Chapter 219: A Painting of Her

"You will die," Ava uttered without batting an eyelid.

"By now, you must have had the idea about me," his lips lifted into a smug smirk. Still, he didn’t withdraw. He didn’t move an inch away from her.

"Move," Ava hissed.

"And if I won’t?"

Ava pushed him as she sat back up. She had slouched earlier when she was sleeping. She glared at Josef, her face was red not because his face was exactly like Matthew’s but because she found the man really irritating.

"I was jesting," Josef chuckled. "Would you like some tea?"

"No."

"So, this means, you do not like the tea that— "

"No need to kill someone. I will take the tea," Ava said. This man was a psychotic demon. He would kill anyone that he found annoying. By now, Ava knew that this man was indeed a demon.

"Tell me," the man started the tea ceremony. "What rumors have you heard about me?"

"Nothing," she observed his movements, the way he poured some hot water elegantly. The man must have really loved tea. However, the fact that this tea ceremony was really similar to how the Chinese did it bothered her. Was it possible that he learned it from an other worlder? Or does this ceremony also exist in this world?

"Do not lie to me," he uttered.

"I wouldn’t dare."

"I can sense the sarcasm coming from you."

Ava said nothing.

"I want an honest answer or perhaps you wanted me to assume that you didn’t like the smell of the tea?"

"I am living here, I eat, I sleep and read. Have you seen me talk to other people aside from you?" she quipped back. "Right. You don’t even allow me to interact with other people!" Of course, this was only an act. On the outside, Ava made it look like she wanted to talk to his men. But she actually liked the quiet.

She liked the fact that his people avoid her as that would give her the time to sleep and get stronger.

"How about Damon?"

"He said you are a demon."

"Hah..." the man poured tea to himself before he smiled. "I expected as much."After pouring his small teacup, he also poured a cup for her. "Do you want to know why Damon West hated me?" ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com

Ava said nothing. Of course, she wanted to know why Damon wanted to kill Josef. But she never asked Damon. She felt that this was something personal.

"Let me start by saying that I— I have killed countless people in my somewhat long life."

He continued, "Damon wanted me dead because... I killed his mother."

Well, that was ...

Ava blinked.

The man just said those words as if they were—

"His mother was just one of the countless people whom I killed. Their lives were fleeting. They do not matter to me."

"So, in short Damon hated you because you are a psychotic jerk?" Ava snorted. "That’s a bit surprising."

"I will forgive your sarcasm... just this once." He handed the tea to Ava but before Ava could accept it, a loud boom echoed.

**BOOM**

The walls shook.

Ava frowned. She looked at some of the books that fell on the floor with a loud thud.

"What was— "

"My lord, we have an emergency," Johnson appeared next to Josef. He whispered something to the latter. Almost immediately Josef frowned.

"It looks like we have to have to postpone this conversation. I need to leave." Josef narrowed at Ava. "You are not allowed to take a step outside of this room. Johnson will be outside guarding you."

Josef looked at Johnson. "If she takes one step... one step out of this room. Kill her. And kill everyone that you see in the hallway. Everyone except me."

"I understand, my lord."

Josef turned his heel and immediately left the room with Johnson. Seeing them gone, the expression on Ava’s face finally changed. She smirked and waved her hand, magick flowed through her veins.

"Nimcio Damaeta Vasargo Cidgus Quealkus Zakloom," she uttered. She could easily perform the spell without chanting but she doesn’t want to reveal that now.

The explosion earlier was a sign from Damon.

The timing was just perfect.

Almost immediately, the bookshelves shook and rearranged themselves. Soon, another shelf appeared in the middle of the large wall. Ava smirked.

She always knew that the man was hiding something in this room. But he made it too obvious. It made Ava guess that it was a trap. He wanted her to use her ability. Which she didn’t use simply because she didn’t want to show anything to him.

She hurried toward the shelf and look at the books that were placed on the table.

All of them were about Demons and Daemons. Demonology and History.

Without second thoughts, Ava gathered everything and hid it using her magick. Then she transformed the bookshelves again.

Then she waved her hand and almost all the books inside the room fell to the floor. The sound must have attracted Johnson’s attention as the latter walked inside the room, alert written all over his face.

But Ava was already waiting for this.

The moment Johnson walked inside the room, his gaze turned blurry before it turned completely dark. Then his consciousness left him. His large body fell to the floor with another thud.

Ava ignored the man and simply cast a spell that would make her invisible.

Then she calmly walked out of the room and walked towards Josef’s real office.

Ava already knew the layout of this place from astral projecting in and out of her room. She had visited all rooms in the mansion while sleeping. Because of this, it didn’t take too long for her to find Josef’s room.

She made sure that there was no one inside the office before she walked in.

Just as she expected, a large array of books welcomed her. Though, most of them were large and were encased in what looked like a spider’s web.

Strange, she thought inwardly.

She started reading the titles of the books and it didn’t take too long for her to realize that they were written using a language that she haven’t seen before.

Frowning, Ava took a step back.

She was already preparing to teleport out of this place when she spotted a painting.

A painting of her.
