, she had to go and see, or else she would face criticism.

Following Yang Mengchen’s gaze, Princess Ning and the others saw the people whispering amongst themselves, instantly understanding the intricacies of the situation. Although they were annoyed at the despicable shamelessness of the Ma family, they did not show it outwardly.

"I am also very worried about the old lady, so I will go with Jiujiu," Princess Ning declared, unwilling to let her niece face danger alone.

Princess Kang and others also expressed their intentions to accompany them.

The maid grew anxious, knowing she would not be able to lead Princess Chen to the spot with Princess Ning and the others present. Yet she could not speak out to stop them and could only fret inwardly.

Glancing at the maid, Yang Mengchen smiled and said to Princess Ning and the others, "I’ll just take Hai Tang and Mo Mei. You should stay here and listen to Madam Shao’s tales of the heroic deeds of the frontier soldiers. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon." She wanted to see what trap they had set up for her.

Seeing the meaningful look in Yang Mengchen’s eyes, Princess Ning and the others realized she had everything under control. Although they were still concerned, they did not try to stop her.

The maid secretly breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and repeatedly expressed her gratitude, guiding Yang Mengchen and the two maids towards the old lady’s courtyard.

The night before the flower-viewing banquet, Yang Mengchen had Hai Tang investigate the layout of Hou Mansion. It was clear that this road led to the front courtyard. She also keenly caught a faint scent carried by the breeze from the maid in front, causing her eyes to narrow. She suddenly leaned back to Hai Tang, "I feel so dizzy..."

Although Hai Tang managed to support Yang Mengchen in time, she too felt dizzy. Seeing Mo Mei collapse to the ground and about to call for help, her vision darkened, and holding onto Yang Mengchen, they both fell to the ground.
