Chapter 142: Dream Walkers and Lycans

Ava or Ivy’s face was bland as she stood behind Jude.

However, rage was gripping at her core. Anger stirred within her.

He wasn’t supposed to kill Gabriella?

She wasn’t meant to die?

Amore just made it look like her mother’s death was an accident. Like Romeo just tripped and accidentally cut her up like a damn swine.

She closed her eyes, hoping it would be enough to stop herself from killing this woman right then and there.

"You want to start a civil war?" Jude asked, clearly curious.

"Start one? Do you think I am capable of doing that?" Amore snorted. "No. But... we will help them do it." She got a brown envelope from her handbag. "I received news. Lycans... are about to revolt against their King."

"Why are you telling me this news? If you want to talk about a scheme, then go talk to my father."

"Jude... Jude..." Amore smiled. "I don’t know if you are foolish or just acting like one. You do know that an operation like this could give you promotion, right?"

"What makes you think that I will work for you?" Jude asked.

Amore’s lips thinned. "Because you are young and ambitious. And you wanted to become the next Deputy Director. Listen... if you work with me, we would be able to uncover more than creating chaos inside the Lycan Kingdom. The Lycans have been so secretive, so mighty. They look down on all of us. And rightfully so. Lycans are stronger than most of us."

Jude scoffed. "And?"

"Well, if you work with me, we would get so much information from them. The secrets that they are keeping from us. Maybe even the source of their strengths. Can’t you see? This is a good opportunity for you to build an impressive resume."

Jude turned silent. It was obvious that the man was contemplating something.

"You know what?" Jude shook his head. "You’re lying about something, Mclary. I can smell it. It’s either you spit it out or you find someone that would work for you on this one."

"I am not lying."

"But you are hiding some information. What’s in it for you?"

"I don’t understand."

"Did you really think I am foolish? You really think that I would believe anything you say?" Jude smiled. "I know how witches work, Mclary. You are weak and you want to hide that by trickery, by your words."

Amore pressed her lips together.

"Now, tell me. What are you getting out of this?" Jude added.

"I want information from the Lycans."

"Information?"

"They have... long lives. Longer than most of us. I want to ask them about dream walkers."

"Dream walkers? Just why are you so interested in them?"

"That is none of your business."

"You want me to assign people to cause chaos. If this goes down, I will take all the blame. The least you could do is give in to my curiosity."

"I need a dream walker. That’s all you need to know."

"Where is this coming from? I mean... dream walkers don’t exist anymore."

"We can’t be too sure. I am certain that the Lycans have information about the dream walkers. And I know that they won’t just give it to me if I asked them to."

"So, you will create a diversion to kidnapped Lycans so you can interrogate them before experimenting on them."

"Yes."

"I will think about it."

"We don’t have too much time. The tension in— "

"I need to make sure that the people that I will send are going to come home." Jude uttered. "Lycans have the ability to suppress us. They don’t have to say a word or more. They don’t even have to blink. They are that... dominant."

"So... send witches." Amore suggested

"And you think we can just find strong witches that would work with us? Do not forget, Trillium has a base in Europe. London and Scotland and other places. I need to think about the risks and see if it outweighs the benefits."

"You really are— " Amore didn’t continue her words. "Well, I have made my point. Call me once you have made your decision." She got up, grabbed her bags and started walking towards the door.

"Oh... by the way..."

"What?" Jude asked.

"I want to make sure that Ava is dead. Her brother is missing too, find out where they are."

"Can’t you just track them? And why are you so fixated on Ava and her family? It’s not like the woman did something to you?"

"The woman that you are talking about...refused a baptism." Amore hissed. "Yet, she’s still considered strong. Where do you think she got all that power?"

Before Jude could say another word, Amore was already out of his office.

"Bitch," Jude uttered.

"Seems like people like bullying you," Ivy’s voice sounded behind him. "Must be your looks."

"Tsk. Don’t say anything."Jude said.

"You look like you are considering her offer?"

"She doesn’t understand the power that Lycans hold."

"Power?"

Jude looked at her and smirked. "It seems that you don’t understand them either."

"Well... there are a lot of things that I don’t understand Caro. You heard her, I never learned witchcraft. I was never baptized. Never joined any covens either."

"And why is that?"

"Why what?" Ivy walked towards the wine rack and started browsing through the various wines.

"Your mother Gabriella, had a coven. Why did you not join her?"

Ava smiled but said nothing. She stared at the racks as she recalled her conversation that she had with Gabriella about ten or eleven years ago.

At that time, Gabriella asked her if she wanted to join her coven.

And Ava declined without batting an eyelid.

Ava... didn’t want to become a witch.

Sadly, she didn’t have any other option either. She just wasn’t given one.

"You know... if you joined a coven and went a school of witchcraft— "

"Then I would have died." Ava interrupted him. She had too much secrets. Secrets that she, herself, didn’t understand. And all species tend to hate something they don’t understand.
