Chapter 89: Innocence (2 / 2)

When everyone heard that they were mushrooms from the deep mountains, they no longer doubted it.

After all, the mountains are a dangerous place for them. They usually don't dare to go in easily. They go in to find meat. Who would bother to pick mushrooms? Only family members at home will go to the nearby back mountain to pick mushrooms after it rains.

However, they were still very envious of being able to pick so many mushrooms.

"We didn't notice the existence of mushrooms when we went in before, but there are so many mushrooms in the deep mountains! Next time I go in, if I can't catch any prey, I can pick some, so at least I can get something." Someone sighed, revealing his surprise at nature and his expectations for the future.

"Yes, when we ventured in at that time, we were only thinking about eating meat, so we didn't even pay attention to the mushrooms." Another person echoed, seemingly also recalling a past adventure.

Leng Mohan's direction home happened to pass by the cafeteria's back kitchen, so he didn't have to take a detour.

When the chef saw such a large adult wild boar, he was slightly surprised, but when he learned that it was brought back by Leng Mohan, he no longer found it strange.

Mu Bai noticed that the chef's eyes were always on him, or to be more precise, on the sack he was carrying, the one filled with matsutake mushrooms.

Mu Bai took the initiative to say, "Chef, please have someone take care of this wild boar. We only need half of it, and the remaining half will be sold to the cafeteria at the price we agreed on before."

His tone was calm and firm, as if this was just a common occurrence. However, deep down in his heart, there might be a hint of pride and satisfaction, because this wild boar was the fruit of their hard work.

The chef nodded, his eyes revealing admiration for Mu Bai. He knew how hard it was to get these ingredients, and he also understood that Mu Bai's decision was made out of consideration for the team.

The chef heard the sound from afar and waved his hand, signaling others to carry the wild boar down and send it for processing.

He turned to look at Mu Bai, with a glimmer of expectation in his eyes, and asked, "Sell me some of the ones you picked." Mu Bai showed a bitter smile on his face and looked at Leng Mohan helplessly.

He was secretly annoyed in his heart. If he had known earlier, he would have picked up these things and returned to Mo Han's house. Why did he stay here? The chef's nose was too sharp!

Mu Bai smiled bitterly and said to the chef, "You have to ask Mo Han about this. I can't make the decision." There was a sense of helplessness in his tone, and at the same time, he also revealed a hint of helplessness towards Leng Mo Han.

It seemed as if he was saying that if he had known this would happen, he would not have done it.

After hearing what Mu Bai said, the chef walked straight to Leng Mohan without saying a word and pulled him aside.

The chef looked serious and lowered his voice to Leng Mohan, "Captain Leng, the competition will be held in half a month. I heard that this competition is very important and someone from above will be coming. It just so happens that the chef of the military region that will be competing is my friend. He asked me to find out if there are any rare ingredients that can be used to entertain the distinguished guests."

"There should be matsutake mushrooms in that bag, right? Can you sell me some? I'll buy them at the market price of fifteen yuan per pound." His eyes were full of earnestness and expectation, as if he hoped Leng Mohan could understand his difficulties.
