Chapter 14 Unburdening

Everyone ate a lot for dinner. After a day of traveling, they were already tired. They stewed half a chicken and each had two pieces, which were then paired with chicken soup to satisfy their appetite.

The big bowl of egg custard steamed for the children was eaten up cleanly, but little Lingling didn't take many bites. After all, she had eaten it many times before, and she was more craving for meat!

She ate a whole chicken drumstick by herself, and still not satisfied after finishing it, she stared at the remaining meat in the pot with her eyes wide open, drooling. Unfortunately, her stomach was so full that she couldn't even swallow her saliva, so she could only watch others eat with a bitter face, and her eyes were so pitiful.

Seeing her like this, the whole family couldn't help but laugh. Zhao poked her puffed-up face and said, "Oh, you little greedy cat! Isn't there still half a chicken left? Grandma will make it for you tomorrow and give you the chicken leg too, okay?"

Little Bell's face inexplicably turned red. "Actually, I'm not that greedy!"

What she said is really not credible at all, especially the look in her eyes. She couldn't stop glancing into the pot while she was talking. It would be strange if I believed her.

The whole family thought this little girl was very funny. How could there be such a greedy kid? She had only eaten it a few times, so she should not be able to remember the taste.

When everyone was full, there was still some porridge left, but the chicken had been eaten up long ago.

"Hey, that bucket over there is rice water. Let's use it to wash the dishes! We didn't find any water today, so we have to go to the county early tomorrow. I'll make the beds now, so everyone can go to bed early!"

In fact, making the bed is simple. Just spread a thick layer of hay on the ground and then put two quilts on top.

It is a little difficult to just lie down, after all, the space is limited, so the family squeezes together, the adults sit in the corner, and the children are held in their arms, covered with a quilt, at least they can sleep warmly together.
