He walked over to He Youyou and said, "Look, they're all eating."
He Youyou nodded and said with satisfaction, "Not bad, you're a really capable child."
Zhao Wenqi grinned smugly.
"While they're eating now, go and rummage through the henhouse and see if you can find a few eggs."
Zhao Wenqi's eyes suddenly lit up.
You can even take out eggs?!
Before He Youyou could say anything more, he ran off like a gust of wind.
He ran around the yard, panting, and came back asking, "Madam, where is the chicken coop?"
He Youyou suppressed a laugh and had the cook take him there.
A little while later, the boy returned at breakneck speed, holding an egg in one hand.
"An egg! There's an egg! Madam, look!"
He ran up to He Youyou, opened his hands, and carefully held the two eggs in his palms.
Upon seeing this, He Youyou praised, "Young man, you're lucky! I'll have the kitchen cook this for you tomorrow."
Unexpectedly, Zhao Wenqi withdrew his hand from the eggs and shook his head violently: "You can't eat them. These two eggs will turn into chicks in the future. If you eat them, the chicks will be gone."
He Youyou was charmed by his cuteness and couldn't help but reach out and pat his head: "You're such a kind child. Okay, if you don't want to eat it, then don't. You can put it back for the old hen to incubate the eggs."
Zhao Wenqi protected the eggs, looking wary: "You can't secretly take them to eat. I'll come and count the eggs every day from now on. If there are any missing, it means you've stolen them."
So Zhao Wenqi began a new life of feeding chickens, counting eggs, and waiting for the chicks to hatch every day.
