Chapter 414: Killing a God 6

Old Patriarch de Cene frowned.

"Please forgive me for doubting you. I just don’t understand. If we want to capture Matthew... why are we torturing the Priestess? She— I mean, the Priestess had been serving the King for generations. I just thought— " freeweɓnøvel~com

"Are you doubting me, old man?"

"No." Patriarch de Cene shook his head. "No. On the contrary, I am curious. May I know what your plan really is? Both of us wanted Matthew... I think it is only fair that you tell me some of the things that you wanted to do."

The Previous Queen narrowed at him.

"You are lucky I am no longer the Queen. Or I would have instructed my people to cut your throat just for disrespecting my decision."

"My Queen..."

"I will tell you." The Queen said. "Ulva was nothing but a pawn. Without her the King is helpless and he immediately called the next powerful Witch that could help him. Ava. Obviously, Ava took Babaylan with her. Oh... that prideful Babaylan. She doesn’t have any idea that she just walked into a trap."

"You are planning to use Babaylan to lure Matthew into this plane?"

The Queen rolled her eyes "Did you really think that Matthew would let the woman who raised her alone die?"

"I have heard rumors about Matthew’s strength... I fear that— "

’Are you doubting me... old Patriarch?"

"No My Queen. I would never do that. However, I am very much concerned about your safety. Though... I have already asked my people to— "

"No need to worry about my safety."

Their conversation was interrupted by a knock on the door. Both of them looked towards the man wearing a large robe. He approached the Queen with a steady limp.

"My Queen..." the man said. "We are ready. The trap has been set."

The Queen narrowed her eyes. Then she smiled.

"Do you understand now... old Patriarch? We don’t need to fight him on our own... we just need to create a trap so strong he won’t be able to fight against it."

"You are indeed the smartest My Queen," Patriarch de Cene smiled.

"Now... send the witches!" the Queen said.

"What about the Shaman?" the man wearing a robe asked.

"What about him? He is someone who has witnessed wars and the death of his friends and family. Did you really think he cares about this? Babaylan must have done something to summon him. I refuse to believe that someone like that Shaman would involve himself in matters that do not concern him." The Queen said. "But... if he does... tell him that Erebus sends his regards."

Ava’s eyes widened when she heard the words of the Queen.

Erebus... the goddess of the shadow and darkness. The Shaman was certain that Matthew is Erebus or at least has a fragment of Erebus. So... why would the Queen mention this now?

She immediately decided to get out of this place and talk to the Shaman. Moreover, she also needed to warn them about this trap.

However, just as she was about to teleport out of space, she realized that she... couldn’t.

Her face turned darker and darker as she tried and tried but ended up with one shocking reality. Whatever it is that the King asked the robed man to set was affecting her capability to teleport even if she was using her astral body.

She frowned.

Whoever is inside this invisible bubble cannot leave— that is a popular trap but she could easily bypass it because she’s more powerful than the witch who created it. She stared at the robed man who just started walking away from the Queen and decided to follow him.

She had suspicions that this Is because of a magick circle. If only she could destroy that... then she could easily leave this place. Ava thought that the robed man would leave the house or reveal the location of the magick circle, instead, he walked towards a basement and opened a secret door that led him to an elevator that was powered by magick.

This place doesn’t have electricity so everything here had been developed by magick. However, this is actually the first time that she saw an elevator!

This isn’t even in the palace or at the library.

She followed him into another pathway. This time, it looked modern. With its white LED lights, glass, and stark white walls, she felt like walking inside a laboratory from the outside world.

Who made all this? She asked herself inwardly. She would love to know the person behind this.

How did they sustain all this with magick?

Isn’t that—

However, her thoughts halted when she saw the body of women connected to tubes not far away from the entrance. The women were naked, their limbs were tied with iron chains, and their heads were bald.

The most noticeable feature that they have were the large tubelike metal connected to their heads.

Witches, Ava thought inwardly. These are witches!

Are they using live witches to sustain all the power inside this place? That is highly likely!

Anger boiled inside her.

What the hell is wrong with these people!?

Witches have lives too!

She followed the robed man and realized that these people didn’t even spare a child witch just for the sake of magick. They actually captured children and used them as a power source!

Surprisingly, these people were still alive, or at least that’s what the shallow breathing told her.

Not long after, they arrived at another elevator that lead her to another hallway. This time, there were no glasses or witches that were used as a power source. There was a hallway lined with doors.

Each door had numbers on it.

For a long time, the robed man walked and walked until he reached the last door, he opened it and walked inside.

The inside of the room was just as bland. It had an all-white paint. A white mattress, no table or chairs. There was a small basin-like structure— she guessed it was for peeing or something like that.

"I know you’re awake..." the man said. He was looking at the woman lying on the mattress. "Stop pretending. I can sense you."

"Shut up," the woman said. "I want to sleep."

"It’s your time to go out."

"I don’t want to."

"Did you really think doing a few missions would save you?" the man snorted. Then he revealed what looked like a remote control and pressed a button.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH— " the woman suddenly screamed, her body started to tremble. "Stop! Stop— "

The man let out another snort before he stopped.

"I told you.... You have to listen to everything that I say or you are going to suffer."

"I have you..." the woman got up, revealing a young face behind her long hair. "You are lucky you are that control in you or I swear... I would rip you to pieces and throw your remains to the pigs. Pigs eat everything, you know?" Despite this, the woman still had a calm expression on her face.

"I know... I know... now follow me and get dressed. The woman that you are going to take is another witch. You have to be careful this time. There are other powerful witches nearby."

"More powerful than me?"

The man said nothing. Instead, he left her in another room full of black articles of clothing and some weapons.

"You really want me to kidnap someone?" the woman asked. "Are you sure you didn’t want me to kill them?"

"Positive. Just take her here." The man handed her a photo. To Ava’s surprise, it was actually her!

The woman was just tasked to kidnap her!? What the hell!

"She’s a bit pretty. Who is she?" the woman asked.

"You don’t need to know that. Just take her with you. Remember, take her in and out while avoiding other people’s attention. I don’t want to get us into trouble. If you do that. I will give you something... as a prize."

"Something?" The woman started removing all of her clothes, her face still expressionless. She didn’t even blink as the man looked at her naked body. She started dressing in black latex clothes.

"I will double the drugs tonight." The man said.

"Oh?" the woman lifted an eyebrow then she licked her lips. "What happens if they see me?"

"You can do what you want."

"You mean... I can kill them?"

"Yes. However, these are powerful people. I don’t think you have the capability to fight against them."

"Are you calling me weak?" the woman snorted.

"No. I am calling them strong. Remember, failing means death. So, I suggest you just do as I say and do this mission as quickly as possible. The younger witch that you are going to take should be weaker than you. Taking her shouldn’t be a problem. The problem is the people next to her. So... as much as possible, you have to— "

"Bla bla bla... did you really have to repeat yourself over and over again? Don’t you get tired of hearing your own voice?" the woman asked, disgust apparent in her eyes.
